Glad she said no kibble---not many vets will say that. anyway from what i learned on forum the two do not mix and will cause tummy problems as raw digests faster than kibble.
What kind of food did the vet suggest? Lamb is supposedly gentle on tummies.

Going to keep him on the recovery since he's had the most success with that. For now anyway, and maybe I can find a good grain free canned food, like wellness core or something similar. Plus the digestive enzymes, from what I read and what my vet told me. Over the counter ones will not help. And he'll get a prescription for some at the pharmacy, like the ones they use with EPI in dogs and cats. I'm not going to try to switch things around right now while he's so sensitive. Apparently he had a semi formed poop yesterday at the vets. He spent the night at my vets house last night. She said she was going to feed him 3ml of food every 2 hours. Which I know is not enough, but she took a biopsy of his intestine just in case. A little food is better than none.

Awwwe, my best wishes for your baby's recovery! A good canned cat food (as far as commercial products go) is Go! Fit and Free by petcurean. They are a BC company based out of Chilliwack. Just out of curiosity (because your profile says you're from BC), if you are in the Lower Mainland, which vet do you go to? It sounds like she is really ferret knowledgeable and goes above and beyond for her patients.

I recently read from Katt that rabbit is also mild like lamb and easily digestible. What about that Carnivore Care? I've only read about it, but I've seen some ferrents say it can help. Hugs to Sunny and high hopes for a good recovery.

Hopefully once we have a dose and start him on digestive enzymes he will start to get better. My vet is awesome. It's just too bad he had to have surgery only to discover that he is a perfectly healthy ferret, but for whatever reason isn't making enough digestive enzymes. Can't really find a whole lot about it in ferrets. But apparently a flare of pancreatitis can cause it.

So will they try pancreatic enzymes?

I truly suggest you to try Carnivore Care, as @poncesmom suggested. It is easily digestible, high calorie and a weight gainer, specially designed for sick or convalescent carnivores. I have used it myself post op and it helped a lot - for a ferret with surgery, and afterwards gastritis, when he couldn't/wouldn't eat at all or just vomit food out.

Can you order the carnivore care from somewhere? Or do I ask my vet about it. I am in BC, but I'm in the kootenays. I take them to arrow lakes vet and they see Dr. Kelly. I've been taking my ferrets to her for a long time. For 18 years. I wouldn't trade her for any vet in the world. I trust her, and probably only her to look after my ferrets.

Nope, they don't ship to Canada. And other retailers in canada that have it, only sell it to veterinarians. So when I go to pick him up I will ask her to get some.

i found it on ebay.ca, it's coming from the US, so the shipping is costly but if you can't find anywhere else..http://www.ebay.ca/sch/Pet-Supplies-/1281/i.html?_from=R40&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=carnivore+care

That was so sweet that your vet took him home.
Do hope he gets well soon.

Have you thought about giving him pork pancreas with every meal? It is what we do with dogs who have this condition. I recently noticed that some of my ferrets were not digesting their food properly (birdseed poops), so I have been adding ground pork pancreas to their meals, and they all have perfect poops now.

I'm sorry, I've been sick the last couple days and still dealing with end of semester and internship, so I just saw this thread. I'm glad that Sunny made it through and hopefully you can deal with it. Get Well Soon, Sunny Bear.
