Tink is now eating the Evo food and is finally gaining weight She is doing really well, the only thing is that she is still a bit depressed, but I might be getting her a friend who is also older (7-8 yrs) and has insulinoma and has been showing signs of adrenal, so they would be well matched lol

Tink's update took a turn in the wrong direction yesterday She did not eat all day, and I tried feeding her some Duck Soup while the "chicken goo soup" (lol) was defrosting and she absolutely refused that. I did manage to get some of the chicken goo soup in her, she wasnt happy about it but she took it when I syringe forced it on her, the goo is made of chicken(with a little skin) and chicken liver. Is that a good meal for her because I dont have a blender to make anything else for her... Also how much should I be making her eat and how often? I was hoping after she got a meal into her she would start eating again but did not touch her food all night. I am waiting for more chicken goo soup to defrost so I can feed her some more before I leave for work. If you have any other ideas... I think she has given up and is depressed.... And I know she is old and sick... Maybe it is just her time? Please email me because I wont have access to my computer til later and I can check my email from my phone all day KLH_Pets@yahoo.com Thank you all, you guys have already been a great help.

Please keep us posted. It does sound like shelter shock and it can occur later rather than sooner (which is why it can often be fatal). It only takes a trigger....don't beat yourself up, that trigger could have been anything, something that you wouldn't even have registered but for her it was like a card castle...it all came tumbling down. Force feeding her every couple of hours so that she doesn't get dehydrated and keep some nutrients coming in. Go buy yourself some jarred baby food, no it's not the best but you know something it works and works well in situations like this. Your vet will also have something called Carnivore Care (actually in the US you can buy it on line) Mix that with the baby food, it is awesome. In the case of emergency, the whole balanced raw diet goes out the door. You need to get food in to her immediately. Check for dehydration closely, it happens so quickly and once it happens they won't eat or drink. Intervention either by you giving sub Q or the vet is necessary. Good luck, please keep us in the loop ciao

I have been force feeding her the chicken goo soup i have made up in the freezer. it makes her naseous to eat but she sort of licks it up when i ooz it into her mouth, and then tosses her head and tries to run away so bad. i have to scruff her and hold her tight that i feel so bad and like i am hurting her but i know she needs food in her... also her poop is bad green diahrea, she tends to poop and pee when im force feeding her. i only got 1/2 a tsp into her this afternoon i will feed her again as soon as i get home from school. will a friend pull her out of the depression? idk what to do to get her out of it...

A friend might pull her out, or might not It's really a toss up where this is concerned, I'm afraid. Keep trying to get some nutrition into her, and if you want, take her into either a rescue to meet some other fuzz, or even a pet store to meet some babies. If she wants a new friend- she'll pick them out. If she does that, then she's definitely got something she'll want to live for. In the interim, can you make a sling for her, to carry her around? She needs the close body contact right now as well. Keep in close contact with your vet, so you can learn how to do sub q's if you need to, or can have the vet do them.

I'll be praying for your baby Tink. I think it's worth a shot to see if shes interested in any friends at a shelter or pet store

Have you taken this little one to the vet? Dark green poops are a possible ECE and you don't want to try and bring in another little one near this if this is the case. If it is ECE (and it could be as ECE can be brought out of dormancy by stress) you will not be able to fight this without your vet's help. You need to get to your vet ciao

well she is used to dry food so i figured the diahrea was from the change in diet to the chicken goo soup... i am getting pred this afternoon but i cant get food in her, i tried last night and she starts violently thrashing and pawing at her mouth til it bleeds and has explosive diahrea when i try to force feed her, jus the smell of food made her gag, water makes her gag all though she has tried drinking through out the night a few times...how am i suposed to get pred in her if i cant get food in her, it seems like she loses more fluids in diahrea than i get into her...i was up all night keeping her company, i had her out in the pen so i could keep an eye on her, i spent half the night in the pen with her, and she spent a few hours in my bed with me...am i better off feeding her plain chicken baby food instead of chicken goo soup?
