I have minced bones up into his food... he's fine with that. I have yet to find a way to just get a bit of meat on a bone and crush it up. Should I be getting a meat mallet or something? Nib just lets him steal the food... then goes and steals Pagan's.

You can use an ulu, that is what I have the best luck with. I can't imagine not having one! A lot of people use a mallet or hammer. Just make sure you have a nice hard surface to smash them on. :0

oh. I don't have one of those. Wouldn't that cut it, rather than crush it?

Not really. It breaks the bone well. You can use it for blunt force to smash or cut through. The type of bone and amount of force used make a big difference. I can get ulus for $3 here. I don't know what shipping to AUS is though. I have shipped them there though so I know it can get through customs.

Yay! Nibbler is currently eating a bit of chicken wing with a bone in it! I chopped it up well by basically slamming a knife on it for a while to smash up the bones (probably wrecked my knife... lol) and then sliced/hacked them into pieces. They seem to be small enough for his mouth finally. Yayyyy! Success. Pagan is eating a wing that I smashed up but didn't slice up. He has no problems chewing through bits of skin.

Good boys!!!! Let Nibbler munch on bones that size for a while, give him a week maybe to build up those chomping muscles, then up the size by crushing them a little less. You can do the same for Pagan too.

And right now, Pagan is eating some liver. Wow. I'm so thrilled. Good boy Nib!! Good boy Pagan!! Hope Pagan's coat looks great/better soon, and that he puts on some more weight. He did have some raw meat in his old life, but not balanced, and he had kibble too. He's such an easy boy to feed.

I'm glad they are doing so well. Keep piling on the fatty meats. I'd try giving him raw soupies a few times a week too.

Seems like he's over 1 kg now! Though I'm not sure, the scales wobble lot until the thing being weighed is still.
I'm really happy. He's looking and feeling a lot healthier. Still feels like a summer weight but he doesn't feel unhealthy any more. Amazing what just one week of good food can do!

Nib chewed up some bones, and so did Pagan.
