Good Morning Yeah for Loki! (dance) You know he is full, when he leaves a little behind. If he eats it all, try sneaking in another spoonful or so. Thanks for the reassurance, but you and Loki are certainly making this switch easy and fun. Let me ask the Senior Mentors about the chicken foot. Is he eating any of it, or just dragging it around? I thought that we had bought some chicken feet and it turns out, we still haven't. I'll be picking some up soon. Chicken feet seem like a much better treasure than the garbage bags that Wynstan insists on stealing.

Good afternoon!
Alright the next time he leaves anything behind. For breakfast I mixed a little thick soupie with about 2 ozs of beef heart slivers. I'll report when I get home on how how he does.
Thanks for asking. Loki doesn't eat them. He mostly chews on them and drags them around. I can't wait to hear about your own adventures with them!
Wynstan likes to steal garbage bags? Loki hasn't found a bag that wasn't worth stealing or at least chewing on.

I posted about the chicken feet, I'll hear back sometime soon.
Yeah, Wynstan is all about garbage bags. Lawn and leaf, and kitchen trash bags. I try not to let him have them. Heather warned me that they have a chemical in them, but he finds them and tries to drag them upstairs. Its really rather cute. They unroll as he drags them and then there is a long line of bags from the kitchen to the top of the stairs.

Omg that is so cute. I keep my rat blocks in gallon ziplock bags and Loki is forever dragging them off when I'm trying to feed his small fur-siblings. It is very cute.

I always wonder how they choose what will be their favorite treasure.
Juliet is all about kitchen utensils; spatulas, ladles, potato peelers, anything and everything kitchen including the kitchen sink (wait for it)...stopper.
Mika loves those little white plastic bathroom cups. She tries to carry them off, with water in them. Then she punctures the cup and they dribble all over the floor and she's unhappy when she stashes it and its empty.
Ponce was all about those soda/beer can coozies. I keep one in the shower and it holds my shaving cream. At first, I thought he wanted the shaving cream. He would struggle to get it off the shelf and then run off with it. Then I realized it was the coozie.
Roamy is the only one that doesn't really have a treasured item. Maybe once the chicken feet come home. (giggle)

I heard back from Bitbyter about the chicken feet. He says "No more than one per week, otherwise you risk throwing off the ratio of bone to meat". Loki will not be happy about this, but better safe than sorry.

Jason (Bitbyter) just posted this:
You could probably get away with twice a week but I'd keep an eye out for poop issues. Alternatively she could replace a bone in meal with chicken feet and a bit of added muscle meat.

Those stories are hilarious! I love that they all have their own unique personal. <3 I have kept a glass of water by my bed for decades. I have to remember, every morning now, to move it before the fuzzbutt gets out. Because it will (and has) ended up all over my bed. Loki doesn't necessarily /want/ the water. He does want to stick his head into the cup, because he does it with all cups. What kills me is one of the first things he claimed, and stashed, was a large insulated lunch boxes. I swear, more than once, he has hidden his chicken treasures in it. I took a picture for that thread you suggested I start. I know its coincidence, but its still hilarious. He stole my mom's toothbrush while she was over and failed numerous attempts to stash her wallet. Should I replace the bone in meal when he actually starts eating them? Because right now he just chews on the feet. Speaking of which, I don't think Loki ate any of the beef mixture this morning. However, he did eat a nice section of his jerkified chicken wing!

We'll work that into the menu. I have seen ferrents use chicken feet in their menus. Meanwhile, that will give me time to check into exactly how to do that and make sure the balance is correct.
I don't think Loki ate any of the beef mixture this morning
Beef just doesn't seem to be anyones favorite food. Mine will really only eat it, if its ground beef with an egg. It could be that since he had his jerkified chicken, he preferred that.
I know its coincidence, but its still hilarious.
Don't be too sure. Loki probably knew exactly what he was doing. They are such funny little ones and too darn smart. Wynstan has started leaving pieces of his food in Paul's shoes. He's a Daddy's boy and I think he's been giving Paul presents. He still stashes in his usual spots, he just leaves a few extra in the shoes. Paul's not really enjoying his presents.
Your water glass on the bedside table is a ferret magnet. Does Loki like to play in water? Have you let him see the sink run or put him in the tub and let the water trickle. Mine are big water babies and will even hop in the shower with me.
A good ferret game is to fill a tub or plastic bin with water and drop little pieces of meat (gizzards work great) into the water and let Loki go "fishing".
Well, I'm off to bed to read. Good night and talk to you tomorrow. Hugs to Loki. :wave2:

Good evening!
Today was super busy at work. But I came home to an empty bowl so yaaay. Although it was plain turkey and he has never turned that down. But it was the first time without added water! I did add a little powdered eggshell and a shot of salmon oil because he has seemed really itchy lately.
I have no idea if Loki likes or hates water. Generally he hates water he is invited to play in and loves the water he is supposed to stay out of it. Bathtubs/sinks of water are Satan's death traps. Muddy streams or rain puddles are paradise. He acts like he wants to get into my showers, but mostly he wants to climb the shower curtain. He did sort of like having a little tub of water but mostly to jump in and out of. Not to really "play in". I'll try again with your suggestion of gizzard addition.
Hope you had a great day. Starting tomorrow we are going away for the weekend. But I'll still be posting. I'm going to weigh him early just because I don't want to bring his special scale. I made up the rest of his menu last night so we will be ready to go. I can't wait to spend the next three days (starting Friday) outside with my fuzzbutt.
Have a great night, ttyt.

Mini dinner time update...
So for dinner I did chicken bone-in. But this time I chopped it up more and removed the meat from the actual leg. I cut up of the leg meat into small chunks and added it to the crushed thigh section. I also swirled in about 2 oz of chicken soupie just in case. I sat and watched him devour pretty much all of the leg meat, by passing the soupie areas! He left the boney portion but we're just getting ready to go to bed so I'll report tomorrow what he does with that. (dance)

Yeah for Loki (dance) Why don't you try leaving a chicken wing in the cage with him for a few nights and see what he does with that? Its been a super long day, with a brand new baby girl. I'll check in again in the morning. Give Loke a big hug and tell him that I'm proud of him.

Actually, I left what he didn't eat of the chicken thigh in his cage and he finished it! He also ate the vast majority of his organ meat breakfast with some added hamburger soupie.
I didn't get a chance to weigh him but my friend said they have a scale that I can use. He got another thigh with some straight chicken meat for dinner. I'll let you know how he does.
I can't wait to hear about your new lady! I'm so happy for you and your family. Lots of love to your family as well. Thanks again. <3
