The breasts were pretty big, big enough I would consider cutting it in half for dinner if I was serving it to people. It had a few slashes in it from where I cut it off the whole bird but other then that I just hung it up for them. They went right for it. Both of them.
Cyrano is being such a piggy. He eats more then Draco, but Draco is eating and neither of them are fighting over it so I'm not going to worry.
Tonight i'm going to try and give them some squash mixed with olive oil. Hopefully that will tempt them to take it.
The rest of the week is going to be chicken, I need to use it up (stupid mini fridge). What meat should I put on my shopping list for next week?
Also tomorrow morning I'll be watching a friends 4 year old from around 6-8 and then need to have Draco to the vet by 9. So I wont be updating until late afternoon.

That's great! For a while they will probably eat much more. Kinda like making up for lost time. Their appetite will slow down a bit in a month to 3 months.

As for the next meat, get whatever is affordable and available. Turkey necks, Cornish game hen, beef, pork, lamb are all great meats

One last question before I head to bed. Is trout ok for them to have? My mother in law has quite a bit stockpiled in her freezer.

Yes, fish is fine, though I'd limit it to once a week. And some ferrets gorge themselves and make themselves sick with fish, so just be aware

The boys are doing good. Eating well and pooping lots. Draco had his vet visit this morning and he's fine. Have some drops to put in his ears for a slight infection and the swelling is a hematoma that should go away in time. Though it will leave some scaring. I got them to eat some squash last night and I'll give them more tonight. Gonna do chicken breasts this morning and tonight between the vet visit this morning and the new cage tonight I don't wanna throw in new food. So I'm going to dedicate tomorrow morning to tempting them into eating organs. Going shopping this weekend and I think I'll grab some fish and venison from my mother in laws. So should have a nice variety for next week. Hubby thinks that we can get a whole rabbit from the local farmers market so we'll be looking into that. And he wants to know if the fuzzies can eat goldfish? Unless something crazy happens I'll be gone from mon-thur so hubby will be taking over updates and feeding. I'll still be checking the thread on my iphone though.

Awesome! Sounds like your boys are doing well Yes, they can eat goldfish, but be careful of where the come from. Lots of petstores use chemicals in the water Rabbit would be a great additional to menu. I warn you though, it stinks pretty bad even when fresh. It's also recommend to gut the rabbit first (fuzz won't eat the guts) to cut down on the smell. Keep up the good work

We just found out hubby's hours at work are changing again, he'll be working 7-6 or 7. Unless it's an issue I'll probably have him feed them chicken in the mornings next week while I'm gone. Because I know they will eat them with out fuss. In the evenings when he has a bit of time, or fri-sun we can work on pork or venison.
When we go shopping I'm also going to look for a taurine supplement and some fish oil. And when we get some free time we'll look around for a butcher and see if we can get other organs.

Yeah, feeding chicken for a bit shouldn't be a problem. If they start getting tired of it, you might have to start another protein in the AM, but they should be fine for a bit When looking for supplements, male sure the ingredients are just pure taurine powder, no fillers or additives. Same with the fish oil - look for plain fish oil, no natural flavors or anything.

Yesterday was just one of those days. Vet visit in the morning really threw everything off. Breakfast was late for them and they didn't get their normal morning play time. Because breakfast was late dinner was late. Hubby was home really late. It was just a late type of day. And the boys were not happy about the delays. But putting them in the bigger cage made up for it.
I cut up some organs, chicken heart, liver and one other organ that we weren't sure what it was. So hopefully they will eat that.
Cyrano has been having wetish poops which I figure is due to him eating chicken breast for two days and being a brat and not having more then a few licks of squash last night. I'm sure he's eating more then Draco too. Draco has been having smaller firmer poops, but he ate quite a bit of squash last night so I think that's part of it.
I'm going to give them the neck tonight. Tomorrow is laundry day (need to go to mother in laws for that as we are waiting on a washer/dryer) and grocery shopping so I probably wont post at all. But I will update sunday.
Good news about next week, I got the job yay! And even better next week is in town so I can work on new meats in the evening and still spend time with my sweet boys.

Good luck on the organs if they don't take it whole try blending it up. Expect dark wet stinky stools *yuck* it helps to feed a bit of squash with organs , and feeding a bone in meal after organs also seems to help. For the neck, you might need to smash it up a bit. Necks are really bony and my kids have issues with them unless they're crushed well. Congrats on the job !!!!!

Would it be ok to give them a chicken leg and thigh frozen tomorrow? If it's frozen it should last longer right?

Yes you can definitely give food frozen. Whether they eat it or not is another question ;D some ferrets (*ahem* Pixie ) won't eat frozen food, and very cold meats. Others really don't care ;D it will definitely help it last longer though, especially in the summer

I think I'll do that tomorrow then. With all the running around we have to do I'd rather not worry about if we end up being home a little late. And it's a big hunk of meat so it should do them for 2 meals. Do I hammer up the leg bones? I think I remember reading that eating leg bones can be an issue?
No luck so far on the organs. With how long they've been out I'm thinking it would best to just toss them soon and next week I'll try them blended with chicken. Little fuzz brats.

Sounds like it will be enough food for two meals Yeah I'd definitely give the legs a bit of a smash. They are really dense compared to other bones. Organs can be tricky - I am still blending organs here
