So we have discussed in other threads how we feel that Meeko is allergic to chicken so we are feeding him rabbit... but with in the past few days he has grown a fascination to Steve and Sahara's cage as well as their food... and they are on a chicken diet... . and just now before writing this post i had to take a chicken bone away from him... i know that they are supposed to be able to stash they're food and eat the bones my concern is the fact the Meeko is getting into it... how should i deal with this.. ??
And Yurei i will be calling the vet in the morning to set up an appointment. And thank you again so much, we really hope this works out and we'll definitely keep you updated.
On a brighter not he is eating willingly and finger fed and that's not all that's good, we got the ingredients for the IBD.
Thank you for your help again, you have all been great we appreciate it very much.

Is it known for sure he's allergic or sensitive to chicken? Could it just be adrenal caused IBD symptoms? Not sure when the chicken issue may have come up, but if you're worried I'd keep him separated from their food for now. You could always feed each group separately in a cage and take away the left overs. How has his scratching been lately? Is he still super itchy? Poor baby

Well i went to the appointment( and it was a journey ) And the vet has given us prednizone and clavamox. Which we are to give him twice a day for two weeks. He was very firm about not believing that meeko has adrenal, he feels that he has some form of IBD . But still wants to do deslorian** but would rather wait until we get Meeko stable. He also doesn't feel that he is allergic to chicken, he said that it very uncommon for ferrets to have a food allergy, but not impossible. So we plan to start giving him chicken once or twice a week and see how he does with it. He also is doing another fecal exam and i'll find out the results of that Tuesday. The Vet is going to call me in 2 weeks and if meeko is looking better than we will be scheduling an appointment to get him his deslorian implant , along with Steve and Sahara.

Did Dr. Dutton have any idea then why he is so itchy and losing his fur? IBD doesn't usually cause that as far as I know. I'm so glad he was willing to do something to treat though rather than just demanding blood panel after blood panel. A good probiotic wouldn't hurt if it turns out he does have IBD. If you ever need a stop over place on the way there or need someone to watch meeko, don't be afraid to give me a buzz. Would be more than happy to help a fuzz in need.

Thank you so very much again yurei, truly.
As far as the IBD and hair loss, my gf was the one who went ( i was at work sadly.. )and posted here, but you can bet dad was texting her away as she was at the appointment. With that said I also asked immediately when she text me that and she asked, he's assuming that it's from stress. He doesn't doubt that meeko is possible IBD he just feels that at his young of an age and and he felt the adrenal and felt that it's usually 2.2mm and meekos is approx 3.3 which hw said apparently isn't that bad, he said that due to seasonal times meeko is in heat at the moment so normal swelling is to be expected. He strongly feels about the IBD, I guess he doesn't feel it's traditional IBD, another form apparently..my gf cannot recall exactly what he was saying and between me texting every oh...half second lol I can't blame her. So he wants to see how this cycle does and then if we see anything eventually do the des. Once he's healthy enough.
All together I can't wait to be able to go and actually do a visit here myself, but more than anything I'd like to see how meeko reacts to this treatment... so far still kinda itching but y'know its only been a few hours on the pred. So time will tell.
Thank you again everyone. From all of us~

I really hope he didn't think meeko was in heat, your ferrets are MF farm ferrets I'm assuming? From what rdaniels says, intact ferrets are illegal in MA I think, so the chances of there being many is pretty rare, unless a spay was botched. Though I think Meeko's a boy? I think rdaniels is one of the few people with breeder ferts in the state.
Did you guys ever happen to get any sudocrem ordered to try? Hmm, you could try some reishi mushrooms if the meds don't help. I believe it's supposed to help with inflammation and is sometimes used for IBD.

Still awaiting the sudocream from amazon and my local natural food store is out of reishi powder so im awaiting there restock of that sadly, but hr is on a remedey from sherry of slippery elm syrup, pancreatic enzyme, and a good probio so were watching how that helps.
Yes meeko is a male MF ferret, im also not sure where the doc. Was referring too when he brought up the sexual.cycles, so that's why id like to go next time because it didn't quite make sence...i mean when he was going through his oily itchy phase I though possible over sex hormone production but obv not sure
and yes heather thank you very much, were hoping so much for progress in the right direction... Its been such a tough battle...ive been so stressed I apparently slept walked last night and placed a dirty bowl of milk in one of the cages...... I feel.horrible, I have absolutely zero recollection of it at all...thank you all again
