I think Heather meant if it is a kibble poop she thinks it is ok but if it is a raw feed then it is too dry, instead of kibble again. Hehehe

The jelly could be from some fur passing through

Alright another Loki dilemma. He some how got into some ivory soap and had a few nibbles. And possibly s little of the paper. Like not kidding a little little bit. He was quiet and a quiet ferret (I've learned) is a sneaky ferret. So I checked and sure enough. Anyways, he's gagging now off and on. He pooped an hour later and it looked normal. No lumps in his tummy when I feel. He's s little slowed down. But it's really hot here too. So my question is, what is the protocol for that?

As far as eating paper, i would think getting water in tummy would help break up paper. Maybe someone else has a suggestion. I have found one of my previous ferrets nibbling on soap. Just keep it out of reach. I dont know why they think the taste is appealing I will address it being hot ---do u have air conditioning if not, I would take a bath cloth and wet him down every so often or get fur wet however you want to----not cold water as that would be a shocker. Also u can syringe feed water. I have taken a tad of chicken baby food and mixed it with water. My ferret drank it out of teaspoon. It was pretty well diluted. Make sure you keep your ferret cooled down. They do not sweat. Therefore, they do not cool down like we do.

He's sleeping a lot. And he is gagging a lot. Almost like he might have something in his throat. He doesn't want me to touch him and he doesn't want out of his cage. @sherry @poncesmom update: he is playing. Pooped and passed a bunch of paper and soap. I let him have a bowl of water and he drank really big and then put his face in it a bunch and gagging slowed down. He is still doing it but not as much.

Loki is keeping you on your toes. Goodness. See if a you can put a few drops of oil in his water. He may be gagging from the taste of the soap. I hope that's all it is. Keep an eye on him. Vet offices will be closing now, around your time. If he actually begins vomiting or seems to crash, he will need an emergency vet visit. The soap should dissolve, I would think. I don't know about the paper. Any chance you can reconstruct the soap and paper and see how much is gone and how much has appeared in his poo? Watch his next poop and see if anything else passes through. I would like Heather to weigh in or unclejoe. To tag Sherry, you need to use the @ sign in front of the word admin. I'm doing it for you, Sherry. It will show up in bold. There are some members who have a different name behind their profile name. Sherry is one. If you hover your cursor over someone's name, you can see how it is spelled. I have had one or two who like the taste of soap. I haven't had one eat a wrapped bar yet. I don't have to tell you this now, but put the soap up high and away. Keep us update please. I should be on for a bit more, than I have to sign off for the night. Sending all my best wishes.

He passed paper and soap. The second poo nothing. Just normal. He is gagging a lot and he seems very slow. Doesn't want to play at all.

I would start blockage protocol (1tbsp pumpkin and 1 tspn petroleum jelly alternating between each on the hour). If he starts vomiting or goes downhill go to the vet immediately. Many years ago 1 of my ferrets, Diablo, became lethargic etc. and I spent time going back and forwards from the vet with him getting worse and worse. He nearly died but as a last resort we did surgery. He had a blockage, a small bit of plastic (like from packing for paper towels), less than a cm sq. I think he got it helping me with unloading shopping and digging at paper towels. Accidently ingested it & had it floating round without a problem, but then when he leapt on the bed the day he became lethargic, it moved into a spot that blocked him up. It doesn't take much for something to be a life threatening blockage, so while there is a chance there is any more paper in there, I would do blockage protocol and be prepared to race to the vet in case it doesn't get out with the protocol.
Hope it is already out but just want to hopefully help you avoid what I went through with Diablo.
Best of luck to you and Loki, you are in my thoughts

I agree. Although his stomach acids should dissolve the paper there may be too much in there. The soap don't worry about. Blockage protocol is as follows: 1 tbsp pure pumpkin. One hour later 1 tsp white vaseline/petroleum jelly. Alternate for 4 hours. You are looking for big orange poops. If at any point he starts actively vomiting back up what he just had get to a vet asap.
