Nope! He's about 3/4 done with that piece now. Do they just instinctually know how to handle sharp bones or do I need to watch out for hurted mouthparts?

No he'll be okay with the raw bones. Glad to hear he's making progress! If you're seeing a lot of excess, try cutting back slowly the amount of food you feed.

He's still doing well on raw. He's not wanting to go bigger than a couple of chicken ribs at a time or a segmented chicken wing, but that's not a problem. His menu is off because CGH is mixed in with chicken so I'm not entirely sure on the days there but he's getting three protein sources and liver and heart three times a week. Should I be looking for other organ sources to introduce?

Can you find kidney? That is usually the next easiest organ to find. I try to feed about 5% liver 5% kidney. Some other options may be kidney, brain, lung, reproductive organs. Really whatever you can find How is he doing with the bones?

I will keep an eye out for kidney in stores and I put the word out to hunting friends that I'm looking for organs. He's hit or miss with bones. He'll eat them sometimes but others he just doesn't want to put the effort in. He's getting some though and his whiskers and nails are looking pretty good.

Jackie needs to be away for a while, so I'll take over your thread until you are switched.

Okay. He's doing well and we're following the menu (which I can post again if you like). He hasn't eaten much between today and yesterday but it's a 3 day stretch of (HEY GET OUT OF MY CHILI BRAT) chicken from Sunday through Tuesday so he's probably just sick of it.

(HEY GET OUT OF MY CHILI BRAT) And with the chicken, yeah he's likely sick of it. I find when I feed the same thing two meals in a row, I don't dare to give it a third time, or I wind up throwing most of it out And yes, if you could repost it would be greatly appreciated

Snooty little brats, aren't they? ;D
MondayAM: Chicken MondayPM: Heart/Liver
TuesdayAM: Chicken TuesdayPM: Chicken
WednesdayAM: CGH WednesdayPM: Heart/Liver
ThursdayAM: CGH ThursdayPM: CGH
FridayAM: Pork FridayPM: Heart/Liver
SaturdayAM: Pork SaturdayPM: Pork
SundayAM: Chicken SundayPM: Chicken
He doesn't seem to mind the double days too much, it's just the chicken he doesn't like as much. Should Sunday be a CGH or Pork day?

I'd make it CHG. Okay, the chicken- breast, wing, thigh? And which ones. Pork- rib ends, roast, chops? And are you going to introduce another protein soon? Or is this what you have available to you?

I wasn't planning on it but I can try to find something else if you think I should. The chicken is whole chickens so it varies--right now he's mostly getting ribs and wings. As for the pork, it's chops.

Basic minimum is 3 proteins. More is always better if possible. If not, it's fine Myself, I feed approx. 7. Chicken, turkey, beef(to some), pork, quail, goat, lamb, mice. I used to feed duck, but can't find the brand they are willing to eat any more

I brought him pork and he only had one little piece of that, and that was only AFTER I slathered it in tone. This is a distressing turn of events.

Now that I posted about being worried he finished off the pork. Brat.

They can be brats ;D Best way I found to introduce a new protein is to cut it tiny and mix a small amount in with their favourite, then start increasing it. As they accept it you can then feed it as a whole meal.
