Good Afternoon. This morning the lovely Miss Keller wanted to eat. The others were roaming about and so I hand fed her and kept an eye out for my other ferocious beasties who only want to play with her. I watched her while I thought of you. She had four thin slices of fatty pork. That was enough for her. I still think that perhaps you expect the girls to eat more than they need to. I certainly did in the beginning. We both get so anxious about their eating. It is important that the girls eat. Your switch began in February, so that's awhile now. We don't want any imbalances to occur, so make sure that they are receiving calcium in the form of bonemeal powder to hold them until we get the girls eating some bone in meals. I think the girls now winter is coming and they will eat more. They've turned a corner and are beginning to really try. That's progress and that's what we want.

Hi Gina! That's true. I used minimal amount of water in their soup, but still I had to add some.
Flexie used to eat about 1.0 oz. or less soup. Leela usually 1.2-2.0 oz. They ate maybe half the plate this morning, so they probably ate about 0.3 oz. together. That's really not much at all. At least they are starting to open up a little bit, but I'm still convinced that they should eat more.
I will dust some bone meal powder over their meat. Poncesmom is right, it's been a while since they stopped eating kibble. Flexie didn't start her switch until long after the boys switched though. I have to look at my notebook to see exactly how long she's been on soup.

Haru didn't eat much today either. She usually eats 2 ounces but today she had less than 1 ounce of organ puree and was full. ;u; It's so funny!! You guys are going into winter right? I'm going into summer soon. It's currently spring~
Flexie and Leela are doing very well so don't feel too anxious if they're eating less. ;u; They'll eat more in time. The more you be persistent and keep up what you're currently doing, the more they will begin to change their little ferret thoughts on raw. ^u^

Haru is such a cutie. I love his v mask! Haru and Mitch have that sad face marking.... Mitch gets extra attention just because his mask makes him look that way. After all, they had eaten 0.2oz of chicken wings this morning. Beef wasn't wildly popular with the girls.... AT ALL. Leela would lick the water, but she doesn't want to eat any of it. Flexie wouldn't even go for the steak flavored water. Instead of giving them something else, I'll just leave the steak there.... That's the drill, right? I honestly don't know how they are staying alive eating so little. Leela is carrying her favorite toy across the room right now. She's crazy! Without much food, where is she getting this energy? Flexie is being destructive again. She must be hungry and angry. I don't know what to do with this child. Oh! I didn't tell you about my trip to the market yesterday. I got two rabbits, 5 turkey hearts and 3 lbs. of chicken wings. The butcher lady asked me if I were ready for the game. I didn't think of it at the time, but buying 3 lbs. of wings seems appropriate for the football night to the general public. That's probably why she said that. Lol I like buying ferret food every weekend, so I don't have to do much chopping at once. I only paid less than $20 for all that. Good deal!

Great shopping trip. You're going to get some good meals from all of that. (giggle) I get advice on recipes everytime I buy quail. I just say Thank you and smile politely. Then my husband asks me when I will cook him quail.
I adore the masks on ferrets. It makes them look so darn cute and mischievous. I also love the Blaze stripe. Okay, I just love and want them all... :heehee:
Correct! Tonight is beef night. Let the beef sit out all night if necessary. Quiz question: Why do we want them to have a red meat meal once a week.
On your plate, see the fatty pieces? Take one with alot of fat and offer it to Leela or Flexie with the fat end first. Dangle it in front of her, get it wet or even put a little raw egg on it. See if that helps.
It is scarey how little females will eat in the summer. I'm seeing an increase in appetite and it's getting cooler here.
Naughty little Flexie. I'm developing a real fondness for that little character. She has so much personality.

I never thought Haru would have gotten a mask. Its really quite recent with all her shedding. ;u; Mitch is such an adorable ferret. He looks so gentle! I hear beef can have a strong flavour. My three love their beef, but I guess its all ferret preference. Yes, Instead of trying something else, try leaving it there and check up on them again soon. You could also try hand feeding it to them again later incase they have a change of appetite. ^^ Female ferrets are so strange like that. My boys eat like piggies sometimes and my little girl Haru eats very little. It worried me alot when I was switching. Awh! Leela what a cutie!! One of my boys, Beavis, was doing the same thing just a second ago. He has this little cute unicorn toy that was his favourite at the rescue before I brought him home. ;u; It sounds like she's throwing a tantrum. Remember not to give in! Haru used to cage rage at the start of the switch and Yuki used to mess up the cage, scratch and tip over their litter etc.

Hi! I had a very busy day, but I finally got most things done... Whew! Everybody ate their half organ beautifully today. Leela ate 0.6 oz., Flexie 0.4 oz., Mitch 1.0 oz., and Mango 0.8 oz. I don't know if it's the taste or texture, but Flexie is quite fond of liver meal. Since she likes it so much, I used some of that as gravy on top of her turkey heart. She ate it! Not very much, but she definitely picked up some noodles and ate them. Good girl!! Leela is hiding somewhere, and I can't find her. But she'll get to try the turkey when she wakes up from her nap. The boys ate 2.0 oz turkey hearts together. Turkey hearts with liver gravy over them---for the girls.

Thanks for posting that video of Boris, @poncesmom! Yes, it does remind me of me too. :heehee:
That's how I feed Leela. She and Boris behave the same way. Flexie is a little more squirmy than that. Although she liked her gravy today. Would it be a bad idea to use some soupie gravy on top to get her to eat? Would that be a step backwards?
Yes, @machan, I'm leaving for Japan next week. I'm dropping them off at the sitter's house on Tuesday. I'm so excited! Granted it's only been 8 months since I've been over there, but it's always fun going to Japan. I usually go once a year, but if I have a good enough reason, I go twice a year. (Like my dad's 60th birthday!) Of course, I'll take lots of pictures! Are you kidding me? After all, I AM Japanese. lol
I know you are studying Japanese. Have you been to Japan before? How long have you been studying?

Welcome back from a busy day! Now you can relax. Poncesmom has gone to bed, so it will be just me for now. I'm so happy it's progressing so well! Everyone is great. I'm extremely impressed with the girls. Even if 0.6 and 0.4 oz doesn't seem like much to us, its a huge step for them! Flexie may have a favourite meal. She's going along nicely with her switch considering she was the stubborn one. (dance) I think liver may be rich in taste. But then again, I wouldn't know since I don't eat liver. Thats a very smart thing you did! Thats a technique I used when I switched one of my old kitties. It really does help to entice them to try a new meat, especially if they like the gravy. It's not a step backwards at all either. Soupie stage usually is followed by slivers in soupie, so its basically the same thing, but you just don't use much soupie thats all. ^^ Next time you can see how they go with just slivers and they should surely try them without complications. Good job! You're smart Akane! ^^ Hehe. you reminded me of what poncesmom told me just before she went to bed. She said she had four ferrets tucked into a small drawer in her kitchen. I've really taken a liking to Leela. She is such a cutie. I probably say that to every ferret... probably. hahaha. They all did well with their meals! I'm so happy for them! Have you tried leaving some turkey on a plate in their cages over night? You could count and see if they try eating some when you're not watching them. ^^ Have lots of fun in Japan! LOL! Yes, a birthday is a great reason for a second trip. Happy birthday to your dad! (dance) Japan is so lovely. I'm yet to visit Japan. One of my friends went recently and didn't take me along. I've been studying on and off with Japanese for about 4 years. I'm not that confident though. I can read hiragana and katakana, however, I still have lots of Kanji to learn.(shy)

I found Leela! She was sleeping in her usual spot... :-)
I'll try to give her some of the turkey hearts with gravy, and see how she does. Report to follow tomorrow morning!
I forgot to write it earlier, but they didn't go for rabbit breakfast at all... They may have been very hungry because they didn't eat anything this morning.
So you can read hiragana AND katakana! That's great!! My husband was learning Japanese for a while, but he just could not do well on katakana.... So he gave up. Kanji is very hard. Even natives struggle with it too. The funny thing is that people blame cell phone's automatic kanji switching features for "young people nowadays'" lack of kanji skills. Young people and technology just can't win.
I'm about exhausted. I will update again tomorrow morning. Night, machan! ;-)

Before I head to bed, I have to tell you this.
Leela ate quite a few pieces of turkey hearts!!! Well, they are very small pieces (as your saw in the pic above), but I'm very proud of her! I can rest in peace now... Zzzz
Night!

Breakfast update Both girls did GREAT today! Flexie ate 0.6 oz. of bone-meal marinated CGH with a tiny bit of soupie gravy. Flexie seems to like the uneven edges of meat, as opposed to clean cut edges. I usually cut while it's partially frozen, so I can slice thinner. But it creates clean cut edges that she doesn't like. Her personal chef is learning to make her food to her liking. And Miss Leela also ate 0.4-0.6 oz. bone-meal marinated CGH with just water. I didn't have to bribe her with soupie. :-) I'm so happy!! Aren't my girls the best? I'm closing on our first house today, so this is really a great way to celebrate it. Hopefully we can house them all in the same area in our new house, and not having to worry about the boys eating all the girls' special food.

Congratulations on your first new house. (dance) I hope you have many years of happy memories.
The girls are doing fantatic! Now I have to add Flexie's uneven edges to our list of ways that ferrets prefer their food. Leave it to the lovely Diva Flexie to notice the edges. What a smartie pants.
