I have novel proteins available of fuzzies, pinkies for snacks/treats, (tuna, shrimp, salmon) which I am planning on feeding once a month as a treat. Also still doing 4 eggs per week until they start shedding.

So because I'm a raw grind feeder, do I still use/get the Raw feeder tag?
My babies eat the same thing at the moment, we will vary after I've had time to get my newbie all good and portions down and modified for him.
We eat a grind mix of Chicken Thigh (skinned and deboned) Chicken Liver Pig Kidney Chicken Heart for bone we have used both Chicken back (trimmed and deskinned) and chicken neck. [all ground] My ratios are [per lb chicken thigh] 15% bone grind 10% heart 5% liver 5% kidney

What other proteins are you feeding besides chicken? Organ proteins don't really count. Even on grinds they need a bare minimum of at least 3 different ones, preferably more.

We haven't started on anything else because I just started Ghost on the new diet less than a week ago. I'm guessing you mean Turkey, Beef, Etc? {edit} I admit I'm worried that I'll get drama from the kids when I switch off chicken... Do turkey necks count as a small change I can make gradually? I really have next to no room in my freezer for new products and I can't just switch them without transitioning them from chicken to another protein.
Once the local farm opens back up I'll see about Quail and I'll have to go to the oriental market next time I have a few minutes to look at the product. Duck, Quail, Rabbit, Beef, Kangaroo, Pork? That's all I've seen talked about. Are those all acceptable options? Also I do a week frozen prep at a time. Are you saying I should I alternate them weekly to a different protein?

mfouche89 Part of a balanced diet for ferrets, you need to offer variety. They need at least 3 different proteins in their menu EVERY week. Variety of proteins in organs doesn't make much difference, but in bone-in and muscle it is important. You need a minimum of 2 different proteins providing your bone-in meals, so it cannot all be chicken. Just offering a single protein like chicken can actually lead to problems like a food sensitivity over time. Which product are you talking about? Are you only giving grinds? You can offer turkey necks, yes. Duck, Quail and rabbit are also great for bone-in. Kangaroo can only be muscle meat, and most of the time so can pork. Only some ferrets will actually eat some pork rib ends properly, vs ignoring or just shearing off the meat. Part of the raw switch is getting them to the stage where they will eat other proteins without fuss too, only then can your menu properly be reviewed for the status change.

Ahh, well I got a whole rabbit when I was on my way to work so I plan on putting that in my next batch. But it was stupid expensive and only 2lbs (my kids go through 5x that a week cause I have 5) so I have to find other sources or something. I only just got comfortable getting them all on raw since I am working part time with a whole handfull of odd hours and chores under me besides the ferrets. I didn't really realize when I was reading and starting that it was required to have all those together like that. Yes, I am doing grinds because it's easier to keep up with it all. I tried cut pieces of chicken neck with my kids once and it wasn't going to well. I don't think I can keep up with a frankenprey diet and I want to keep feeding raw so mixing it all to ensure they all eat the same amount of important protein, organs, bone and muscle I am going with that (we brush our teeth weekly with enzymatic toothpaste) until I get more time to do frankenprey. I honestly only used Kangaroo because I've seen people talk about it, but I'm in the US and it would cost big to get that kind of meat here I'm sure. I'll have to work on Turkey, Pork, Duck, Rabbit, Quail, Beef and Chicken I think. I guess I need to make posts on my raw thread again! (I didn't realize I was still so far off) I'm about to go through a job change which might also cripple the ease of procuring meats such as Duck and Rabbit so I'll have to hunt around (while job hunting) to find other sources.

Just a couple of questions How much of the chicken foot do they consume? And how much of the duck wing bone?

Just a couple of questions How much of the chicken foot do they consume? And how much of the duck wing bone? Sure! So he can eat the whole duck wing tip, bone included, but I take a mallet to the thicker bones above the first joint (the elbow-like one, I guess?), and to the chicken feet as well as the turkey neck. There might be a few tiny bits of bone leftover if I didn't pound them correctly but otherwise he does eat all the bone. And he eats either in his cage or in a feeding den while corralled in the kitchen, so I can make sure it's not just getting stashed, lol!
