I'm glad to hear that Because the thin stool you mentioned, in spite of not having had an appetite, also meant a partial blockage. Keep giving him the pumpkin for 2 or 3 days, in case it's just moved. They can do that- move away, then block them up again. Oh- and I think I'd keep all the flipflops put up

I'm glad that your wee Rob is starting to feel better. I agree with Sherry...make sure he cannot get hold of any more flipflops and I would like to add too, your wee one needs to follow up with some more pumpkin until his stools are consistent. You also have a weight issue, that will need to be addressed. Often when foreign objects get lodged, even if they're moved there is internal abrasions and stress from the episode. Watch to make sure your little one doesn't get an ulcer. Your wee one should be under close observation for at least another week to two weeks to make sure than he's pooping properly and eating his food consistently. I would also watch for signs of tarry stools, grinding teeth, head rubbing or pawing at the mouth. ciao

ANOTHER UPDATE-------------- Well of course i put all of the flip flops up! i am still giving him soupies and pumpkin every so often. I am going to keep on watching him for sure, ECE is going around again! and TWICE as bad as last winter! I was at the shelter earlier and more then HALF the cages had ECE!!! we had to give fluids to ALL of the older ferrets. two of them are so sick they might not make it through the night:( So i am watching WAY close so he does not end up like them! I am watching all of his poops. they are not orange anymore in his litter box until i give him soupies( which have pumpkin in it ) then he poops orange again:) It is more of a light brownishyellow to food colored poop and is not liquid but still not solid. thanks!

oh and it was heart shaped LOL!!!! He was just telling you how much he love his mommy for watching ut for him so closely! I am glad he is doing better. Keep an eye on him and if his appetite and activity level don't perk up I'd be seeing a vet still. Perk up little fuzz man!

He is doing great this morning. He even woke ME up! I still havn't seen him eat yet but he is pooping so he might be eating. it was still not very big and orange so i am guessing his poop was the soup i gave him last night. BUUUT... i sat up this morning(his cage is by my bed ) and he was in his hammie, i sat up and the first thing he did is that very quick.." jump out of the hammock and move his head from side to side" thing asking to come out:) i let him out and boy, did he RUN!! all ofthat not running around must have made him hyper! i am glad he is feeling better. about to give soup again! he still needs to gain that weight back!

Poor lil buddy, I hope he feels better and hope he gains the weight back! Did you ever find any hairballs or foreign objects in his poops? It would be nice if you did, to know he passed whatever it was. Maybe you could add fatty foods like uncured bacon to his diet to help him bulk up Mine love uncured bacon and any fatty pork cuts. But I almost hate to mention bacon because you have to be so careful it is UNCURED bacon... NOT normal smoked or cured bacon! That stuff is full of salt and other stuff that is not good for them.

I, as i said on the other post , have not started the switching process. i have tried to feed my ferrets bacon but they REFUSE to eat it. especially rob who is a VERY picky eater! i still have not found anything in his poops but at least he IS pooping you know? i am going to give him more pumpkin and a soupie in about an hour when i am done deep cleaning my other ferrets' cage. thanks!

Don't feed bacon, or any smoked meats....Ferrets cannot process them properly. These are salted meats and shouldn't be eaten by humans much less carnivores. There are chemicals that go into the whole process that your wee ones don't need. Sorry. Your wee ones were being smart when they refused the bacon, they're not usually that good with their decisions ciao

I just gave him another 14cc syringe of soupies, that is ALL he would take no matter how much scruffing and trying to force feed. i also gave him the same amount of water and a teaspoon of pumpkin. he was a LITTLE bit more active but not by much, and he only was because i was putting away groceries and he wanted the bags. wish me luck! my mom said if he is not good by tomorrow she will drive me to the vet so he can get checked out. or no, let me restate what she said " unless he is dieing we can't take him to the vet" grrr! i am just afraid he will get my other ferrets sick...

If you're concerned, keep him separate from the rest. He should be anyway so that you can monitor his output as well as his input. I always keep a hospice cage so that I can put my sickies away where I can monitor them. I think that you should take your wee Rob in tomorrow and have him checked out. I think he needs to be seen by a vet. Make sure you take notes before you go in....what you've been doing for him, feeding him, his symptoms...put all your ducks in a row (so to speak ). Vets are usually impressed with order and precision. Good luck ciao

He is already away from the other ferrets. i never got them integrated. even when we got him. he is deaf so he is much more antisocial then normal ferrets and is TERRIFIED of the other ferrets. and for notes, I have got this post! so i can see all of the things that i have said that i wouldn't otherwise remember! i really do hope he gets well!!!!!

NO but i can take notes from it! thats what i ment:) I can get whatever i can't remember and take notes NOW then when i DO take him to the vet then i know what i am talking about. I have a question
For the symptoms, i know it could be a million things, but what would you guys diagnose?
