hope you'll be feeling better soon, it's always hard when something like this happen...
i tried to hook the food for Oscar, but he ripped the meat from the hook and stash it, and he does that from Baylis's cage too. he won't eat if there's no mince over it. i also have few feeding boxes (Baylis is eating in them), he don't want to eat inside. Nyx is on increased amount of stripes, just like when she was choking. but i still have to feed her with the spoon in the end of her meal to eat a bit more of stripes and chunks.
Baylis is eating the chicken now, but she takes only one piece of it in the meal. but that's good, right? she need to get used to that taste. the problem with her is the liver and organs, except the brain. she loves it!

Ah well whatever works to get him to eat in one place I guess. They do love to stash for later. Good that Nyx is eating a little bit of strips, even if she needs special attention to stay on task it's a step in the right direction. That's terrific Baylis will take the chicken! Compared to before that's a great sign, at least she is trying it. The more she eats it the more used to it she should get. You can also stick to a half organ/half regular soup to give a couple times a week to get liver into her, it's not a bad idea to give soup still and I know a lot have to resort to that trick to get certain ferrets eating organs. I wouldn't want to eat liver either lol.

how are you feeling today? i really hope you are better...
i think i'm giving Baylis too much food, almost every meal i give her in the morning, she finishes in the evening. i never know how much is enough, and always thinking i gave her to little...
i bought 2 rabbits few days ago, and minced it with lamb liver, kidneys and lungs, so i can give them "more organ" meal. they are not really thrilled, only Nyx ate one half of her bowl. Oscar and Baylis are turning heads away of it. i'm so sorry for ruining the rabbits LOL. total waste.. i have to force feeding them to try even a bit.

I am doing better, been trying to keep Hannibal occupied-I worry now that he is all alone.
Baylis might just be a night eater also, maybe her appetite really comes on later in the day. Or maybe she just prefers it after it's sat out for awhile. You could try lightening the morning meal and just giving a larger night one.
Oh no with the rabbit lol! Well you tried, sometimes that organ smell is just a turnoff. Kidneys have not been popular with mine, I used to save the rabbit ones and throw into soup instead of liver since mine have all eaten liver great. Rabbit heart/lungs mine would eat but I never tried other kinds of lung.

That is a good day! Glad chicken liver was a hit, it does seem to be a well accepted liver compared to others. I do hate organ poop but there's no way around that. Great for Oscar, see that's exactly why you should never give up, they might surprise you and give it a try. Hopefully we can get a repeat of that.

today is a day for chicken wings again. i hope Baylis will finally eat, at least half of it. i'll give it to Oscar too. she is thrilled with a rabbit meat, and every other meat seems to be a punishment for her. Oscar and Nyx ate the mince with a lamb (that ruined mince ),Oscar with bigger chunks and Nyx with more stripes. i left 1/4 of the chicken wing in Oscar's cage.

Watching him eat and crunch was fantastic, sometimes it just clicks and works out. Now cross your fingers he keeps it up. Sounds like they are all doing awesome, and not all the mince went to waste so that's a big plus. Baylis give hers a try this round? How are the poops looking? Ferrets are kind of harder in that regard, dogs/cats seem to get constipated or dry poop from too much bone but ferrets not so much, they can handle quite a bit of bone in at once without issue. Raw poop is smaller but not always prettier haha, I hate those organ poops especially.
Spring is here where I live so everything in the house is shedding like mad, swept the ferret room today and couldn't believe how much there was. I've never had hairball issues with my ferrets thankfully but can be an issue so if yours are shedding too keep an eye out. Someone's ferret on here had a hairball blockage!

Nyx - 845g Baylis - 770g Oscar - 1590g Yes, watching him eat the bone was total surprise for me Baylis won't eat the mince, only if i force fed her. but she ate chicken liver the other day and i'll give her that for now. their poops are great, except Nyx's after the chicken liver. it was seedy, greenish, and i won't give her any poultry, ever again. i put poultry away from her long time ago, and i just tried to give her once and see what will happen, since her stools were great during the raw feeding. and yes, organ poops are really ugly, dark and slimy, especially from girls, they poo and pee on the same pile Our shedding time is almost over, they all done it from the end of the March till now. I'm giving them pure vaseline without any aditives every 3-4 days during shedding time. But thanks for the advise <3

it's going so well with Oscar, only poork hearts is not his favourite food. i cutted pieces 2,5x2,5 cm big for his breakfast, and put 8 pieces in his bowl (probably too much), he ate only half o it. what you think, is that enough? and he ate rabbit back for dinner with pork meat (since he's eating pieces of meat only with the mince, i thought he would eat the meat too), but i had to put the mince with meat when he finished his rabbit. but only small amount.

If Oscar ate half the pork heart that's pretty good for something he dislikes, that's normal, I always offer a smaller amount if it's a meat I know my ferrets hate, no use wasting it and I "sandwich" it between a couple well liked meats. Normally I'll have to leave in meats that are disliked a bit longer than normal as well. That's not bad at all if it takes a bit of trickery to get him to eat chunks and he's still eating bone so great.
Definitely skip the poultry with Nyx then, pretty clear she's got an intolerance to it, will make feeding her a bit more work but doable with the rabbit bones. Baylis if she will stay eating chicken liver you can also maybe try mixing it with turkey liver, pretty similar meats. I use mostly those two and rabbit organs when I can get them.
