lol no. This is there first time with kidney & liver ;p I'm going to do my best on getting more variety this weekend if I can go. Most likely can get something. Also they've been eating pork, chicken, beef, & lamb (: There list next week will be: Saturday: A.M: 1/2 chicken heart & 1/2 beef kidney P.M: Gizzard Sunday: A.M: beef heart P.M: beef liver Monday: A.M: chicken necks P.M: lamb chops Tuesday: A.M: chicken wings P.M: chicken wings Wednesday: A.M: drum sticks P.M: pork Thursday: A.M: chicken wings P.M: chicken wings Friday: A.M: chicken necks P.M: steak Perfect! Great job on the menu. I don't know why but I thought they were already eating liver. Let me know how they take the liver when you give it and depending on how they react we will go from there. We might need to do a mini-switch with them to get them happily eating their organs like good fuzz.

Yeah, go ahead and try a little kidney too. Let me know how they do with each. You might need to hand feed a bit. If they don't take to it blend it up and see if they like soup - sometimes it is a texture thing more than taste with organs. You can add a little salmon or olive oil to entice them if they don't like the plain organ soup. LEt me know how it goes.

I'm starting to think my little fiends are half polecat They ate everything and wanted more! I have a question, how many grams do you feed yours each meal ? I've been giving mine anywhere from 40-50 grams each meal. If I give them more, I find it wasted in the bowl next feeding time, 8 hours later.

I've been giving mine anywhere from 40-50 grams each meal. If I give them more, I find it wasted in the bowl next feeding time, 8 hours later. Great! They are wonderful little ferts. Did they gobble the liver and the kidney? I don't weigh my meals, I'm familiar with how much my boys eat so I just eyeball it. I'm not a big fan of listing specific meal weights anyways because each ferret is so different. One might eat 4oz a day, another might eat 1oz. They also eat significantly more in the winter and less in summer. ALSO, they tend to eat more at the beginning of their switch to raw and then slow down once their bodies have caught up on nutrients. The rule of thumb is to always feed enough that there is a tiny bit leftover after each meal. Then you know they got their fill (rather than eating it all and wanting more), but waste is minimized. If it helps you get a better idea of how much to feed, keep a journal. Weigh each meal before you feed it and then weigh any leftovers, and log it in the food journal - then you know about how much they are eating each meal. A food journal is never a bad idea either bc you can keep track of what you are feeding over the course of the week in case you forgot an organ meal or something. It also gives you a reference if they get sick (did they get a new food recently that could be an allergy? Have they been eating less?). Writing it down on a calendar or planner works well. It is also a super good idea to weigh them regularly and write it down somewhere you won't lose it. Then you have a reference to look at and help you notice if they are losing too much weight. It also helps prevent panic because you can keep track of regular weight patterns... "Okay they are losing a bunch of weight and I am worried - but look they lost this much weight last Spring too so it's just their normal Summer weight. Oh phew!" Speaking of... When you get a chance please post an update of their weights and pics.

Yeah.before they were eating anywhere from 70-80 grams. Now40-50. There's a few chucks leftover each meal.
The journal is a fantastic idea. I have there weight writing down in a binder, but never thought about that. I will probably do that.
I'll do that tomorrow (:

Ditta: 997 G - 117 GSnax: 894 G - 125 GPictures are coming sooner i have a question, my fuzzies seem to have itchy skin I've bathed them in flea & tick shampoo but there still itchy. Is there anything I can do to make them less itchy?

Is there anything I can do to make them less itchy? Have you checked to make sure your scale to make sure it is zeroed out before weighing? Please do post pictures. If you can get one from above and beside with them standing, that would be helpful. That is not extreme weight loss but it is enough to be a little concerning, esp considering they should be going into winter mode and packing on the chub. 1) Are they eating all of the meat that you give? Are there leftovers? 2) How are they both pooping? (And what do poops look like?) 3) what are activity levels like? 4) how do their coats feel? (Soft, coarse, shedding?) 5) Do you know if they are already in or entering winter mode?

Oh and 6) Are you 110% sure they are eating and swallowing everything? (some ferrets fake it with foods they don't like believe it or not - just like little kids lol) Be sure to check for stashes too. 7) Are you leaving food in the cage so they have free feeding access all day and all night? Or are you removing food after meals?

(And what do poops look like?) they look fine, put together, other then organs. 3) what are activity levels like? Super active. They are running around war dancing like crazy 4) how do their coats feel? (Soft, coarse, shedding?) soft, other then being itchy. Ditta Snax I had just finished taking these pictures after you posted that. I can wake the fuzzies and take the side shots if you want.
