I woke Ringo up to eat this morning! I held him at the kitchen table and started feeding him from the spoon ... then lowered it slowly into the bowl ... and he actually ate out of the bowl!! I kept holding him because he acted as if he'd stop if I let go of him! But he ate out of the bowl for like 5 mins!! He seems to have a small appetite lately but I'm hoping his meds will help turn that around too! He ate for about 10 mins totally then decided he didn't want anymore so I let him go. I gave him his first dose about 15 mins ago ... the bottle says to give it to him twice daily ... is that normal dosage?

Yay! I find mornings are the best because they're the hungriest what a good boy!!! Let's keep everything constant for a while. Keep holding him - it makes him feel secure and safe once he is eating the soup more on his own, we can start making it a bit thicker. How thick is it? Congrats!!! This is huge progress!!!!

This morning I gave Ringo his carafate ... waited 20 mins then gave him soupie ... he ate really good and out of the dish all by himself! His appetite seems to be improving! He ate about 2 cubes by himself Then I waited another 20 mins and gave him his pred meds! Today he seems to have a little more energy then he did over the weekend! Seems to be walking around the house alot more and eating better! I gave Roxie 2 cubes of soupie this morning as well and she licked the dish clean!! She did the same thing last night!! They both seem to be liking it more and more!!

As for the thickness of the soup ... I'd say it's probably the thickness of cream of chicken soup! maybe a tiny bit more watered down? I posted pics so maybe you can kinda tell!

Oh yayyyy!!!!! Your kids are doing wonderful So they are going to start eating a LOT keep giving them food until they don't eat anymore. They are making up for lost time Usual rule of thumb is "if the bowl is licked clean, they are still hungry" I'm so glad to hear Ringo is doing better - does he take the meds well? Okay so next time you make soup, make it thicker. Less water. Do you have any ground turkey? You can start adding other proteins into the soup to get them used to different flavors. Pork is a good protein too, similar to chicken. Congrats and you're doing amazing!

This morning I put 4 cubes in their dish and they consumed almost all of it!
Roxie is a little piglet for sure! I've got pics of her licking her dish clean!! She even turned it over on it's side to lick the very tip top! Ringo is eating more everyday! He still hasn't caught up to Roxie as far as eating as much but I'm hoping once the meds start kicking in he'll start catch up to her!
Ringo really hates the taste of the meds! They did prescribe him carafate and he absolutely despises it!! The pred I usually add to a spoonful of soupie(Sherry's suggestion) and it doesn't bother him at all! He seems to get a little more energy everyday! Not a dramatic change yet but I am seeing him feel a little better!
As for ground turkey ... I am going to the grocery store today and will pick some up! Will I just add that to the soup I usually make?

Great Yes just add a small amount of the turkey to what you normally do. If you see either refusing to eat, you might need to scruff and let them lick it off your finger or spoon like you did before. Hopefully they won't even notice it and just continue eating like normal The pred will take some time to fully take effect. Glad he is already improving!

Added ground turkey to soup yesterday and left it a bit thicker ... they didn't seem to mind at all! They didn't seem to eat as much of it though? Roxie, of course, ate the most! She's quite the little piglet!! I went through about 8 cubes of soup yesterday! Is that good? or too much?

Thats great! Keep upping the percentage of turkey until you have pure turkey soup If your ice cube trays are like mine, then 8 cubes = 4 oz. (1 cube = 0.5 oz) which isn't too much at all. In re beginning just let them eat whatever and however much they want. The will eat a ton, but it will slow down eventually ;D You're doing great - keep it up! Since they are doing so well, try slipping a couple skinny chicken pieces into the soup.

Still increasing the turkey a little every few days! Ringo doesn't seem to mind but doesn't eat as much ... Roxie is just a little porker! As of the moment their both going through about 10-12 cubes a day.. it really just depends on their moods!
I'm wondering since Roxie is eating the soupie so good if maybe I should go ahead and take her kibble away and let her totally depend on the soup everyday? I know I can't take Ringo's away but Roxie is eating less and less of her kibble anyway!

As long as she's eating healthy amounts of raw, go for it! 10-12 cubes = about 5-6 oz so that's great I'd also start slipping some skinny pieces of meat in to Roxie's soup - she might take to them quickly since she loves raw so much. How much raw soup do you think Ringo eats a day? It might help "encourage" him to like raw more if his kibble was taken away for a day or two. If that helped increase his appetite, then you could ditch the kibble entirely. Keep it up - you're doing great!!
