This morning was beef chunks and tonight was mice. It's possible he doesn't like mice, but if he doesn't like them why eat the heads? Once I get my other whole prey in I'll be able to see if he'll take to anything else. Perhaps down the road as he gets more whole prey meals in his weekly menu he'll be more open to eating more of the rats/mice, it may also be wishful thinking. Only time will tell.

Order placed with Hare-today. I ordered quail, cavies, and rabbit for them and they should be arriving early next week.
Tonight they will be getting a large rat, I meant to pick up a 3 pack of small rats and didn't realize it was a large rat in the wrong spot. I'm sure it will get consumed regardless, I would've preferred the small rats.

I'm moving my daughter to college this weekend, so I most likely won't be around until Sunday night at the earliest. Just keep doing what you're doing and working with Loki to eat those mice and rats. You're doing great so I don't anticipate that you'll have any problems, but I've asked some of the other mentors to check in here over the weekend in case you need anything. I'll try to check in a couple of times, but the weekend is liable to be pretty hectic.
Tell Loki I said to eat some rat!

That time of year eh? Hope it's an easy move for you guys and take care of what you need to, I realize it can be pretty crazy. I'll try to see if Loki will be a good boy with the rat, I'll check it in the morning.
More whole-prey hijinks to come soon.

LOKI'S EATING A RAT!
And I don't mean the head, I caught him eating the yummy body. There is some hope for my little trouble maker, he sure is a stubborn boy. My hare-today order can't come soon enough, I'm really excited to try some new whole prey proteins.

Welcome back, I trust it wasn't too stressful. The email I received said it would ship Monday, so I'm optimistic for Tuesday (1-day ground) If not, should definitely have it Wednesday.

Here is a photo update of their bodies.
Loki
Thor
Clyde
Their poops are still normal and appropriately reflect what they ate.
Activity levels remain good, nothing seems out of the ordinary.
Their weights are Clyde: 2 lbs 10 oz. Loki: 2 lbs 7 oz Thor: 2 lbs
My order shipped and Fedex is showing delivery tomorrow.

No, he didn't. It was a large rat weighing in at 6 ounces so they had to share. He also ate more than just the head of his mouse this morning without too much fuss.
Clyde seems to be a pro, he appears to be handling whole prey nicely.
Loki decided to be a pooper and is constantly using the feeding den as his personal toilet. Not sure how I'm going to handle it, cleaning his waste out of it got old fast.

LOL @ Loki the Pooper! He's quite a character! I think I remember you saying you made a remote feeding den as well as a remote litter box. ?? Are the entrance tubes near each other? Is it possible that he's going in the wrong one by mistake and then not being able to hold it long enough to get to the other one? Or is he just being a pooper, lol?

No, he's just being a pooper, he knows full well where the litter box is, he's used it up until I made the feeding den. It's a 90° left turn straight into the litter pan and a 90° right turn, a bend, some lengths of pipe then the feeding den. It's not hard, the other 2 have no issues what so ever. Putting his ability to infuriate me with his weird bathroom issues aside (I caught him sleeping with his head in his old litter pan a few times), I got my animal order and I'm really excited, going to try the quail first. Honestly I was expecting them to be smaller, I am very pleased at the size of them, and my rabbit is huge. I was a bit disappointed when I ordered, I wanted to get small rabbits but they ended up selling out by the time I went to order, so I had to settle for a medium. I haven't weighed it yet, but it definitely feels like it's 2 lbs and I'm not really sure how I am going to handle that yet.

hehehe... little stinker! But then he gives you that 'look', right? and you just can't stay mad at him...
Yayyyy!! New foods! I hope they like them! On that rabbit, just chop him up randomly and serve over a couple of days. You COULD remove the organs and feed them as a separate meal, but that's a lot of work and it's not really necessary. Most likely, unless someone is just really averse to organs, they'll all get enough, especially since they're all eating smaller individual prey items also. Usually, ferrets will eat what they need nutritionally. So if Clyde, for example, is feeling a lack of liver, he'll go for the liver first. I'm feeling too lazy to look back in the thread to see if everyone eats their organs or not.. pretty sure Clyde and Thor do, but if Loki doesn't, you might want to just give him an organ meal at some point during the week, feeding him separately to make sure he gets some organs.
Are your quail still feathered? If so, it may take some getting used to for the fuzzbutts. You may need to cut them open so they can find the meat inside. Same thing with the rabbit.. they've been eating mice and rats, but that fur is much shorter and usually less dense than rabbit fur. I think you also got cavies?? Most fuzzies really like those. Jason posted a good video on removing innards from whole prey that you might want to watch if you haven't already. I'll try to post a link in a minute.
