1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
Partially from browsing on line, part from a friend who raw feeds and part from Ferrets for Dummies.
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I would like to have my ferrets eating raw parts that I can buy from a store. I’m considering whole prey but I’m unsure if I could handle it. I’d like them fully switched to raw.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I firmly believe that it would be healthier for them and improve their standard of living. As well I’m not keen on the way most pet food companies do business and I’d prefer to avoid them if I can.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
I do understand and between myself and my husband we have the time and energy to commit to changing their diet. He is completely on board with the decision to switch them and we share all the aspects of care taking of the fuzzies.
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
We have two, male ferrets, roughly 4 months old. We got them this past weekend (August 13th). I don’t think they are underweight or overweight they are both active and have lots of out of cage time.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
Currently they are on a mix of several different ferret kibbles (some Wysong, some EVO and a little bit of totally ferret). We had a few sample packs and we’re trying to avoid buying a bag of pet food. So far they eat anything that’s put in front of them. They also have some ferretone, though Draco doesn’t seem fussy over it. (Oh and they each had a tiny tiny piece of unheated hot dog. Just once)
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
Not yet, but want to start as soon as we can.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
I’m going to be buying a small Cornish hen tonight and see if they’ll give it a try.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
Everyday either through my computer at home or through my iPhone. There is a chance I’ll be starting a job next week that will last for a few months. The job will have me out of town for up to 4 days at a time but my husband will continue to feed raw and update on this account.
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible).
Cyrano (named from the ferret in starship troopers)

Draco (Named for my favorite slytherin, even though he's not an albino he's very much an entitled brat but in a good way)
