Sounds good about the squash the baby food is watered down so you have to experiment a bit. Just don't add too much (when you start seeing orange, you've added too much ;D). How is the switch with the cats and dogs? Are you waiting until ferrets are done?

The cat and dog are not fully on raw yet, but once in a while I give them some. I just picked up about 25 lbs of frozen meat from a guy who needed to make room in his freezer. He breeds meat rabbits and so I also got a fresh one. The fuzz were interested in it for sure!! But they couldn't figure out how to open it up an dstarted to lost interest so I cut some holes into it, which got them more interested. I ended up slicing down the center of the rabbit, which i found to smell pretty bad, so I removed the intestines and stomach and let them go at the rabbit for a bit, they didn't seem to interested. They were mostly interested in escaping the bathtub! So I put them back into the cage and brought the dog in to see if shewould take it. At first she was unsure, and then she began to lick it a whole lot. I thought, maybe now that the ferrets are in their cage they would be interested in actually eating the rabbit, so i put it in there with them. They were interested for about 5 minutes. but now they are all sleeping. I am not sure whether I should leave the rabbit in there over night, or if I should maybe give it to the dog. LOL I got the rabbit for about 8 bucks and the 25 lbs for $12.50 fudge YES FOR SWEET DEALS!!! I recorded some video and took some photos. Ill share them with you in just a minute. LEt me know what you think I will definitely be getting more rabbits from this guy in the future, and also plan on getting a new born rabbit at some point to let them hunt it.

Wow what a great deal on meal!! That is a really great buy For the rabbit, one ferret (first video link) seemed very interested in the bunny. Probably didn't know what to do with the fur ;D Rabbits stink pretty bad, even when fresh. Its best to gut them too so they don't pop You could try cutting chunks of meat out of the rabbit and feeding it like normal skinless chunks to get them used to rabbit meat. You could also make some soup with it if they're reluctant to eat chunks. The brain is really rich in taurine so maybe you can smash the bunny's head? They will likely not eat all the fur, so expect some leftover fuzz whole prey stools are the greatest ;D

Oh that's great! Hope Fox likes it Hmm... You could try cutting the head off and seeing if it's easier to break open that way. Maybe a strong mallet? ;D

Haha sounds like fun I just finished bagging up meat for the month (I always make a huge mess ;D) That's great that they're actually eating it. Since the rabbit is rather large, next time you can chop it into quarters so there is less chance for waste. I can imagine a ferret stashing a bunny head That sounds like a great idea! Fuzzy earrings ;D

So yeah, they were all taking turns eating on the head of the rabbit. I ended up removing the whole body , skinning it, and then chopping the meat up into smaller portions to feed them throughout the week. I figured less would go to waste this way. Also, Now I can tan the hide and have a nice piece of rabbit fur to make a little bag or something out of. ! yay for not wasting anything!!!

Yup Yup, Only a few more hours, then to set them under a sun light to dry out. I am pretty sure it will be cloudy here the next few days so I have a 'sun' light i will put them under in the bathroom with a fan. And girl, did those ferrets LOVE that rabbit. I threw the ears in separately and they have nibbled on those, somehow they managed to completely move their food den to the other side of their cage and flipped their litterbox around so that they could (what it seems they were trying to do) put the bunny head underneath the litterbox. Do you have any suggestions for things I could give them to hide their food in? or maybe things I could put in there for them to use as 'material to hide things' under?

I just gave them a lamb tonue and some chicken meat. I was also wondering, so....apparently some maggots apeared on the rabbit meat i gave them a few days ago, it was after i had removed the ferrets from the cage they were in. Anyways I was wondering, I knowits gross and probably not too healthy to leave the meat in the cage that long, but are maggots healthy for them to eaT? or not? I figure they are at least protein. anyways....let me know. I think maybe the eggs were laid on the rabbit meat before I froze it and then they must have hatched yesterday. The meat was only in their cage for about 6 hours. and my sisters told me there were maggots on it. what do you think? Thanks Jackie

I'm not sure if maggots are healthy, but I don't think they will come to any harm if they consumed a few (or even a slightly large amount). The stomach acids will obliterate most dangers, and the digestive tract is so short they will pass it before an infection can occur. My concern would be about parasites that the maggots may carry (don't know if that's a real concern or not). Freezing it should take care of any leftover maggots.
