I'll start with a happy note: Thomas our foster ferret is going to his forever home tomorrow. I'll post pictures of him with his new Daddy soon. Appetites are coming up today as the group was barely eating 8oz a day after Precious died. I'm having to hand feed Jeremy raw soupies or he doesn't eat. I have given him several doses of sub q fluids. Crash has started eating on her own again but I still have to hand feed her occasionally. We went to a goat show a few hours from here Sunday through Monday. I found a pet friendly motel. Jeremy, Crash & Our other foster Lindsey slept there with us and the rest spent the night at Sandi's. Then all of them stayed with Sandi Monday while the goats where being shown. While there Jeremy walked slap into several items in their play area. So we are now watching to see if he is experiencing vision loss. We have added a young female ferret Ava born 11/13-19/2011. I was reluctant to do it but she is the reason Crash and Jeremy are recovering from loosing Precious. We might have lost them if she wasn't there snuggling them constantly. She is so sweet. There have been no objections from anyone in the group about her joining. They all love her. Today I picked up a dew who had been rescued by a well meaning man from friends of his that where keeping her in a small crate without a litter box and never playing with her. He believes she is about 10 months old. She has been eating cat food and the poor little girl looks awful. I simply couldn't not take her after hearing her story. Unfortunately the man who saved her knew little about ferrets and indulged her in her unhealthy habits mainly because he wanted to spoil her after her experience with the previous owners. I'll post pictures as she settles in. I feel run over mainly.

I'm so glad both Jeremy and Crash have found a reason to go on. It's so important. And good news about the increase in appetites as well! Even if Jeremy does have to be spoon fed right now. That closeness will also help him in dealing with his grief. Even if that fellow did overindulge the wee DEW, kudos to him for having his heart in the right place

He is unemployed and found odd jobs to do in order to raise the money to buy her from them. He will receive updates on her as he does love her. Of course the only time she paid them any attention due to lack of socialization was when he allowed her to have a sugary treat.

Almost forgot that I made this thread. We have another permanent foster. His name is Marcel. He is between 3-4 yrs old and is blind. Right now he attacks other ferrets if they touch him. I have him in one of the FN squares and am hoping to introduce him slowly to some of our quieter ferrets. Maybe he will not be a single ferret forever. Marcel is great with humans. Jeremy's fur began turning orange on his belly at the beginning of Dec and has move to most of his body. So he will be off to the vet soon to have some test done to determine the cause. Coontail has done well over the last month. Hopefully the treatments will continue to keep him feeling well for a few more months.

Marcus is gorgeous And there is definitely hope he can be integrated! If we could integrate Lucrezia, I honestly believe that given the right circumstances almost any ferret can be integrated ;D And I hate to say it, but Jeremy's yellow/orange fur is most likely adrenal

If it is adrenal I'm thinking surgery and an implant. Yes if your girl can be happy in a group again then there is hope. I'm going to give him time to get comfortable with our house before starting. He just doesn't have to same confidence that Grace does.

Welcome Marcel. Also maybe if he can be integrated he can find a seeing eye ferret for a buddy, as other blind ferrets before him have done.

It is definitely Jeremy's liver. We are putting him on milk thistle and seeing how he responds to that. Apparently life at home has gotten to boring for Furby as he bounced around the vets office like a rubber ball when accompanying Jeremy there today. We've found out why no one messes with Grace because if you make her squeak even a little bit Doc will trounce you into the ground ;D I believe he is smitten with her Not sure that she is returning his devotion.

As everyone here knows, it never ends with these little ones. I was so happy when we made it passed the 1yr anniversary with Crash. Now she has a round lump in her side. Wondering if her losing from 1lb 12oz to 1lb 4oz is more than just loosing winter weight. Off to the vet again.

Oh no Hoping it's just a slightly enlarged spleen. It is on the other side. It is small about the size of a sweet pea and hard. It doesn't seem to be attached to an organ. We are going to watch it for changes and have it seen about this weekend.

The vet feels that Crash's lump was a cyst. I took her into get it removed on Monday and it was gone It was there in the morning and gone by 10:30 am. We are keeping everything crossed that it stays gone. She looks like she feels much better since it ruptured. Sasha & Sam have come home to stay. They had been at the shelter for a month waiting to be picked up. Sasha was biting really bad and it got worse after I visited. So it was decided that they would stay as she can't be placed biting like that. They are integrated into the group and eating raw. I also need to introduce Clark. He was purchased by our vet from his owners because he had Colitis and they refused to follow through on his treatments. He is all better now. Clark is 7 months old and so sweet. He get along with everyone. He will be our last ferret for awhile.
