If you are breeding a broad hob you need a broad jill as her pelvis will be larger than a more slight jill and she should cope with birthing easier as for the unusual eye colour that's one road I would never go down there are ways of looking at a normal sable and seeing different colours some say the eyes are black some say the eyes are navy blue its simply a trick of the light and how it bounces around in the eye take care bye for now Bev

My first ferret was sable and she had odd eyes, one brown and one navy blue, both pupils were black though, I have seen sables with black, brown, blue and even green eyes but all with black pupils. Willow and Whisper have got navy blue eyes with burgundy/ruby pupils, sometimes Willow's eyes look purple. Both hobs have got deep ruby eyes not pink like some albinos (Jasper) and Nancy also has deep ruby eyes too.

Most reputable breeders will not ship. Our little ones are our lives, occasionally exceptions are made for friends but on a whole, kits are not shipped. Meetings can be arranged. Attend shows and meet up with breeders, put your name on their waiting lists. Have you had kits/ferrets before? Have you thought of adopting a shelter ferret? They're in need of new homes too. ciao

I've worked at a pet store when I was 16 for a few years and took care of the Ferrets. Didn't like how they were ordered or treated and did my best to what I could do within policy to find them great homes. The closest shelter to me doesn't have any and most breeders are out of state. The next shelter is 12 hrs away that has a few. At least from what I can find. And though it is great to adopt I find it hard at times as unfortunately you only get to spend the remaining years left with the lil fella and I want one from the beginning of his/her life cycle. I don't care about color or sex of whatever kit I choose. I just want it to be healthy and spoiled so I can continue on with the process.

And to be fair. Your little ones are your lives. That is great and fantastic. I respect that. But breeders have to start somewhere to. And a fixed ferret at a pet store or shelter isn't where you started. You have to get one from a good breeder

Shipping is risky stuff too. Stressful on the young ferret. It can get expensive. You would be looking at paying waaaay more than just a petsore kit, or even a kit from a shelter.

No I'm not looking to breed the kit. I just want to be able to have it sexually mature before I get it fixed. I believe he or she would be able to reap the benefits getting it fixed later around six to eight months old. Money is not really an option for me, as long as the kit is healthy. I am well aware of them costing more by doing this. however I believe it is a better option for the kits health not to be descented and fixed at such a young age. Tore me up when they would come into the petstore just being fixed and descented. They looked horrible. I am a 31/year old dad now and finally ready to take on the responsibility of having a few lil boogers. I wanted to make sure my house and son were old enough and that I could give it the time that is needed.

That's understandable. Where I live we don't have all those mills so we have to fix them when they reach 6 months or older. I didn't have my male done until he was ~7 months. As long as money isn't the issue, then thats all good. I just think that shipping would be stressful. But anyway, most reputable breeders won't ship out their young if they're under a certain age anyway.

Yeah I'm in Texas. Very hard to find a breeder. There is one and I'm on her list. But I'm way down there.

Joan is in your area too.....but I don't know if she's going to have another litter on the ground this year or not. She had an oops litter but both those kits have homes. She has some gorgeous ferrets. These are hybrids so they're another whole different type of ferret. They take mischief to a whole new level lol ciao
