Proteins: chicken, lamb or beef & the combination patty has chicken lamb, beef & pork.
Snickerdoodle is still being a diva about it. How long was your longest hold out? I'm being patient with her & giving up on her is not an option, but I just want to see what I might be up against. :-P

Boris. Without a doubt. For 6 weeks he spat, retched, gagged, twisted, and just in general was convinced I was poisoning him ;D Mind you- shortly after that he rapidly went from soup to chunk. What exactly is the problem with the little one? Is she refusing to taste it, or eat from a spoon, a dish, what?

She is just refusing to take it from the spoon even if I'm scruffing her. When I get her to take some she will sometimes regurgitate it.

Does she regurgitate even if she takes it from your finger? How forcefully is she doing this(is she simply "spitting up", or is it full body vomiting) How soon after feeding the raw? And how much is she taking? How soon before attempting the raw are you removing the kibble? What I'm trying to figure out is if she's doing this from stress, from an upset tummy(raw too soon after eating kibble), or if she may have a sensitivity or even an allergy.

I usually give it to them before they have access to kibble as not to upset their stomach. She does the full body thing. Now she doesn't do it all the time & it really isn't a lot that she's taking. I guess I'll have to resort back to rubbing it on her gums.

I believe you mix everything together? If so, try her with just a single protein like the chicken and see how she does with that. Some ferrets find beef too rich, especially at the beginning.

Okay. I'll give that a shot & see what's up with her. :-P

I did want to post an observation about Stig. Since he's been on the raw diet, his coat has gotten sleeker & softer & he has even gained some weight. When I got him he came with Marshall's Premium Chicken kibble. Yeah, he got off of that REAL fast. LOL!
I've noticed with Snickerdoodle that if I REALLY force it on her is when she regurgitates the food. So I'm thinking that maybe I'm getting too aggressive with her (because I'm a bit frustrated with her). I'll work on being more gentle with her & see what kind of results I get.
I did order a bunch more FD food. I've been mixing some FD in with their kibble (for what I do give them since I have the two older ferts that need to have access to food) & they don't really notice it & gobble it up. With the FD, they'll be getting turkey, duck, goose, lamb, venison, fish & pheasant.

Out of curiosity- are you removing the kibble for a minimum of two hours before trying the raw with your more stubborn ones?

I'm giving her raw right after I wake her up before I put her back in the cage. So yes. She did pretty good tonight. I think I need to give it to her first since no one else will lick off all the ferretone. ;D I did have to scruff her a bit, but then I released her & she was still licking some from the spoon. I'll continue to give her the raw first. I just let her lick the spoon until she was done so she knew I wasn't forcing her. I told her I was proud of her & gave her kissies & scritchies.

Doodle is doing better. I'm not being too forceful with her. She's taking a little at a time, but she is keeping it down. I'll continue to do this.

Snickerdoodle is still taking the mixture via the spoon. I'm working on moving it down into the food. Some nights I have to scruff her, other nights I don't. I feel like we're making progress. :-)

She is one stubborn monkey! Okay. Start feeding with the spoon almost in the dish(maybe an inch above) After she takes two or three licks set the spoon on the dish, and don't let her run off. If need be raise the dish maybe half an inch, then set it right back on the dish right under her nose. Not sure what dish you are using but a small flat plate works best for this.

Yeah, I normally use a bowl. I will switch to a plate. I might not post in frequently as I have a paper & a project due coming up plus finals. So please excuse my absence. I'll still be feeding them the raw, it's just my time on my laptop will be preoccupied with other things. :-)
