So I got some shower hooks at Wal-Mart to hook the kids' meat to the top and sides of their cage to see what they'd do with it. OMG Cooper is a riot! He was getting so MAD that he couldn't run off and stash it anywhere. He was hissing and screaming at it, trying to get the meat off! It was the most intense game of tug-of-war I have ever witnessed! I have a feeling it'll be a good way for him to build muscle, too. Alice, on the other hand, gave it a tug, realized it wasn't going anywhere, then ate it right off the hook. I was like, "Well that's boring!" Until Cooper decided he wanted the same piece of meat she had. Then it was ON! Both trying to rip it off in either direction, but not going anywhere because it was hooked to the cage. LOL Ferrets are so much fun. Raw fed ferrets, even moreso. Edit: Got some pics and a vid! Got some pics and a little bit of video today. OF COURSE, as soon as the camera comes out, they decide to eat quietly and semi-civil. Before I started recording, Alice was hanging off of the side of the shelf, hanging onto a piece of meat, and trying to rip it off by pushing up on the shelf. It was SO FUNNY. My little dainty girl WANTED that meat!

Love the hissing that goes on with tug of war ;D This was a calm and quiet food fight. They're normally screaming at the top of their lungs. LOL My bf LOVES it when I feed them after he goes to bed. (NOT!) ;D

If you ever decide to feed whole prey- that screaming you are referring to will increase to the nth level if DO chicks are ever involved ;D

They should take right to it! Offer them some chicken and watch you may have to pop the first bit in their mouths but odds are that's all

My guys are old hats at raw feeding in fact most of them don't even remember what kibbles are for (most think snorkeling ) and food is never really an issue so they don't do the whole fighting and hissing thing. The other day, I only had 1 chick. There was a some pork and chicken wings so definitely not short on food...just chicks. I gave it to my oldsters (Odin and Lady "B") mainly because they're the smallest business. Well......you'd think that they hadn't eaten in weeks (much less had a full bowl of other meat type delicacies, in their cage). The screaming and hissing, chasing and bickering....what a pair. All over a chick. So, yes if your guys will fight over just plain chicken, you've not seen anything yet ;D ;D ciao

Great pics! Wish my kids would get that excited over chunks of meat... they are all raw fed but it MUST be ground up Once the rest of my life settles down, I think we're going to go back through the beginning switch routines again. (right now I don't think I could survive the additional stress - I wonder if any other pet owners stress out as much as we ferrents when it comes to getting our fur kids to eat properly )
