Oh that's not a bad idea. I tried burrito wrapping him and it worked for a very short period, but then he wiggled backwards right into the burrito and hid there and would not come out! ;D I had to scruff him to get him to eat anything else, and then it was only a little and more of it ended up ON him than IN him.
I gave Kenai some Super-Soup (same stuff I gave Koda). It's commercial ground raw, pork, pumpkin, extra virgin olive oil, vitamin/probio powder, and water. He ate some of it, a lot more than he ate earlier this night (when he made the mess in the pics above). I think I waited too long in between med dosages as it was a bit over 12 hours. He was being much more active and didn't want to eat. I think after the meds kicked in he felt good enough to eat - and he was zonked out again. I gave him some pepsid per the vet's suggestion so hopefully that helps even further. Fingers crossed he has a good appetite in the morning! I left a scoop of soup in the cage with him, but I doubt he'll get up to eat it on his own.

"the overeating of slow-digesting fatty high-protein foods causes the stomach to secrete and retain copious amounts of acid. When this hyper-acidic condition occurs chronically, the stomach and intestines can become inflamed and ulcerated and the pylorus sphincter, which normally allows food to enter the duodenum, can become swollen shut. This typically leads to fermentation and putrefaction of the stomach’s contents, GERD (gastroesophogeal reflux disease), vomiting and great pain. Chronic inflammation and ulceration lead to cancer." Kind of sounds like what happened, no? Has their diet changed at all? Maybe you have been feeding more fat than normal? I am glad Kenai seems to be very slowly recuperating and that you are working in concertina with the vets. Just want to add a caution. Keep a close eye out. If I am understanding what Jacksmomma posted correctly, there is a valve off the stomach through which things leave that can for whatever reason be shut off, when that happens things are trapped and start to ferment in the stomach. From your post about what the vet removed, it sounds like this valve has been somewhat faulty for a while as such a big amount had built up. So please be careful with making him ingest food, meds etc that they are not just causing another build up because if the valve is still faulty, things may not be progressing through properly. Sorry this is in my layman's terms and I may have misunderstood what may have happened but just think it is better to be wary. Keeping you all in my thoughts and hope all your guys are soon being healthy little fuzzems and let you have a break from worry.

Ahh I have a GOOD update for once! Kenai is madly chewing and clawing at the bars to come out of his cage! Yaaay! That's the most spunk he's shown since his surgery (the pain meds really zonk them out!). I'm taking that as a good sign that he is feeling better! He still isn't eating enough for my likings, and neither is Koda, but it's progress.

Just wanted to add as well, I forget which thread it was mentioned in but RE separating Koda and the babies. That has already been done. Koda has been staying in the travel cage, the babies are in the top level of the FN, and Kenai on the bottom.

Did they figure out what it was in his stomach? Poor little Koda and Kenai, they have had a pretty rough go of it lately.

No. The vet who actually did the surgery isn't back on until Sun night. They rotate the night sifts week on week off I believe. Hopefully then I'll be able to talk to her and get some thoughts from the person who actually SAW it.

Just a quick update before bed. The vet called me back and we decided to hold off on giving Koda meds other than pepsid to soothe his belly. She also said that I should put Koda and Kenai back together since separating them was causing them both to stress more. I definitely thi k that was the right choice... I put Kenai in with Koda and they immediately curled up together in a tight little ball of fur. Other than when I took them out to give meds and feed, they haven't unwound from eachother. My poor lovey babies. They are so happy to be with eachother! Hopefully this is what they both needed to heal up faster. On a side note, I already knew I liked this particular vet (Dr. D) as I had worked with her before with Tito. I had also read on the clinic site that she does holistic treatments. Well since working with her with the boys I've fallen in love. I saw Dr. M for both boys' emergency visits, but Dr. D did Koda's surgery and Dr. M did Kenai's. Dr. D is who I have been dealing with on the phone because Kenai's surgery was the last day of Dr. M's week-on shift. Anyways, I fount out tonight that she (Dr. D) feeds her own cats and dogs raw! Now I am extra in love with her!

Putting them back together is likely going to help both of them a LOT

That was probably the best thing you could have done for the pair. I'm glad the two boys are together again. Less stress for both of them ciao

Thanks for posting that Mikey. I keep wanting to load pics and stuff keeps happening. I appreciate you posting that one. Just a quick phone update on Kenai before I go to bed. I'm not sure he is doing too well. The bad thin about putting them together is it is harder to track who is pooping what. He seems really lethargic still, but when he does get up and about he looks alert. Maybe he just hurts still? Koda was really active by now...almost back to normal. I also feel like he has some fluid build up or swelling on his abdomen when he sits in certain positions, but then in others I can't see it at all. I bumped the heat up in my house too, on top of being half bald be is blowing his cost so I think he is cold. He was shivering really badly today. He has begun to associate my hand with metro. it breaks my heart. He only has 5 doses left (2.5 days). I don't even know how much is getting Into him to be honest. I really don't think he is eating on his own yet (put pork in the cage and a lot was left when I got home tonight). I gave him a different soup tonight - just plain chicken and pumpkin with lots of water. He ate 4-5 big spoon fulls (I lost count at one point), which is the most he has eaten in one feeding since the surgery. I hope he keeps that up. to get him to eat anything I have to hold him in my lap on his back like an otter, in a scruff, and really push him to eat more every time he stops. He stops for periodic breaks to grind his teeth. I hate to do this to him, esp as sensitive as he is and after all of this, but tomorrow we are driving to Fairbanks for the weekend. (leave tomorrow night get back Mon night). I HAVE to go, this will almost certainly be the last time I see my grandmother while she is coherent (Alzheimer's going downhill ) and possibly even the last time I will see her. (though I certainly hope not!!!!) It's also my only chance to bring Hagrid and Hazel up to their proper home. With everything going on, I don't DARE leave the boys behind with a pet sitter. So they are coming with. I feel horrible about it. I dot even want to go; esp after my car problems today I'm really freaked out to drive. But like I said, it is incredibly important that I do go.

I think it's good that the boys are going with you. I don't think, myself, I could have left them behind either. Give the wee ones a hug from me. Tell them to get better soon. ciao
