thanks guys. I gave him vaseline. he actually liked it a lot. He's eating like a pig too. He's playing with his ball now. This freak. He's going to the vet tomorrow though. I don't care if he's acting normal. I'm hoping he won't need surgery.

Is your vaseline the white, clear. Seemingly there is also an amber or brownish type, this type is not to be ingested. Vaseline isn't a good thing and should only be used in dire emergencies. It lines the bowels preventing food absorbsion, and can result in poor absorption and wasting over a long period of time if not careful. Unfortunately, sometimes these things must be dealt with in this manner ciao

Yes it is the clear /white one. No color to it.100% white petroleum jelly. Anyway, I already gave it to him. I only gave it to see if he passes it. The ear does seem to be slowly travelling downward in his intestines. I don't intend to give him anymore vaseline as he will go to the vet tomorrow. But if he does need surgery then I hope the vaseline doesn't create a problem for surgery.

Glad he liked it straight. Kenai likes it straight, but Koda will only eat it if I mix it with FerretVite.

Oh no! This is my greatest fear as a ferrant-to-be. I've got my fingers-crossed for your little sweetheart and pray that he won't need surgery and that if he does it will go well and won't be too costly for you. On the positive side he sounds like he is doing quite well considering and that you are doing an awesome job handling the situation and staying calm until you see the vet tomorrow, so hopefully he'll be able to pass it!!!!

Vet is not even going to bother with a barium x-ray. Sonny is having surgery tomorrow. He's got to be on clear liquids only (vet said pedialyte) for 24 hours. My poor poor baby. I feel like the biggest dumb butt. And it kills me because he's happy and being his goofy self.

Hey- you caught it early enough that he's not even having a problem from it!!! That's being on the ball. Don't berate yourself because your ferret was being a ferret. Unfortunately, things do happen. And hopefully- he'll pass those things before the surgery. A candle will be lit for Sonny, AND for you!

Yeah I guess i'd rather have him go through surgery when he's strong like he is now. Usually by the time they stop eating the blockage causes them to dehydrate and causes pain. The insurance should pay about $700 or $800 for it. Thank god I signed him up!!
