Oh, and he's eating like a piggie. Yesterday's breakfast was chicken liver & turkey heart. It was gone when I went home at noon (to kill a snake in the dog's yard), and he was begging, so I gave him 'dinner' then - pork riblet. It was gone by the time I got home again at 2:00 to pick him up and take him to meet the baby. Then when we got home at 6:00, he was hungry again and ate 2 chicken wingtips. I left a neck in the cage for the night, and it was gone & he was begging for breakfast this morning. So about 6-7 ounces in 24 hours. At this rate, he's gonna pass 3 pounds in the next few days.

I ALMOST brought home a baby girl yesterday... still not sure that I'm not going back to get her. I really REALLY want another boy, but she is sooooo cute. And Slinkee likes her, not get-all-excited-likes-her, but really-wants-to-be-close-to-her-likes-her. So I don't know... i am partial to male ferrets also. i love males. they are cuddly momma's boys. but she is so cute how could you resist that little face.

I didn't (shy) Her name is Minnie and she came home last night. Ready for another switch? But I think an easy one. She's eaten almost an ounce of raw chicken this morning

Well, I think she's switched. She's sitting here chowing down on a pork riblet and I just heard crunch crunch crunch. (dance) Told you that would be easy

Minnie's starting weight is 13 oz. So far this morning, she's had almost an ounce of chicken chunks and about 2 ounces of pork riblet. She's crunching on the bone, but not getting much - it's too big even for Slinkee, but she's having fun

Weights this morning: Slinkee, 2 lb 13 oz Minnie, 15 oz, up 2 oz from yesterday
Yesterday's food intake: Slinkee, 2 bites of pork, 1 chicken wing, 1/2 chicken neck Minnie, 1 oz boneless chicken, 2 oz pork riblet (stolen from Slinkee), another 1 oz chicken, 2 chicken wings, 1 chicken neck, 1 turkey wing
Today's breakfast was supposed to be liver, so I gave them a LOT. Slinkee got maybe an ounce, Minnie inhaled the rest. So I went ahead and gave them 'dinner' so they'd have something to snack on during the day and it was almost gone when I left - Slinkee is guarding his and eating quickly this time, lol. Not sure what they'll have tonight..
Poops: Slinkee, still a little loose & funky, but getting better Minnie, LOTS! But they (and she) are definitely smelling better. They are much firmer than yesterday's.
Playtime went well last night, the first time Minnie actually wanted to get out of the cage. Slinkee wasn't too interested in playing at first because he discovered that we had cleaned out his stash of treasures. But once everything was 'put away' again, he played like a ferret! (dance)

i think minnie's poopies should start looking better after a week. looks like she is still adjusting to the new diet. takes a few weeks imo. funky poops always freak people out at first.

I was going to post what they ate each night for a while, but I don't even know tonight. They ate everything I had on the menu plus whatever was in the 'snack bag' for the rest of the week. I think Minnie probably ate most of it.
I KNOW that Slinks had at least one whole wing and some gizzard. There's food available right now & they're both sleeping soundly so I assume they both got enough to eat. I have to go see what's left in the freezer so I can leave something out for the night.

Weights tonight: Slinkee, 2lb 12oz; Minnie, 15.5oz
Poops: both terrible. Slinkee's are just very loose, so I'm pushing the bone & added a little egg shell to his gizzard. Minnie's are just plain bad, but her prolapse is better in spite of it.
Activity for both is fine.

Update this morning: I got up at 5:00 to check on her and she was hungry... no surprise. I gave her 1 oz of pork rib. At 6:30 it was gone & she was sleeping. She woke up when Slinks got up & came out to play for a few minutes. I fed them both & left her in the cage while I got ready for work. When I went to put Slinks away, she was sound asleep - and there was still food in the dish!! So Slinkee got to eat his fill in peace Last night when I went to bed, Minnie's little belly looked like it would burst from all the food. This morning at 5:00, it was teeny tiny again. Now, after eating a reasonable breakfast, she looks like a little round satisfied ferret, not bulgy but not skinny. Right now is the most relaxed I've ever seen her. Yes, she has slept before, but she's been jumpy. If there were any noises or anyone touched her, she would jump up nervously and look around. Just now, I moved her blankies & rolled her over to check her prolapse and vulva, and she just gave a deep sigh, stretched, and kept on sleeping Prolapse is nearly gone, in spite of her diarrhea which she still has, and vulva is not red any more, just a little swollen. I've seen her licking and biting at the area, but maybe since she's finally settling in, she didn't do that last night and gave it some time to heal. Slinkee is learning to like her. He let her snuggle up with him last night and suck on his ear, and this morning they had both moved to his favorite bed. He wouldn't let her in it with him on Monday. I just love that boy

I think vulva irritated from wood chips at pet store. Should resolve. Give it a few more days. I would estimate a kit would eat anywhere from 6-8 ounces a day. Hopefully she will get over that starving mentality soon. I am sure she was not fed enough at pet store. Definitely taken from mom too soon while still nursing.

I pm'ed you on facebook. finally got to log into the forum to post. i think it is my stupid phone. i won't be online from tomorrow friday thru Sunday prob late at night. so i will ask the other mentors to keep an eye on this thread in case you have any questions.
i would go ahead and start a whole new menu from scratch for the next 7 days. hopefully now you can adjust servings and plan the meals with Minnie in the picture. she kind of threw you off for a few days but that is to be expected whenever a new kid comes in.
