Oh good. No lady wants to lose her hair/fur. I haven't dealt with Adrenal, but I have dealt with Insulinoma. I mentioned this before, but when my Ponce (my first ferret) developed Insulinoma, he refused to eat. I would have done anything to get him to eat. I bought Duk soup also. That's when I found the Forum. Ponce developed Lymphoma and we lost him to that. I stayed on the forum and began to learn as much as possible. I was nervous about feeding raw, it seemed so complicated and I took almost a year before I made a full switch. First, I began feeding FDR and my little business grew and now, we have five ferrets. I went thru the Mentoring process and finally became confident enough to trust that I was doing it correctly. Then I became a Mentor in Training because I have so many on the waiting list. We have some great Mentors. If you are interested here is the link to Meet your Mentor: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/176/meet-mentorWe have some pretty experienced ferrents and they can be helpful with medical issues, reading bloodwork and understanding medicines. That can be so helpful to have someone to talk with. :wave2: What program did you use for your Signature of your furbabies at the end of all your messages? It's beautiful!

When my Neichei had Insulinoma and it started getting worse I started feeding her Carnivore Care twice daily with her meds, it made her weight go from 14 ounces to 26 ounces in just 3 months, was a miracle for her. I do wish I had put her on raw because I know it would have helped keep her much more stable as it did my Juliet, but at the time I was still new to the forum and didn't feel ready to take it on. It was 1 yr of being a member here before I decided to switch my fuzzies, best decision I ever made and even though it's been rough it's been worth it. You're doing such a great job taking care of your babies already, I know how difficult it is and how your world can come crashing down when they get sick, since 1 month after adopting my first ferret 3 years ago I haven't had more than 5-6 months not having one mine be ill, but I do believe they know how much we love them and that's what you have to remember, do the very best you can for them, they'll love you just for that.

Well I can now get both of them to lick it off my fingers, just not out if their bowl. The problem I can see in the mornings is when my husband feeds them in the morning. He cannot wait for food to thaw out. I did thaw it this morning in a bowl of warm water. Would it be ok to that it overnight on the nights I work? It would be 3 days of doing that and then I do the other days, That or he can pull it out before he leaves and I can feed them when I get home. But I usually don't get home until 9 am and he gives the meds at 6:30-7 am

another question. I remember being told they need at least 3 different types of protein. Since this diet has chicken and turkey, should I get another type of raw bites, like rabbit or quail to mix in as well?

Just tried again and now I can get both of them to eat it off a spoon with very minimal restraint. I am getting very encouraged by that. Now I have a pet store by me that does sell freeze dried chicken wings and backs for dogs(includes bones). Is that something I can consider to give them as treats? I worry about leaving raw meat out since I do have a kid and a husband with a low immune system. I do my best to keep everything clean. I plan on offering the food mixed with some water(they like the soupy texture) every few hours right now to get them used to it. I wasn't expecting it to be this easy.

Do you mean put it in a bowl of water overnight to thaw? I've had troubles with waking up and their food still being frozen, and since soup is good in the fridge for about 36-48 hours, as an example on Monday morning after feeding breakfast I pull 2 soup bags out of the freezer and put them in the fridge, so that way Tuesday mornings soup will be thawed for sure. I've never fed commercial/frozen raw so I'm not sure about the proteins, we will let Stef (poncesmom) answer that That's awesome they're doing so well! I'd say the freeze dried treats would be just fine, but getting them to eat bone is usually not very easy though definitely possible and if you can it'd be great for them to have some bone to help with keeping their teeth clean, even as a treat.

It's the food I am talking about, I make it soupy for them by adding water since they like that texture. I can thaw out the food overnight and then all my husband has to worry about is mixing it with water for them in the morning. Would that be alright?

Yes that's fine I thaw it overnight, add some water and if its still kinda cold I put it in the microwave for 5-10 seconds.

I didn't do it though. Gina built it for me. You need a program like Photoshop. I downloaded Gimp, but the learning curve was too steep for me. Gina is a professional photographer and offered to help me. Here is the link for building signatures, maybe it will be of help to you. holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/15018/signatures

another question. I remember being told they need at least 3 different types of protein. Since this diet has chicken and turkey, should I get another type of raw bites, like rabbit or quail to mix in as well? That's a very good idea. We suggest a minimum of three proteins for several reasons. One is that each protein has different nutrients. For example, red meat is high in Iron and Vitamin B. This variety gives them can cover alot of nutrients and vitamins. The other reason is that sometimes, a ferret will develop an intolerance or allergy to a protein. Chicken is rather common. Lamb on the other hand is rarely a cause for an intolerance or allergy. What we suggest for our kibble feeders and this could apply to your NV, is to get one other product from a different manufacturer and mix them. If there is a product recall or if a manufacturer changes their formula, a finicky ferret may refuse to eat the new product. If they are use to a mix of two, then you have the other product to fall back on. You talked about getting dog jerky treats. If you do that, then make sure it's 100 percent meat and nothing else. Also, avoid any products from China. They've been known to make our ferrets sick. Here is a link to making your own homemade jerky: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/5840/home-freeze-dried-jerky-treats

But I usually don't get home until 9 am and he gives the meds at 6:30-7 am Wow, you're making fast progress. That's so wonderful. I portion everything out after shopping. Then in the morning, I take out their dinner and put it in the top of the fridge to defrost. Then I pick up their dinner plates, put them in the dishwasher and put out their breakfast. At dinner, I pull out their breakfast and put it in the top of the fridge to defrost. I put out their dinner and pickup their breakfast plates. If you have their breakfast ready in the fridge, then your husband can simply add some warm water and stir it around. Does that sound like it would work? Does your husband have to give them some food before the Meds? One thing to reassure you is that the FDR is good for up to twelve hours. The soupie is good for 6-8 hours and in either case, if the food goes bad, then your ferrets won't touch it.

Actually they are actual chicken wings that are freeze dried, not jerky treats and chicken backs. They also have necks and stuff too. Just freeze dried. Though that would be good to use since I really can't give them raw stuff. My husband can mix in the water and that would be easier, he usually gives Mozart the Pred before he leaves so this way I don't have to do and go straight to sleep
