I have barely had both of my boys for a year now, and I am still learning about fuzzies (NEWB!)... The lady at the pet store, from which I got them, gave me the rundown on the basics, but according to what I've been reading on here, she didn't know much at all... I have a black mask(Jake) and an albino(Sid)... They are both a year old.. I have never fed them raw meat(didn't know they ate it). And I cannot get them liter trained But my main concerns are the fleas... Ive tried dosing them with kitten flea medicinefor months now, but it just isn't working... I even went as far as to tear up the carpet in their room... That didn't work either...I give them baths every month to 2 months, but I'm scared of drying out their skin... My Sidboy digs himself to the point of scabs and he's turning yellow around his neck! And I don't know what to do... Please help me... I need something that actually works....

Try revolution, the cat one (like 5-15 lbs). I usually split a single tube between 2 two lb fuzzies

Use the revolution, wash all bedding, clean the entire area thoroughly. If you use a vacuum, empty immediately.

Good old Dr. Bonners Pepermint Pure Castile Soap. It can be found in Health food stores. You can't miss it....It has Bible verses all over the label. I bathe mine in it. You have to pick the fleas off, but they do not come back.
I put the fleas in a bottle cap or small dish with the soap in it or rubbing alochol. Make sure they are dead.

That sounds like it might have peppermint oil in it... EDIT: Looked up the ingredients, it does have peppermint oil in it. So it's bad for ferrets. You should stop using it. Maybe it hasn't hurt them yet but in the long term it could make them sick or worse.

EOs build up over time. A single dose usually isn't fatal but over time they build up and cause issues (ferrets can't get rid of them).

When I went to Arkansas, I took Tesla with me. He got fleas from my sister skunk. The second we got home, I ran him up stairs in washes him down in Dawn regular dish soap. I threw all of his fabrics in the washing machine. I had to get rid of the fleas ASAP considering we had 6 dogs at the time and didn't want to infest the house. It worked - it killed all of the fleas on contact. I did the same thing when I moved in with my now ex bf. His house was INFESTED. My dog and Tesla both had fleas crawling all over them. I washed them both down with Dawn and sprayed my dog's bed and the carpet around Tesla's cage with RAID. I put flea preventative on my dog and kept Tesla's cage spotless. The rest of the house was infested with fleas still, but they stayed off of my dog and Tesla.
I would not use Dawn very often at all, but it definitely helps in the short term.

Use the revolution but keep in mind that you now have an exsisting flea problem so it will probably take a few months for the revolution(or any other topical flea product) to catch up to the amount of fleas already present. You will also have to treat the environment. A fleas life cycle is about 2 weeks so you can treat your environment in 2 week intervals to try and help. The flea medicines are used as a preventative so once fleas are already present it takes that much longer for them to work. Plus there are probably 5 times the amount of fleas you are actually seeing in egg and baby form. I work at a vets office and we keep having to have this speech with everyone this year, the fleas are so bad. Even indoor cats are getting them. I hope that helped ~*Opal Raven and the Business of Flower, Amalia & Davinger *~

don't know if this is helpful but just read it in a mags handy hints section... to repel fleas plant a pot of fennel outside your dogs kennel or scrunch a few pieces of fennel in your hand until the juices flow and rub them into your dogs coat
