Still feeding Roxie the raw soupies and she's enjoying them. I was cutting up chicken the other day for dinner and tried to give her a small chunk but she refused so I didn't push. I'm giving her 2 cubes @ 3 times a day and she eats most of it. Still full of energy! Ringo still doesn't seem interested in the raw meals. On occasion I find him walking over to the bowl and taking a few licks off of it but he never takes more than that. I'm increasing the Wysong every couple of days in his kibble soup! He seems to have an really good appetite and always eager to eat! He's still not as active as I'd like to see and sleeps alot. I think I'm going to call his vet in a few days and see if she has any ideas.

Alright sounds good. For Roxie, try making the soup a little chunkier, like cottage cheese instead of yogurt? ;D see if she minds As for Ringo, I'm so glad he has an appetite. Once you get him fully on the wysong, we can start adding small amounts of raw to his wysong soup Let me know what the vet says.

Sorry I haven't been updating regularly ... I've been exhausted! Between babysitting during the day, cleaning up after my own children, running errands, and tending to Ringo everyday I barely have enough time to do anything anymore!!! Ringo will be completely on the Wysong in a few days, and he's doing good. No seizures or signs of any!! He's still not wanting to eat raw soupies except for a few licks here and there He's having little spurts of energy and playfulness so I guess that's a plus!! He's eating his kibble soupies every 5hrs and using the bathroom alot!! Still sleeping a little more than I'd like to see and still need to talk to the vet about that! Roxie is her mess-making self!! Full of energy and crazy!! She's having her raw soupies three times a day! I usually give her 3 cubes in every soupie so she's eating about 9 cubes a day by herself! The soupies are almost completely turkey now! and I do throw in a few tiny slivers of chicken every couple of days and she eats some of them but not all!

Hey great to hear from you Great on the switch with Ringo. Will he eat the kibble hard? You might be able to have less feedings if he ate the kibble dry. So the next step I think is to start adding very small amounts of raw soup to his kibble soup, see if he notices. The raw will keep his BG more stable, so he will have longer lasting energy. Keep upping the raw amount until he refuses, then backstep. Go as slow as you feel he needs you to go. Wow, what an appetite on Roxie! That should slow down soon (hopefully ;D). There is still liver and heart in her soup right? So once shes fully on turkey, I think you can start slipping more slivers of meat into her soup. She might ignore them but hopefully she takes to them. We also want to try another protein. Pork is usually cheap and goes over well (tastes like chicken ;D). Let Ringo try some too just in case he loves pork beef is good to, but has a strong flavor Other good meats are: lamb, goat, rabbit, duck. See whatever you can find for a good price at the store ;D You're doing great! Keep it up and pop in whenever you can. I understand being busy

Yes there is still chicken liver and heart in the soupies I make!
I am able to get hold of ground pork at my grocery store but no pork organs or turkey organs! The only organs they have are chicken. Do they need different kinds of organ meats? or just different kinds meats in general?
I was thinking of making an order on Hare Today maybe grabbing some turkey hearts and pork hearts but I really didn't know if it was something I absolutely needed. Exactly how many different organ meats do they need weekly? or can I just stick w/ one kind of organ meat?
I decided to start Ringo over w/ his own batch of meat soupie ... ground chicken, chicken heart, chicken liver, chicken gizzards and made a thin soup to add to his kibble soupies I'm giving him now. I'll probably start adding a little tomorrow. Roxie is eating ground turkey, small amount of ground chicken, chicken heart, chicken liver, chicken gizzard in her soupies now! I just made her like 2 1/2 trays of that mixture today so when she finishes that off I'll add ground pork to the next mixtures!

Sounds great! Obviously the more variety in organ meats is better, but not absolutely critical. Can you get any other organ besides liver? Maybe kidney or spleen? Looks like Roxie is doing Great! I'm sure shell be eating whole chunks in no time. With Ringo, if he starts refusing to eat you'll need to back track. So go as slow as you feel is necessary. Will he eat the kibble hard?

He eats the kibble dry at times! I think I've made him a little lazy w/ softening his kibble. I don't syringe feed him anymore because he likes to eat it out of the bowl. Only time I use the syringe is when I have his wet kibble mixed w/ his meds! He seems to take the meds better that way! But I do catch him eating his dry kibble sometimes. I just can't trust he'll eat it every 5hrs So that's why I soften it and take it to him every 5hrs. The only organ meat I can get at my grocery store is chicken livers but I can look on the website Hare Today and see if they have any kidney and spleen. I know they have turkey livers! I'll look around and see what I can find.

That's good that he eats it dry It'll help keep his jaw strength up for when we try chunks. How are their stools looking? I think I might have to place an order with Hare today as well for organ meats. Very little variety in the stores here. Also, try calling some ethnic markets or asian places and see if they carry some different meats. Or maybe call a butcher and see if they have organ meats ever and ask if you can buy them if they don't sell them (some places through them away). Good luck on the organ hunt!

Sorry for the delayed reply ... I'm now suffering from strep throat so the last few days I've wanted to do nothing but sleep!!
Both ferrets stools look normal.
Put a really thin mixture of raw soupie in Ringo's bowl of kibble soupie and he ate all of it!! He acted like he didn't even notice it was in there! I'll be giving him more tonight!
Ringo seems to be doing better! No seizures!! I've caught him playing w/ Roxie & Bella lately!!

Roxie is still eating small slivers in her soupies. I just added pork to the soupies and she doesn't seem to notice the difference! She's slowed down a little on her eating ... the last week she's only really been eating like 4-5 cubes a day.
Ringo is still taking small amounts of raw soupie in his kibble soupies everyday ... I'm trying to go slow w/ him. I will start to increase the thickness of the raw in the next few weeks and see how he does.
Quick question....... I was at a small local grocery store today and noticed they had frozen beef and pork livers, pork brains, and pork chitterlings? Any of those sound useful in a raw diet? I had never noticed them before so I was really just curious!

She's slowed down a little on her eating ... the last week she's only really been eating like 4-5 cubes a day. That's pretty normal. Their appetites go into overdrive when you first switch to raw. Think about it like making up for lost time. Their bodies are getting all the nutrients and proteins that they've been missing out on. As long as she is still eating I wouldn't worry about the decrease in amount. 4-5 cubes is still a good amount of food for her Glad the pork is going well - mine love the stuff! Ringo is still taking small amounts of raw soupie in his kibble soupies everyday ... I'm trying to go slow w/ him. I will start to increase the thickness of the raw in the next few weeks and see how he does. That's great! Let me know how he does with it I was at a small local grocery store today and noticed they had frozen beef and pork livers, pork brains, and pork chitterlings? Any of those sound useful in a raw diet? I had never noticed them before so I was really just curious! The beef and pork livers are great to add variety in your liver meals. So you could rotate feeding chicken liver, then beef, then pork, etc. They only need about 2-3 oz each per week of liver, so you won't need a lot of liver meats, but that is definitely a great find! Pork brains are awesome! They are another organ source (ideally, the diet should be 5% liver, 5% other organs). They are FULL of taurine (like hearts) and are an overall great meat to add. Very very nutritious! You'll likely only need 2-4 oz of this a week, so a couple lbs should last quite a while! I had to google pork chitterlings - they are the intestines of a pig that has been prepared. I think they are already cooked (I could be wrong) and maybe seasoned If they are NOT cooked, then pig intestines is another good item to add (if they'll eat it). However, if they are already cooked they won't be necessary. Sounds like you and your kids are doing great - keep up the good work!! Gradually increase the # of chunks you give Roxie. You can also increase the size of the pieces and see if she can handle larger pieces.
