-Not diet related question- So my ferrets were sleeping and out of no where Usagi made this shirking sound I rushed over to see what was wrong and she was just laying there like she does when she just wakes up. I want to say she felt a little stiff for a second but maybe I was just looking for something wrong, after that she was completely normal, eyes wide, walking about. Has that ever happened to you before? Did she have a bad dream or maybe a weird twist? Very strange moment.

They are being such good little girls! The waking up might be a terrible dream or maybe and itch. Mine have done that before. Unless you see something else I think they are fine.

Out of 10 (Spaghetti) slivers last night they ate 3 in their soup. Going to continue with 10 again this afternoon.

Consider 1/2 and ounce less soup to see if that helps.

They didn't eat much this afternoon, and none of the slivers. For tonight I made 3.5oz with 8 slivers again instead of 10 because they are a lot longer than the last ones. 1. Ferret's name: Akira 2. Ferret's weight: 3. Ferret's Daily Medications: None 4. Ferret has eaten Kibble available at night, 5.6oz combined raw soup (about 2.8oz per ferret) 5. Stools are slightly wet 6. Activity levels: Normal play day 7. Weekly menu: Monday: raw soup Tuesday: raw soup Wednesday: raw soup Thursday: raw soup Friday: raw soup 1. Ferret's name: Usagi 2. Ferret's weight: 3. Ferret's Daily Medications: None 4. Ferret has eaten Kibble available at night, 5.6oz combined raw soup (about 2.8oz per ferret) 5. Stools are slightly wet 6. Activity levels: Normal play day 7. You're doing good. It takes work in the beginning but is so worth it in the end! This bounce might also be because of our wicked heat. Mine are not eating nearly what they were in the winter. While our house is cool I think they know just how hot it is outside. And remember less than twenty days ago they were still on kibble!

We also had a change in schedule yesterday so I think that kinda messed up their whole napping system.
So last night they ate 2.7oz and 3 out of the 8 slivers. Think i'll try the same thing for this afternoon.

Hey it happens. I was away for almost two weeks during the last three. My 19 year old was on ferret feeding duty. They were fed but didn't each as much as with me because the feeding time was different. They know who feeds them best. Yours will adjust. There are people on here with varying work schedules and the ferrets learn. We had an adjustment with summer as my teenagers sleep the morning away instead of the 6 am wake time. You have normal play, good stools, and eating ferrets. All is good.

With the slivers I am sure they are getting about four ounces which is good. The wet, dark stool is normal. Remember they are getting way more water with the soup. This is good. With kibble they are constantly fighting with dehydration.

I weigh the food with the slivers included. Last night they ate their soup pretty quick, it wasn't all gone but they ate at least half so I gave them 4oz total instead of 3.5oz, They ate 7 out of 8 slivers. The one they didn't eat I found outside of the bowls, not really stashed but more like moved out the way lol, akira reaaaallllllyyyy loves dried raw, I wonder if she's trying to make her own. I'm trying to find some "jerky" for pets that doesn't have salt and stuff in it. To see if she likes them. She seems to enjoy these rabbit treats I've been giving her but seems to take her a moment to actually eat it. Usagi seems to only be into salmon oil.

Have you tried raw egg yet? My two find this a very special treat.
I have found that if I move the 'morning meal leftovers' to one container and a way from the evening meal, it is often eaten. hey sometimes like it that way. They won't eat turned meat so don't worry there. My two have a bit of meat jerky that forms in their feeding dens when they take it out of the bowl. They eat if every once in a while.
What other meats do you have available?

Eggs are a close 2nd love for Akira. I bet she'd eat a whole chicken egg in one setting if I let her, Usagi is still kinda thinks it's poison. I'm going to pick up some quail eggs next time I need to restock on organs. I'm mostly trying to find something I can give quick and easy for extra litter training incentive, they go great in the cage at night but not so much when free roaming they used to just go in the corners which was okay but now sometimes they just poop in the middle of the hall and in the kitchen where the fridge and the cabinets kinda make an edge, I think it's just the way my apartment is shaped everything basically feels like a corner/safe poo area, i'll be fine if they don't get the hang of it but i'm curious to try and then maybe some "find the treat games". I tried plain boiled chicken but that was before they were on raw so maybe i'll try that again.
In my freezer right now I have chicken (thigh, necks, gizzards, liver, hearts) My local Asian market also has a good selection of duck (tongue, gizzard, neck) and pork (kidney, spleen, tongue, intestine, heart, liver). And then there's a local raw pet food shop that I haven't been to yet that sells chicken (backs, necks, hearts, livers), beef (neck, heart, liver, kidney), duck (liver, gizzards), pork (heart, liver, kidney), Rabbit (grinds: Whole Ground Rabbit (with bone), Rabbit Liver, Rabbit Heart). I also have no issues ordering from hare today or my pet carnivore if needed.

You can make your own jerky with a food dehydrator. Once they get to eating bigger chunks they’ll try stashing bits to make their own “ferret jerky” too... hahah ;P It sounds like you have some great access to variety, that makes life so much easier. Woot!!
