i forgot to ask.. did you find any other meat for frankenprey? rabbit, duck, CGH.. Brooklyn is reacting on chicken, but you can try with CGH, some ferrets with allergies accept it very well
you haven't post their weekly menu for a long time. is everything the same as usual? do you add extra hearts? and what about their poops?

i need your update, haven't heard from you for a week and you haven't posted their weekly menu for a while... There is an example in the initial mentoring program post: "Please copy/paste this very short questionnaire into your switching thread every Sunday/Monday or any other day you choose. 1. Ferret's name: 2. Ferret's weight: 3. Ferret has eaten "X" amount on average per meal. 4. Stools on various proteins. 5. Activity levels: 6. Weekly menu: Example would be: Vincent, 3lbs 2oz(1417g), small chicken wing chopped into 2" pieces, bone and all. Stools good colour and consistency. Played as per normal. Willow, 1lb 4oz(567g), 2 tbsp commercial raw turkey, hand fed. Stools good colour and consistency. Very hyper when up, playing for 2-3 hours at a time. Mr. Frodo, 4lb 4oz(1928g), 1/4c pork slivers mixed with soup. Stools slightly loose, somewhat seedy, and pale in colour. Somewhat more tired, plays for 30 minutes, then finds somewhere to sleep. Flat ferreting more often. Weekly menu was: Monday: chicken legs Tuesday: Commercial raw Wednesday: Soup with pork slivers Etc. Just write what you actually fed them. Also, to help us make sure your ferret is doing well during his switch, a picture from above showing his body shape clearly would be appreciated bi-weekly, but is not essential. we are a bit lost here, they are eating mostly grinds and we have to balance their meals so they can be healthy

Oh darn, I totally thought I replied!!! I just put up the updated list.
Re: Any improvements with the bone recently?
Overall yes. I find they are more willing to eat even the ground down bits of bone more to get to their food, and with the quail bone pieces, they are doing it themselves and either running off with it to eat (Pieces of bone with meat approx the size of 2 quarters usually) or will sit at the plate and eat it. They are still eating leg pieces of quail but you definitely have to hold it for them. One thing I have noticed is that Brooklyn today must have eaten bone too fast as she started pawing at her mouth a bit to get it out. I scruffed and looked for the bone piece as she was trying to hack it up slightly but ended up giving her an egg to pass it through which made it stop. Her pawing and hacking was definitely a food obstruction issue vs. pain it seemed, but definitely something to keep an eye out for.
I actually have the CGH thawing in the fridge now that you mentioned it and reminded me! Is CGH good to go just by crushing it up with a mallet and then break pieces off for them?
Their poop levels are actually much better than usual without the chicken, mainly Brooklyn's. I usually add a pinch of ground up quail egg shell every day and that seems to be enough most days. On days with less boney grinds, such as pheasant, I usually add a pinch again there too.
So Harry is definitely in his winter bulk stage the last two weeks. I have to try and weigh him when he is sleeping to get a good read, but he seems to at least be 4 pounds vs. his prior 2.25 lbs on 10/9/15. Brooklyn is slightly skinnier. Not sure if her seasons are slightly off or what, but she is still active. Harry has been coming back for food and wanting more, and Brooklyn waits infront of the door or by the food and gets sad if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes lol.

Also just watched that bone video. That definitely makes things alot easier!
Need to try Gizzards again too!
Mice / quail chunks no progress but maybe crushing up a mouse like that video could help ontop of trying to hide it in the quail or turkey?

Her pawing and hacking was definitely a food obstruction issue vs. pain it seemed, but definitely something to keep an eye out for. unfortunately the bone can stuck between the teeth sometimes, especially if they chew crushed pieces of bone. they will learn how to chew it, but better be safe then sorry, always check the mouth after they ate I actually have the CGH thawing in the fridge now that you mentioned it and reminded me! Is CGH good to go just by crushing it up with a mallet and then break pieces off for them? you can try that with bigger bones, but you can try to offer them ribbs, necks, or backs in small pieces. wings are very popular when learning how to eat bones. you can cut middle wing part between two bones and offer, and wing drumstick chop with meat cleaver to expose the bone marrow.

Brooklyn doesn't look skinny at all. they are both sooooo beautiful and handsome, if you were closer, i would be tempted to steal them from you!!
thanks for the pics <3

1st attempt at CGH :
They both actually ate at it with some scruff assistance.
They did not eat the bone at all so maybe I need to chop that up better within the skin.
No reactions so far.

(dance) great!!! chop up the bone or smash it with the mallet. you have to think of their teeth, at least 4 bone in meals a week and you don't have to worry about the cleaning teeth expences

Doing a bit better than last time on the CGH. They both also ate more pieces of quail chunks by themselves.
We got them a little 2-bowl setup and they have both learned their own side to eat from pretty quickly it seems.
Harry has finally reached the point where he isn't shivering when taken outside in 40 degree weather lol.

So far stool appears normal. Brooklyn had one off poop but not nearly as bad as just normal chicken. I prepared 1 by using that video you sent me on the prior page, and then chopped that into sections for them. I also did a few meals with pounding it with a mallet after doing it as well. Seems to work ok. Weighing them has been unsuccessful due to them not staying still. I got them to stay still on a human scale but I guess they were too light to register any weight

you can put few drops of salmon oil on their belly and weight them, they should be staying still do you see changes on their teeth already? that bones should clean them in no time ok, i want you to find some organs so we can finally follow frankenprey menu :boing: organ must be 10% of their total diet (or 1.5 meals on a 2-meal per day schedule). This is preferably half (5%) liver and half (5%) other organs, but if you don't have access to other organs you can give 10% liver, BUT you have to include other organs however and whenever you can. and now, another little quizz 1. name the non-liver organs sources 2. is it good to offer meals in a variety of forms, textures, and temperatures? 3. what is the importance of bones in their menu? 4. is it good idea to mix muscle meat, bone in and organs all in one meal? 5. how many eggs should be given per ferret per week? it's all for now
