Hmmm...Well they look really great! I wouldn't be too worried. Check your scale and weigh them again in a few days. Their coats look amazing and they look nice and plump. Could just be from them slowing down their intake after adjusting to raw. How are their poops and energy levels?

Sorry. In the first quote I answered all the questions right next to yours. Now that I look they look kind of hidden.
II'm amazed with there body now. Before they were really skinny and wifey coats. There body now is thick with muscle and very soft.
I'm kinda disappointed I just now found your little Christmas gifting thread, but seems I'm to late.
I think I've solved this problem. I fed the ferrets at 6AM this morning like I usually do, they ate almost all of it, later at 10AM. They were making a lot of noise. More than usual. I went to there cage and they ran to there food bowl.I look and saw there was nothing in there. I warmed up 41g more of kidney and threw it in there. Where they happily at a quartet of it, then went back to sleep.
I'm thinking I wasn't feed them enough through out the day. From now on I'll give them 80-90g in the morning then 40g at night.
I'm pretty positive I wasn't feeding them enough. They both ate and used the little box about an hour or so ago, and decided toweigh them.
Ditta: 1021g +24g Snax: 910g +16g
So i just got back from the store!
I found two little Cornish Game hens (dance) I picked up another chicken, and two packages of pork as well.
I think I'm pretty much set for a while!
Now I have all the organs I need, plus with the chicken I'll get two small livers, not sure if the Cornish games have any organs still in there.
I have a variety of bones both Cornish Game hen & Chicken. I have pork, steak, chicken, game hen, & lamb.
I believe I have everything I need right?

Will respond to your post later, but wanted to say I will add you to the Secret Santa exchange if you let me know no later than tomorrow am. I am making this exception bc I extended the deadline until this afternoon and you had posted here that you wanted to join before then. Please read the rules in the first post of the thread and let me know if you still want to do it. I plan to assign Santas tomorrow so I need to know ASAP. I'll reply to the rest of your thread as soon as I finish studying for the night.

Knowing how much to feed takes some trial and error. The key is when you go to feed the next meal, there should always be a few (small) pieces left from the last meal. If there are a lot of leftovers, cut back a bit, if there aren't ANY leftovers, then feed more each meal. It takes some practice and experimenting. I'm pretty positive I wasn't feeding them enough. They both ate and used the little box about an hour or so ago, and decided toweigh them.
Ditta: 1021g +24g Snax: 910g +16gGood. Keep checking their weights at least once a week. The weight journal will help you keep track of what is a normal weight fluctuation vs abnormal, like we were talking about before. So i just got back from the store!

I believe I have everything I need right?Great! You do have what you need. I'd still give some turkey a try when you get some too. Something to keep in mind is you can always add a little extra meats here and there. So if the beef, pork, chicken, game hen are their main meals, and you come across some goat or have some scraps of turkey or see a good deal on duck or (you get the picture), you can toss in a little extra variety here and there when you find it. It keeps things exciting. Fish is super good for them in small amounts too. OH! Have you tried feeding them egg yet? If not, we should get them used to eating eggs as they are really good for hairballs. The whole egg is best. Sorry for the delayed reply today. I'm headed into finals so I have piles of extra studying to do. lol

Yes! I'm definitely going to picm up some Turkey after chirstmas. Havent found any goat or duck. But I'll keep looking. When I have a chance maybe at the Asian markets. I did. A raw egg. Havent tried scrambled ywt, but they did eat the raw egg (and made a huge mess) I took the fuzzies outside with jackets on this morning since it snowed last night. They touched the snow. Sniffed it, turn around and were bouncing to get inside Good luck studying

If by scrambled eggs you mean cooked, no need to bother with that. If by scrambled you mean raw but mixed up - then if they have already eaten whole egg un-mixed, mixing it shouldn't cause any issue. AS good as they are with accepting new things so far I don't expect you will have much trouble anyways. SO....you now have everything you need. Your fuzz are eating bones, organs, hearts, and a variety of meats. You are doing great with introducing new meats, and have a few tricks up your sleeve to use if they are stubborn about something. You also seem to have the balance down well. Do you have any other major questions, or anything else you want to tackle? You have done a fantastic job. I feel you are just bout ready to graduate. So, if you will please post a final menu, using all of the foods that you have on hand, I will look it over and then submit it to Heather for final approval for graduation. Please keep in mind that even after you graduate, I will always be available through PM. Also, because I know that you are working on the rabbits, when they are ready if you decide that you want some help in getting your babies used to eating fur and whole prey, just let me know and we can always reopen this thread.

lol no need to update the pics, you just posted some. I am assuming by "chicken bones" and "CGH bones" you mean meat and bones. Would you mind making the chicken ones more specific (like are some meals wings, some legs, some necks? all wings? etc). As soon as you do that I will send it off for approval. You have your bone in meals, organ, and heart and your 3+ protein sources. Keep in mind as well that you can add more bone-in meals if needed if their poops are looking soft. And egg should just be fed raw, just like their meats - no need to cook it. I love your binder idea. It is great to stay organized and you will find it will be super helpful in keeping track of things. Everyone should have a binder like that. Hmm.... haha

Sorry about that, fixed it.
How many times a week/month should I give them raw eggs? I love my binder! It's so easy, especially since I'm new to things. I can take pictures if you wanna see it (:

Actually, I would love to see pics if you don't mind! As far as egg it really varies. As a general rule, no more than 1 egg per ferret every 3-4 days. During hairball season (when they are shedding) you can give them more often if/when needed (every other day is generally the limit even in hairball season or they get really bad poops). When it isn't shedding season I don't recommend giving egg more than once, maybe twice a week. (One per ferret). I personally don't feed eggs on a regular basis, just here and there. Some people offer them weekly. You'll know if you gave them too much bc they will have some nasty poops. LOL Eggs are GREAT for hairballs though so if they ever seem backed up, or are hacking/coughing (signs of hairball) definitely give them some egg. I add salmon oil to the egg too both as an extra treat, a supplement (good for coat and skin health), and extra lubrication for hairballs.

Just noticed on the menu edits. Game hen wings alone are not going to be enough for a full meal. My two boys will polish off a quarter of a game hen. Your girls may eat a bit less, but I don't think just CGH wings will be sufficient. Can you add more meat to their meals? Same for the CGH necks. Can you quarter the game hens? They can and will eat the whole bird.

I want to see how their weights do over the next week too now that you are tracking their intake. Just make sure they aren't still losing before I send you off into the world. lol
