Hahaha, Flexie is one of a kind. I think it might be easier to grab unevenly torn piece of meat. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe she's just trying to see how much she can push me. Lol
Either way, she ate chunks on her own, and I'm very grateful for that. She's getting thin and I'm worried that she'll break when Mango plays rough with her. It's time that she starts eating and put the weight back on.

Perhaps she has her seasons reversed? She may think that Spring is coming.
Don't worry about Mango and Flexie playing. My whippet thin Juliet can beat any of mine throughly in play. That includes my big boy Wynstan and Roamy who plays hard with her and is all muscle.

Maybe so. Ferret logic.
I think most boys know they have to be easy with girls. But sometimes Mango doesn't know that the other ferret is not enjoying the rough play. He leaves open wound on other ferrets' necks. :-(
Ok. Time to go get that paperwork all signed! Bye!

Yay! Flexie is really starting to open up to eating the new food!! Flexie is so strange by liking uneven edges of meat compared to clean edges. I wonder if thats just her personal preference? Flexie tell us why its better~~~ I cut chicken thigh meat when its partially frozen. I think the slippery meats cut easier partially frozen. ;u; Leela is also eating well! They both are eating the right sizes for a female. You should be happy! You're doing amazing and it's already starting to pay off! Isn't it a great feeling when stubborn ferrets start eating? I was ecstatic for my girl too! I'm also extremely happy with both Flexie & Leela. They're such good little girls! Congrats on your first house! That must be so exciting! Flexie eating chunks on her own is a great success. You've been working so hard to get to that stage. I was worried for Haru when both my boys play with her. Boys love to rough play and I'm always alittle worried for her though we don't have any reason to worry. Females regardless of size, can become quite fiesty with the males. My little girl, Haru, can put my boys in their places and their like 2-3 her size! Flexie appearing thin, could be that she's becoming lean from starting on raw. I noticed the same with all of my ferrets. Especially my girl. As long as their are no visible ribs then she should be just right. Reversed seasons is interesting. That could be the reason. I heard about it from pretty much everyone on here and I never even understood what it was until recently. Cheeky boys you have! I'm sure the girls will put them on the spot eventually. Mango sounds like he really puts the rough in rough play for sure. Since ferrets have such thick skin, you can really imagine how rough he'd have to be to place an open wound on another ferret. My 2 yearold boy Beavis came with a scab caused from a 9month old at the rescue. It could be because Mango is pretty young and just needs to learn to be alittle more gentle. When my boy Yuki was 6 months, he used to play really rough with Haru but now he's 10 months and seems to be becoming more gentle. Hopefully Mango also learns to be softer with his rough playing on the older girls. Have fun with all your paper work! See you later~

@machan @akane is being a little devil over on FB. I opened the page, saw her post and about dropped to the floor. How do you say "Bad Girl" in Japanese?

hahahahaha! Gotcha! I'm so bad. I even have been cooking that exact line for a couple weeks. I probably will be "defriended" by people who see that post and not read through... lol Oh well, that's ok. No ferrets harmed in the making of this joke.
Of course, they will come to our new home. Us overgrowing this tiny one bedroom apartment was the main reason to get a house. I just wanted a place where our ferrets can be free all the time. Right now the boys have to live in their FN cage and they get their daily play time. (But the girls are free roam. It's not fair!) They all will be free in their own room 24/7!

Practical joke aside.... Rabbit dinner #2 was not very popular. I kind of expected this reaction, since they didn't seem to be very thrilled the first time. Leela ate quite a few pieces from my fingers. I like that she takes "noodles" from my hand now! She ate it with bone meal marinated water. Flexie had to be bribed with soupie marinade. Together they ate maybe 0.4 oz. I'll try again later.

They had bugs bunny for dinner. They look like they did well. You could try giving rabbit to them for the next few meals. Get them use to it. Unless you want to stick with Mango and Mitch's dinner plan and keep everyone on the same page. I'm heading off the bed now. It's been rather a long day. Behave yourself now Akane...no scaring the tired Stephanie. Congratulations again on your first house. It's a special one and I know you will be happy there and enjoy being a homeowner. :wave3:

Ok... No more bad jokes!
I can give them rabbit for the next few meals. The faster they get used to it, the better. Leela seems ok-ish with rabbit. I need to get that Flexie girl up to the speed with this.
Good night Stephanie! <3

I just got home and this is what I saw... I think they licked the water and pushed the meat to the edge of the plate. :-( I will have to hand feed them. Last night leela actually did very well on rabbit after all. She ended up eating 0.6 oz all by herself, no water. I did give her each piece by hand. She's doing great!! Flexie, I'm not sure. She didn't want rabbit until I used some soupie gravy on top. I will try without first. Now I'm off oy band rehearsal. Be back later tonight!

Hi! I'm back. I have fed Leela and she ate 0.4 oz. rabbit. She's getting really good at this. I still wet her food, but that's all it takes for her. Should I do another rabbit meal tomorrow morning? The problem is that she won't eat on her own. She didn't touch her breakfast this morning, because I didn't sit with her. Flexie is refusing to eat rabbit. I put her in my arms the same way I do with Leela. She licked the rabbit, so that's progress. But she won't eat it plain. So I added soupie gravy. She ate all 0.4 oz. rabbit chunk this way. The size of their meat today. I think I'll make Leela's chunks bigger tomorrow. She's doing fine with this size. I'll continue to work with Flexie. Yawn. I'm so sleepy.... Hope you had a great day, ladies! <3 I'm off to bed now.

I think they licked the water and pushed the meat to the edge of the plate. :-( I will have to hand feed them. Are you certain they didn't at a few pieces? They probably may have. How did hand feeding go? Last night leela actually did very well on rabbit after all. She ended up eating 0.6 oz all by herself, no water. I did give her each piece by hand. She's doing great!!Leela is such a good girl! 0.6oz is really good. How many oz of meat do you put on the plate? Sometimes alot of meat can seem overwhelming. Flexie, I'm not sure. She didn't want rabbit until I used some soupie gravy on top. I will try without first.
It does seem she needed that gravy for alittle extra nudge to try the meat, but as long as she's trying it, then its a good start for her. Sometimes ferrets can also get bored with certain meats as well. Welcome back, How did your rehearsal go? ^^// I have fed Leela and she ate 0.4 oz. rabbit. She's getting really good at this. I still wet her food, but that's all it takes for her. Should I do another rabbit meal tomorrow morning? The problem is that she won't eat on her own. She didn't touch her breakfast this morning, because I didn't sit with her.Do you freeze your meat and thaw them out? Sometimes you can get the red liquid when you thaw them out. (Taaaurrrine soupie~~) have you noticed that? Using that as a dressing can also help with coaxing them into trying the meat. How about trying a new meat if possible? They've been doing well with rabbit, but they could possibly becoming bored of that type of meat. Flexie is refusing to eat rabbit. I put her in my arms the same way I do with Leela. She licked the rabbit, so that's progress. But she won't eat it plain. So I added soupie gravy. She ate all 0.4 oz. rabbit chunk this way.Flexie being stubborn again I see. She's a funny character. It could be that she just prefers the rabbit with some soupie. You may as well try feeding her that way for a while and each time put less and less soupie in it. She's still doing great. Flexie is getting better at this. The size of their meat today. I think I'll make Leela's chunks bigger tomorrow. She's doing fine with this size. I'll continue to work with Flexie.
Thats a great idea! Leela has been doing great, so its about time she tries a bigger size. Flexie still needs some work, but she's eating more than she doesn't eat, so its really something. ;u; Today my lot had their organ meals but unfortunately my blender broke on me so I cannot make it into a puree. (sad sad day) My Haru doesn't like organ thats not pureed. She's also quite fussy, much like Flexie. She never touched it, so I had to mash it by hand. (ugh) It kind of reminded me about Flexie, how she prefers it with gravy. Ferrets are such intriguing animals. Anyway, I'm off to prepare dinner for my three. Give the girls a hug for me!!

Oh no! Your blender broke? I hope it's fixable. These things are not cheap! But on the bright side, that can be an excuse to get a new one. Hehehehe I've never tried organ meals intact. My ferrets like to drag things, so I'm afraid that they would make a mess. Breakfast was not very popular... I decided to forgo rabbit this morning and give them frog legs. The whole thing was still there when I got home. I'll try again tomorrow. But the dinner was a HUGE success!! Leela ate 1.0 whole oz. of chicken hearts!!! With just a little bit of water. When i was fighting with Flexie, she came along and started eating on her own. Isn't that amazing? She left a few pieces, so picked her up and hand feed her to make sure that was all she could eat. She finished everything I gave her. Flexie fought me for a little while, but I told her "I won't give you chicken soupie gravy for chicken hearts, silly girl. Chicken on chicken is just ridiculous.... It's like getting a side of mashed potatoes and french fries!" (My husband does that.) Then I gave her the fatty end first. She started eating from my finger, with just water. I knew she could do it!!! She has eaten about 0.2 oz so far, so I'll try again later and give her another 0.2 or more. This is Flexie saying "well, Leela is eating it. I wonder if it's good." I'm very impressed with them today!
