Something that *could* help in the interim are pain meds. My Boris' IBD would get so bad that his little tummy caused him a great deal of pain, especially when eating. Low doses of buprenorphrin eased that and he could eat. It's possible your wee one is having something similar happening, hence the trouble with force feeding.

Would some slippery elm help short term? I use it on the occasions Ollie goes off eating, then I stop when his appetite comes back because it can effect nutrient absorption.

So, my girlfriend has just gotten back from the vet. In Westford... And well I hate to say that nothing was accomplished and the vet again treated my gf as if we didn't know anything and interrupted her at every step and statement, told us that every thing we've done is wrong, that lupron treats glucose levels so treating it for adrenal is silly, saying that he has a pancreatic tumor and he needs to be sedated and operated asap.. She said she can do her own adrenal panel blood test by using a small sample of blood from him. She said that she wants him put on oxbox critical care carnivore which he's been on before and I didn't like it very much. Also she wants us to put him on nutrical.....
Our hearts hurt...so bad, meeko looks worse that before we went in due to be poked and proded im guessing. This is vet #4 and we still have no resolutions and meekos quality is declining rapidly, reality might be setting in?
Thanks all~ will update when home from the vet...

Well ill type up more tommorow, sorry have class at 6 and meekos finally on bed and were home from the vet, another thing while I remeber, this vet wanted to sedate to tale blood, felt that IBD could only be diagnosed via ultrasound, and that to do the ultrasound at this hospital meeko would have to be put down. Once again the vets just smacked us down and unfortunately meeko just isn't gaining health.
Thank you all~

I cannot believe what they are trying to pull on you! IBD, if you want a definitive diagnosis(the vast majority of vets go on symptoms alone) needs a biopsy of the bowel done in the exact right spot. Ultrasound won't support an IBD diagnosis Okay- last ditch homeopathic chance if it's IBD. Get pancreatic enzymes, slippery elm bark powder, probiotics, and reishi mushroom. Mix the enzymes into a soup more than one hour before feeding. Make up slippery elm(will give the link next post) and give 1/2 tsp 30 minutes before feeding. Just before feeding mix in 1/2 capsule reishi and a pinch probiotic powder. Feed three times a day. If it doesn't help- at least it won't hurt in any way. Lamb or rabbit meat is more easily digested, so Nature's Variety lamb is your best bet for now. The powders, etc you can get from your local health good store. Right now, almost any brand there will do.

I'm totally overwhelmed by the sheer stupidity and the lack of ....well you know what I mean I can't even imagine what you and your girlfriend are feeling right now. Poor Meeko. Is there not a vet who will step out of the line and make a diagnosis, even if it makes another vet look like a total *ss . Try what Sherry suggested, the coctail might help his stomach, but it won't help his itchies I'm afraid I feel totally useless in helping you out I'm sorry, for you and for Meeko There has to be someone out there who can help him. ciao

Thank you all for the kind words and help, truly you all have been more of a crutch and help then you'll know. As for the remedy ill most definatly try that when I get out of class and can make my rounds to purchase all the stuff.
I just cannot do or say anything im so appaled at how we've been treated, er well NOT treated in this case...every vet has just seemed to bring us through the ringer only to not find a root problem and thus blame it on us for out food choice or for us waiting too late which when the latest vet told my gf this she broke down, because we haven't...meeko has been to 4 different vets and an emergency clinic... So for a vet to talk down and say we haven't tried hurts....hurts bad.
The kicker, after the visit was down my gf looked the vet dead in the eyes and asked her " so your allowing meeko to go home tonight with NO treatment and in worse shape than when we brought him in " the vet looked her back and said " yes sorry " and walked out... Truly appalling behavior.. That had given us 0 optimism and I think it's rubbing off on meeko because he's just...not him anymore :/ definate quality of life issues at the moment
thank you all again and ill keep updated when im out of class and what not...

I FOUND YOU A VET THAT WILL GIVE YOU A LURPON SHOT WITH NO TEN PANEL!!! www.weareanimalhospital.com/I just called them and told them the general situation and they said that while they would recommend the panel they would certainly give the shot to treat, especially if money's an issue. I know it's a long drive for you guys, if you had to you could meet me at my place and I'd take you up the rest of the way into NH. I feel so bad for your little guy. If you need help getting there give me a call, my number is 603 554 5848. I'll be in an interview from 10:30-11:30 but I'm free the rest of the day. My god, was that Dr. Earl who acted like that with him??? Cause she's never been like that for me. I would have verbally b**** slapped them so hard! I don't put up with crap for vets, if they're in it for the animal and not the money they'll do what you ask if it's not putting the animal in further danger.

No, Dr. Earl is away on vacation for another week so she couldn't see us. But after we called them they actually REALLY wanted to see Meeko immediatly and took us in asap (at an added expense ofcourse) so that could have possibly been the error right there...but he obviously needs treatment asap.
We'll look into this vet as well...it seems as though it's a one man show? Did i read that correctly? The guy specializes in all areas..but hey if it works it works. Thank you very much Yurei

He seems to do several species with a specialization in ferrets. He does des implants too I'm told and his pricing seems reasonable for shots and exam fees. He was suggested to me by a member on the HFF FB group. I'm sorry you couldn't see Dr. Earl. I trust her to do what's right for the animal generally speaking and she will usually listen to an argument. No idea who the other idiot was.
