I'm glad he doesn't need surgery. I felt SO stupid standing there in front of the xray (staring at it with the vet) and the vet said to me "listen to me, there are no rabbit ears inside of him. Your ferret is fat and he has a large penis"

i'm sure you guys have been there too. i still feel stupid though. i have had bad experiences so i'm ultra paranoid. one of my ferrets swallowed a 1/2 ear plug once. it was not pretty. i don't like to 'wait and see' bc that is how they go downhill. i have seen a ferret go downhill fast in a matter of a day and a half. so, i will give sonny a big hug and kiss from all of his aunts and uncles at the HFF

Oh those fatties and their manly bits (again, personal experience--Paulie's had me concerned once too). So glad he didn't eat that ear! Phew! Great diligence, and now you are armed with some health information, of sorts.
Ferrets ... they will take over the world by giving us all heart attacks.

That is so fantastic....I'm so glad that your little one didn't need surgery and didn't eat those nasty rabbit ears. You were proactive that's the sign of a good ferrant. Nothing is left to chance. As you mentioned ferrets can go down hill so quickly, you do not have long to pull things together. Basically, you usually have about 12 hrs if you picked up the signs quickly enough, sometimes even less. Being responsible for not responding is by far much worse than being a little embarrassed ciao

Awesome news! Glad he didn't actually eat anything dumb and need surgery, and as a plus you know your heart is good because you made it through another ferret scare.
