I actually offer Ringo the raw soupie about 3-4 times a day ... since the vet told me he needs multiple meals a day, I usually feed him in the morning, twice during the day(but he only takes small amounts at that time) and at night before bed. The usual routine is 4 cubes in the morning around 10am...Ringo and Roxie split that...but Roxie usually eats a little more than half! In the afternoon around 1pm , I offer Ringo 2 more cubes, he usually only eats half, so I offer it to him again around 4-5pm ... most of the time he finishes that but some days there's a small amount left over. Then at night around 10-11pm, I offer Ringo and Roxie both another 4 cubes to split and they usually eat most of that! Again Roxie being the one that eats a little more than half! Somedays when I'm emptying out the ice trays and I've only got a cube or 2 left in the tray I'll just go ahead and throw that in the dish ... sometimes they eat it but most days I usually go through about 10 cubes between them.

Okay, so here's an idea - remove all the kibble and keep up with how you're feeding now. If they start finishing all the soup, increase in until there's some left over. If you notice Ringo not eating much, give him the kibble back.
What kibble are they eating? A new kibble just came out called wysong epigen 90 for ferrets. It's priced pretty well and is the best kibble out there. Might be good to have on hand for Ringo in case you need to leave him at the vet or at a friends and they can't feed him as many times a day.

I'm feeding him Ultimate 8 and 1 at the moment but I will definetly look into the wysong epigen 90. I usually have to order his food from a pet supply store anyway because our small town doesn't offer big pet stores. I'll continue feeding him how I am now and keep you updated!

Quick question? Does being on raw diet make ferrets coats change? I've noticed lately that Ringo looks extra fluffy! Especially around his head and tail! He almost looks like a fluffy little bear

Yes! Raw provides the nutrients necessary for a soft and silky coat. Soon they'll start to small different too!

Great! I really didn't know if it was the raw diet or the meds Ringo was on...just that he looked alot fluffier than I'm use too! I thickened their soupie a little more a few days ago ... they didn't eat as much for the first couple days, but yesterday they both ate really good yesterday! Ringo actually ate more than Roxie I have been putting Roxie's kibble up completely so she has more of an appetitate when I feed her soupies! I take Ringo's kibble away during the day and offer him soupie instead...somedays he eats more than others! At night of course I do leave him a little kibble out in case he needs a snack but he still seems to have a good appetite in the morning! He's taking his meds alot better now! I learned that if I blow in his face he swallows it faster!! He seems to get mad at me for about 10mins after but he gets over it ;D Some days he's really playful and others he sleeps alot ... yesterday him and Roxie actually wrestled around in my bedroom! That was great to see!

Sounds like your kids are doing great! Start putting small skinny slivers into the soup and see if anyone eats them.

Had to cut back on the turkey yesterday cause Ringo wouldn't touch it all day! So I made another mixture w/ less turkey and today he's eating it fine. I'm going to keep adding smaller amounts of turkey until he's use to the taste completely. Roxie is doing great ... she eats wonderfully and doesn't seem to mind the turkey at all! I haven't given her kibble for days and she doesn't even seem to notice! She's taking in a little more soupie everyday! Ringo is a constant struggle ... it's like he's having up and down days. One day he'll eat great and then the next day not so much. I have been putting his kibble up during the day ... at night I give it back whenever I go to bed but just a small amount to get him through the night if he needs it. Some mornings the same amount is in the bowl...some mornings it's not! He had a seizure the other night ... it scared me! I've seen him twitch before or just lie on the floor for a few minutes but this was drooling from the mouth and him pawing at his face kind of seizure. I quickly gave him a small amount of karo syrup and a few minutes later he seemed to be fine. It broke my heart I thought the meds were helping but now I'm feeling kinda helpless. I'm going to give him a few more weeks on the meds and if I don't see more improvements then I'm taking him back to the vet to see what we can come up with.

Glad to hear Roxie is enjoying the turkey I'm so sorry about Ringo. It might be a good idea to up the dose of pred if he had a seizure. Either that, or maybe add another feeding to his schedule. I hope he can stabilize on just some more feedings, but sometimes it requires a dose increase. Anyway, keep up with the good work! Try giving Roxie a smashed chicken wing (I use a hammer) - I think she might like it

Ringo has completely refused to eat his raw meals the last two days!! I can however get him to take a small about off my finger but not enough to fill him up! He refuses to eat the raw from the bowl or syringe. He will eat small amounts of kibble though I want him to eat something so I've been allowing him to eat the kibble. He was doing so well on the raw so I really don't know why he just refuses anymore. I thought maybe it was too much turkey in the soup but his last mixture I added way more chicken then turkey but he still refuses to touch it. He acts as if he's feeling rough.....so that might me the reason also. I ordered him some of the Wysong today so that I could get rid of his Ultimate 8-1 all together. Tonight he had another seizure which resulted in two more while trying to get him balanced out. I'm expecting the vet to call in the morning and talk about increasing his dosage or give me my other options. Roxie however has been eating whatever I put in front of her!! I have taken her kibble away completely and rely mainly on the raw soupie to feed her during the day. She doesn't seem to mind. I haven't had a chance to give her any slivers yet ... I've been so wrapped up in trying to get Ringo to eat it's hard trying to juggle everything. But I will try the slivers soon!!

If Ringo is still having seizures, he is probably feeling really nauseous. The meds are no longer controlling his BG enough ;( Let him eat what he will. Does he like plain chicken baby food? Maybe kibble soup? Anything to keep some food in his belly. If you need to, you might need to syringe feed him (so his BG doesn't fall too low again). I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with him. It'll be okay - once his meds get adjusted we can get him back on track. As for Roxie, that's great hopefully once Ringos issues get sorted out, we can start progressing Roxie Keep it up - it's gunna be okay. Keep me posted

Ringo seems to be feeling better today. The vet decided to try giving him the pred 3 times a day @ .5mg doses. If that doesn't keep him balanced out then I have to call back in and they'll increase it a little more. He's eating his kibble very good today. Still won't touch the raw meals but at this point I'm just happy he's eating something and as long as he's eating the kibble I'm going to allow him too. I have ordered the Wysong and it should be here in the next few days so I'll replace his current kibble w/ that soon. He seems happy today and even played w/ me while I was sweeping this morning after his first dose of pred. Roxie is still her little hyper self. She got her raw meal this morning w/ a few chicken slivers in it ..... and she ate them!! She didn't act like she prefered to be chewing but she did eat a few!! I was so proud of her!!

Congrats on Roxie! She needs some time to build up jaw strength, but that's great!!!! As for Ringo, I think adding the third dose is a great idea and I hope it works out I'm glad he is eating his kibbles good
