Yurei he does have allergies. The symptoms are pretty classic allergy related dermatitis symptoms IMO. You see the same thing in dogs and cats. We have ruled out infections, fungus, etc already, so that leaves allergies. The problem is that with it being so extreme, as well as the IBD-like issues there is a chance that he is also adrenal, exacerbating any other underlying issues.

So update... Sorry to be not in the ball..just a whirlwind of emotions through here....
Anyway, meeko is eating like a champ still and pooping and peeing like crazy and it all looks great. Issue with that I feel it's ALL due to the pred. And I don't know where the line between recovery and chemical dependency starts or ends.... But time will tell...
Issue that is of huge concern now.... He's still licking himself, not itching anymore but licking himself raw... Only his front legs, and just the leg portion where his shoulders intersect, the joints if you will...
Already called the vwt and they don't know what it is....this is the vet. In NH, he said h*ll call us back if he thinks of something but he doesn't feel it's super important...
Were here with meeko and well it IS important, hw licks... 24/7... He's sleeping now but guess what he's doing In his sleep....licking his legs raw...liyerally red and inflammed raw..
I'm awaiting the sudocrwam still...amazon shipping from UK is ridiculous... I don't know what else to do..some have suggested low dose of baby Benadryl? That's antihistamine though...which i don't know how that'll help so.much..
Thank you again all...his health for the most part is better, he's eating.. He doesn't do much else at this point but he eats like a dang piggy so im not complaining, its now just his poor skin, its all so so so raw... Thank you all~

It sounds like IBD was causing him not to eat, since the pred is doing so well. And while waiting for the reishi to do it's job, ask the vet what dosage of children's Benadryl would be for his weight. That should give him some relief to start healing.

Yeah, my gf and I both thought the children's Benadryl and we mentioned it to the vet and they kinda shied it off.. But I think well try it. And yes, everything else seems to be helping him very much...hes eating so so much, I'm guessing his body is just trying to play catch up because he really is just chowing down, we've been pacing him because he eats so much.
Well left another message with the vet to see what to proceed with next, regardless we here thank you all again so much ~

TBH, unless he eats so much that he throws up I'd be letting him have what he wants. His little body has a lot of nutrition that it needs to catch up on.

Yeah we do...i guess what I meant was like he gasps heavily while eating because of the speed at which he's eating, so we just monitor that..because no he hasn't gotten sick because of it..just overly concerned for him is all lol...

With what's been happening with him, it's understandable! The good thing is he may not have to be on the pred for a long time. With Boris it took a month for the inflammation in the bowels to calm down enough to start weaning him slowly off the pred. Just keep in mind it can't be stopped suddenly, it has to be slowly cut down.

Has anyone dealt with anxiety in their ferrets? some dogs lick excessively from anxiety, maybe his licking isn't physical but mental? Can you try some RR to see if that takes the edge off and lowers his compulsive licking?

Licking like that can become simply a habit for many animals. Why not ferrets? And the RR certainly won't hurt him.

So fot the RR, I apologize what's that?
And in regard to the anxiety yes, yes I agree completely.. I've been fortunate enough to only have jobs with animals my whole career thus far, with that said I've seen plenty cases of what's called acral lick dermatitis which is simply over licking of usually the paws in response to stress, anxiety, fungi, bacterial, or other issues. The concept is that endorphins are released when licking...thus the animal is hooked...
So I completely agree that meeko could have severe stress I mean...da*n I know I do... Plus all his samples have come back clean.
So..in the past I've used flower essences with a certain degree of success. I was reading through my book and found a power pack so to speak.. Its as follows..
Rose rock, impatiant, cherry plumb, clematis and star of Bethlehem.
So maybe try? At this point I think that's what it is because he just can't stop...h*ll eat, poo, run for a little.then lick silly and fall asleep.. His eyes look great though..so much life back in them.
Again thank you all~

Rescue Remedy can be purchased online, Amazaon carries it as well as some of my local holistic human and pet food stores, if you have any near you. RR makes a great chewing gum for humans too.
If you get RR, I recommend the pet or infant formulas as opposed to the normal adult one as they do not contain alcohol in them.

Here is the site for all the flower essences: www.bachflower.com/You can mix and match, if I remember correctly, up to 3.

Yuppers, ironically enough my essence book listed those essences..but yes we went out and got the kids version of bach's RR and have begun the dosing.
One other odd note, I know we've mentioned it before but Meeko's been more so than usual trying to get into Steve and Sahara's cage..I had them seperated until Meeko's health increased as the other two are rough.
So our question being...other than Meeko licking himself in his arm pits nd making them all wet and nasty he's seemingly ok...The other thing is he's still slightly scabby and obviously lots of hair loss. Those things aside my other fear of putting them all back together is Meeko's food...since we have him on a strict diet and not so much for the others the food would be quite an issue as Meeko NEEDS an open bowl policy as much as he's been eating...so that's a toughy.
I guess our real question...are we being mean for declining him from getting into the cage with them occasionally when he wants too?
