I can't seem to go a month lately without have a ferret sick. 99% sure Casper and Copper have insolinoma. Bg's respectively, 55, 70, not fasting. I don't know when they ate last. Both are on raw diets and have shown hind end weakness. Doc said the meter can be off by 10-20 pts. In either direction. I'm starting the pred and will see if they respond. 8 insolinoma boys in the rescue right now, 5 with me.
On the upside, we have had several adoptions in the past month.

Adoption day went great today. We generated some interest in the ferrets and two dogs are in the process of getting adopted. I posted a few pics on our Facebook. (Sorry, can't seem to post here, no photobucket account.)

We have a new arrival today. Honey, a sweet chinchilla. He family is moving overseas and can't take her or find a long term sitter. Honey is also seal ng with the recent unexpected loss of her sister. We're going to give her some extra TLC and hopefully have her ready for adoption very soon.

Another great adoption. Nermal now has his own family to pamper him. They started by ordering a critter nation cage and bedding.

Two in-takes this week. They were dump on an uncovered porch at a neighbors house when she was out of town. The owner moved. Keep in mind I'm in Florida! She took the in when she found them, treated them for a bad flea infection, tried to cool them down, bathed them, and trimmed nails. Thankfully the revolution also killed the mites they had. I also found out that a few weeks earlier the little girl got stuck on a rat glue trap and they had been adopted a month earlier from Craigslist. Since the a.c. in her place was having trouble keeping the temp down during the day, we drove over that day to get them. They appear to be a year old and really sweet.

People really suck sometimes. Good thing the nice neighbor was able to get to them in time and knew what to do for them.

We just had a major illness sweep through the rescue. Doc thinks it is a bacterial infection, but we sent off for further testing. Everyone got sick. We lost three, but it looks like we saved the others. Lots of subq fluids, meds, and carnivore care. We have two insulinoma boys who are in bad shape, but doing better. Tomorrow everything is getting bleached again. DIP Captain, Casper, and Luke.

Quick update. Our numbers are down at the moment, which is a relief. We have one with adrenal and one with a gastro problem, which we think is responding to meds. Several of our guys are passing the four year mark. However, we have had several adoptions this year and are very happy for that, including one of our older guys who lost his buddy in August. He hit it off great with his new girl and they snuggled immediately after playing. I'm so happy he has a buddy!
We recently lost our public adoption location. The new manager has decided that the ferrets are not permitted in the store, and suggested that we set up a table with pictures. Donations had already been cut nearly in half by his earlier policy change, so we are now looking for alternative funding. Thankfully, Ferret Fabulous Finds on Facebook is sponsoring the Navarre Ferret Rescue this week. Check them out! If you want to send anything our way, we could use some dook soup and wonkies. A % of all sales go to the rescue.

Happy to announce that we have partnered with a local PetSmart. We now have a chinchilla and bonded pair of ferrets at their store in the large display cages. We maintain control over the adoption process, but gain the exposure. The are feeding and caring for them according to our requests. It has been less than two weeks and Medu and Badger have a very promising potential adoption.

I have fantastic news! We partnered with PetSmart in June. They allow us to use two animal display cages, but we still control the adoption. We just adopted our last pair of two ferrets. We have a ferret/cat pair that are looking forward to their turn to show off and a three legged guy who is probably going to be taken in by a volunteer. Other than them, the inly ferrets remaining are permanent residents due to age/health. It has been an amazing two months! Nine babies have found their forever homes.😂
