Nyx - 925g Baylis - 785g Oscar - 1550g i'm fascinated with Nyx's stool! it gets better and better every day after the organs and hearts their stool is funny, but otherwise is great. i'm so happy with all this raw feeding, only i wish that Nyx will begin to eat the meat and bones, not only the mince with chunks i made a short PowerPoint presentation few days ago (benefits of raw feeding in ferrets) for our Ferret community, someone will keep it up for me on saturday on "Animal corner" because i'm working. i'm so looking forward to hear the comments

Wonderful that Nyx's stool is improving, it would be great if she wants to eat bone and maybe will happen down the line, I would just continue to offer 1-2 times a week a little bigger bits, just to see if she will give it a try but either way mince is still raw, you'll just have to keep an eye on and possibly brush her teeth.
That's awesome about your presentation, what a great way to get people interested, hopefully it will get some converts or at least get some people thinking about what they feed.

that is a plan! about the "animal corner", there will be a presentations about the ears cleaning, checking glucose levels, trimming nails... everything what a responsable ferret owner should know about. so we thought that this "raw" presentatin would be a great thing to show them, since there'll be lots of ppl in there. more and more of them are trying to start the switch, some of them are succesfull . one more thing, Nyx is eating the beef now, she finnaly accepted it :boing:

Wow, she decided beef was ok after all, see you just can never tell. Makes you wonder how ferrets think sometimes, why something will be eaten one day and not the next or suddenly they will eat something they used to hate.
I love the idea of your presentation, it's sad how many people get a pet and really don't do the research on their care, sounds like a lot of good info is being covered which is really great.

few days ago, one of our volunteers found 4,5 yo female ferret on the street. she wasn't vaccinated, ever. she was full of fleas, with broken teeth, in heat... awful! we found her owner, he said she escaped last night. he wants to breed her after all, he doesn't know anything about proper ferret food, even the kibble. it's realy awfully sad what kind of people own a ferret about the HFF, what's my next move? is there anything else i should do?

Omg that poor ferret, it is so depressing when you find the owners and they just suck! You can only educate those who want to be. Maybe if you guys can keep a friendly line of contact and info open he will reconsider his care and choices. About all you can do in these type of cases.
As far as graduation, I think you are pretty good to go, normally Heather pops in and says a little bit so I'll have to see what she wants to do as I am just a mentor in training still. But huge congrats either way, you stuck with it through some hard issues and it paid off, you made a great choice for your ferrets health!

Hey you put in a ton of work yourself so go buy yourself a treat! Your English is perfectly understandable, especially in today's age of text talk and misspellings, you write a ton better than many people I know. If you have any questions, concerns, want to vent or whatever you can message me here or facebook or make a post here. So happy that we made it through a switch and also glad to hear that little ferret is getting some proper care, your group is doing amazing things.

Congratulations  You've graduated and you're ready to walk this path alone, now . You have the foundation to help you feed your fuzzes in a more natural and healthy manner. Please remember that your learning never stops, and dietary needs change from ferret to ferret and throughout each their lives. I would like you to be aware that though you now have the capability and the knowledge to create your little ones diets you are never alone and that your mentor (you need only pm) is always available to you. The list is also a very good resource and you should always be aware that it's available to answer any questions you may have either about diet or care. Good luck, in a few days either Sherry or I will lock down this thread and place it in the archives but be aware that you can always look through it as a reference tool but you just will not be able to post to it. Your mentor will be in to congratulate you shortly . ciao
