10 mg is a giant amount and no ferret could live on that large of a dose. What are the numbers on the syringe? The largest dose any ferret can take is 2.5 mg twice daily, but that's according to weight and on that dose the side effects would be disasterous after a while.

His sister has been on 5mg for 6 months she is tiny and has no side effects and is doing amazing so we're gonna lower her dose she was just at the vet 2 days ago so the strength between liquid and pills must be different

Never heard of that dosage or Canadian dosing being much different, I do know 10mg just simply can't be right, not trying to say you're wrong or your Vet is trying to harm your ferrets at all I'm just trying to get this straight is all Heather you're in Canada, any insight? I figured it was just a mistake of reading the medicine label. Unfortunately with Insulinoma once you start Pred your ferret can never go off of it, it's a permanent solution, Insulinoma is cancer and cancer doesn't go away or get better on it's own, if you try taking a ferret with Insulinoma off of Prednisolone the results can be disasterous if not fatal, they adapt to the way Pred stables their BG and when you remove that their bodies cannot handle it. So little Bullwinkle will be taking Pred forever, but many ferrets can live several years with it. I'm glad he's feeling better, make sure he's eating often and before his pred, how are they doing with the soup? How many ounces per day are they eating?

10 mg appears to be high....really high but it depends on the dilution of the pred. I've no idea as to the dilution so can't say if that's too high or not. Fun-Go was not allowed more than 2 mg. 1mg BID....but I was using pediapred....pediapred solution is 5ml/6.7mg So basically for every tsp of pediapred there is 6.7 mg of prednisolone. There are a couple of people on board who can help you with the math but Hurricanekatt would be your best bet. ciao

Oh i know they can never come off it but I'm really curious now about the dose cause the girl is only 678 grams and she is doing really good just had a check up and she is on 5 mg a day prednisone after tests and stuff he said no side affects ....but to be safe I only raised my boys to 7.5 until I figure this out but as for the soup today has been the best yet went from quater oz cube to eating 4 of them between two ferrets they are still eating normal food as well until I fully switch them , I really didn't expect them to enjoy it so much

How are they feeling today? Offer them as much soup as they will possibly eat, right now they're making up for lost nutrients and may eat A LOT for a few weeks then slow down, can you weigh their soup to see how many ounces they are eating?

If you're feeding them from the same bowl then before taking the kibble away you need to feed them all separately so you know for sure they're all eating good amounts, at least 2 oz for the boys and at least 1-2 oz for the girls. Feeding them separately insures they are all eating normal amounts, and if one falls ill then if they stop eating a lot you'll know. It's very important to know how much they're eating, and once on frankenprey they'll have to eat separately anyways as you need to be sure they're all eating the correct ratio of their heart and organs. Feed them as much as they'll possibly eat, that's important also, if they clean the plate then give them more until they each start leaving a bite or two. If Bullwinkle has been having loose poos that could be ulcers from the Pred. You're feeding him 30 min before giving him Pred right? That's vital to do as feeding before giving him Pred will help coat his stomach and prevent ulcers. If his loose stools continue you'll need to have your Vet write a prescription for Sucralfate, this is a stomach coater like Pepto for ferrets and will prevent/heal ulcers.
