Hello again,
I wasn't on the old forum for long before the move to this one so it's likely that few of you know me at all.
My name is Ashley, but I go by Allenya or Ami online.
I'm 25, I live in Kamloops B.C. with my boyfriend of 5 (6 this March) years. He's just finished his business degree and his computer programming degree. I work in my mothers office doing accounting and bookkeeping. I would love to get a job at a bakery some day. I love to bake and decorate what I've baked. I took a few courses last summer and made one of my friends wedding cakes.
We live in my Grandparents basement suite so that we can be around to help take care of my 82 year old grandmother who's health started to decline last spring. When she got sick again last time it was really bad and my grandfather came to me and asked us to move in. Partly to keep him company as well. However she is doing much, MUCH better so now we don't have to take care of her. We go up and visit and talk and once a week, on a Saturday normally, we make dinner for them. We help with canning. Shovel the snow and in summer will work on the garden with them.
We have many pets. Right now we have 9 furry children and 2 with scales. Starting with the ones we've had the longest and working to the newest we have:
Seth, a 3 year old Amel Corn Snake. He got him very young and he's going to pretty. We had his sister as well but she passed away so time ago.
Osiris, a 4 to 5 year old Charcoal Corn Snake. I'm not sure of his age as he had been turned into a local pet store by his first owner.
Prue,Piper and Phoebe, 1 year old Robo Dwarf Hamsters. I've breed Dwarfs for about 2 and a half years now. I had to stop for a month last summer due to me never being home, spending most of my time at work or ay my grandmothers looking after her. But I'm starting up again.
Zeus, Hades and Nyx, not ferrets. Zeus and Hades are brothers and are about 2 years old. Nyx is almost 7 months. I got the boys on Dec the 10th and Nyx on Jan the 11th. They are all sweethearts.
Poke and Dot are two mice I picked up this weekend. The are going to be my first really attempt at breeding mice for the snakes and ferrets.
Nameless male Dwarf Hamster I got today. One of my mothers friends is selling him to me because her female has started killing the babies and won't stop so she won't breed them any more. I'm not sure if he is named and i haven't picked a name for him yet.
My Snakes, Dwarfs and mice are on a natural diet. The ferrets are on Kibble but this will change. I want them on a natural diet.
We hope to eventually to get a dog, two ideally. And I want a cat even though he doesn't. And we may get a rat or two if the mice don't work out. Neither of us have had luck with mice before but I think it was due to where we bought them as they all died in a week.
And that's the family in a nut shell. (A crazy nut shell)
