Kenai keeps doing this when he eats, from the top of his head you can see the muscles on one side working. Is he grinding his teeth?

It does to me as well. Can you feel his teeth grinding together when holding him?

Kenai is in pain or nauseas did they give you any pain control for him. He's just had surgery and you mentioned a possible ulcer....what drugs are they giving to treat the ulcer? He should be getting relief within 48 hrs from the antibiotics. ciao

looks like teeth grinding... I'm with Heather on this...... what was given for the ulcer? Some antibiotics can be as upsetting to the tummy as the bacteria causing the ulcer - then there's the ulcer itself and the surgery...poor little poot!!!! It just sucks when babies hurt. Carafate/sucralfate is usually given for ulcers, but tummy surgery may change the protocol. Similarly, something that coats the entire tummy (like slippery elm) might be helpful, but I would not try it without checking with the vet.....you need to understand what was done (incisions? where? etc.) Nothing is ever easy with sick brats...<sigh...> Sending healing fert prayers to Kenai and good thoughts to you , Koda, and the rest of the crew....they can feel the stress. -jennifer

He is on amoxicillin (a relatively high dose, he's on .4mL BID, when the babies were being treated for ECE they got .2 and they weighed just as much if not more as Kenai), he gets metro .2mL I think (have to check it's pre-drawn up) and buprenorphine for the pain. I am hoping to get a call from the vet tonight so I can ask more questions. I might ask about giving pepsid too...

I would get some sort of tummy buffer. I know every vet seems to have a preferrence but that would be my thought ciao

I admit I was surprised we "only" got 3 meds. Koda got 5 for his ulcer, and he hadn't even had surgery...

Ugh, I know I shouldn't be surprised but Kenai just had bad diarrhea... It smells awful too.

OMG. Now Koda is throwing up what appears to be blood, and he is digging in his bed. Kenai didn't want to eat tonight, I really had to fight him to get some food down. Mostly finger fed in either a burrito wrap or a scruff. I have also been syringe feeding him water because he still seemed a little dehydrated. He also REALLY fights the meds and I'm just not sure how much is getting IN him vs ON him.

Vet said keep an eye on Koda, I sent her a picture of the vomit and she thinks it could be organ meat but it *might* be blood. She said keep him eating and drinking and watch him, if it keeps up she will put him on the same meds Kenai is on.
Kenai is getting pepsid to coat his belly and hopefully help with the teeth grinding. Still no real ideas as to what on earth happened inside of Kenai's belly so she's suggesting the biopsy to tell us more. It can test for infections agents, tumors, and parasites in the stomach wall. It is in formalin so it is good for infinity, so I have some time to decide and save up for it. She does not think it is ECE because of the lack of diarrhea

try putting a tube sock with the end cut off over him to help keep him clean or part of a shirt sleeve.
