How are bones coming along?

Well, he's not entirely eating the bone, but he's eating the meat off the bones and crunching on the bones. Eats part of the bone. The other day I caught him with a bone sticking out of his mouth, totally free of meat, crunching away.
There are however pieces of bone left over in his cage.
Pagan has decided he's not so desperately hungry that he's going to bother with meat on the bone anymore. *sigh*.

Oh now you have TWO stubborn ones on your hands! haha Lucky you! Can you crush the bones up a little bit smaller at all?

I've ordered a meat mallet from ebay. So... I hope I will be able to soon! At least Pagan isn't fussy about types of meat. And Nib is improving. Before if the meat was on the bone he wouldn't touch it at all. Now he'll at least chew on the bone if not eat the whole thing.

they've been eating some pork offcut bones lately. Meat with a thin layer of bone attached to it.

This week I've been falling back on crushed egg shells, because I've been so busy with my Dad in hospital etc.

He had open heart surgery. He just got home, but I've been trying to be at my parents as often as possible so that I can help Mum out.

I'm sure they both appreciate the help. Did the surgery go well? I hope he is back on his feet and feeling well soon! *hugs* Send him my well wishes. You too, take care of yourself too.

It is a big surgery. I hope he heals quickly. I have a question for you. You are more than able to balance the diet correctly, and other than bones your babies are eating raw well. I am MORE than happy to continue this thread until they are eating bones better, especially given the dental issues you had with Nib and how stubborn they are both being. That said, if you feel that you can get them to whole bones on your own by gradually increasing the sizes, I can propose to Heather that you are ready to graduate. It is up to you, and up to her - she may not approve until they eat eating bones better, but given their age I don't think she will be against it. You deserve to graduate, you are long on a balanced raw diet for your babies. I don't want to hold you back I the program so to speak if you feel ready to officially graduate. If you want to keep the thread open though, that is totally fine too! I really, really enjoy working with you and I always look forward to my regular Nib and Pagan updates! I just wanted to offer you the option since you have been so far along for so long now. Ball's in your court! Hope your dad is doing well and the fuzzers are behaving themselves!
