Thank you Jackie. I weighed four of the ferrets today: sable female, two ears, 15.4 oz. sable female, 1/2 ear, 15.3 oz. sable female, missing ear, 14.9 oz. cinn. male, large boned & long, 1 lb. 8.5 oz. The intact male (saw the evidence tonight) seems to have decent weight, so I didn't push it with him. He did allow me to pick him up without trying to bite me. We also found a vet today that can order the Des for us and is offering us a discount on it. I was so happy to hear that. I was even happier when I got the call that we received a large donation that will cover the des and some food. I was so worried about how we would afford to keep the shelter going and pay the vet bills and I nearly cried when I heard the news.

Two new arrivals, Buddy and Bandit. We were told buddy is 7-8 years old and Bandit is 5-6 years old. I doubt they will get adopted and I was completely honest with her about it. On top of being a senior, Buddy is adrenal and hasn't seen a vet in his life since he left the pet store. We are trying to get them an appointment this coming week. Taking into consideration his age, limited finances, and that the hair loss isn't too advanced, which treatment do you think is most appropriate?

I would use the DES too. It's the most cost effective. ciao

Thanks. Couple more updates: Cruiser and Vault were returned to the rescue. Although I hesitate to send them to another foster, they will be going to my rescue partner's home as I think they will get more one-on-one time there that will make up for being moved again. She is fine with them being a long term foster. The return this time was due to bad alergies that must have developed as an adult because the person had ferrets as a child. She tried all types of things in order to keep them, but it didn't work and her health was deteriating. Apollo was adopted and his new home is keeping him on raw. YEA! Sweet couple that have stayed in contact asking questions and doing everything they can for their new guy. We have nearly all the rescues in fn cages. Many of the pairs are in one level, but we hope to average one ferret per level. However, there seems no shortage of little ones in need of help. I have a dedicated play area for them in the rescue room now. It is similar in size to an 11 panel playpen. right now I am using a tarp to waterproof the floor, but still hope to stain and seal the concrete. Thanks to a great suggestion, I just sent in information to join Save Our Shelters.
