Ok so, pretty soon I'll have Rolo here, and pretty soon I'm moving into a pet-friendly apartment.
I want Rolo here ASAP just because he is easier than the cats to care for, and easier to hide till I get into my pet-friendly unit.
But once I move, I'm also stealing my cat Junebug from home as well. The unit I'm moving into will have a pretty large room, but there is no living area besides the kitchen and so Junebug is going to need some height and a scratching post for her sanity. (Plus clicker training & feline agility wooo! Might try and see if Rolo wants to do some little jumps and ladders and a mini teeter-totter, we'll see)
Anyway I'm trying to find a ferret safe cat tree, that will also please the kitty. It needs to be big and have perching spaces, but can't be too high because Rolo is an excellent climber, and he WILL find a way to the top, and then will most likely fall of and die >.<
So far I'm thinking this one:
I think I can either teach Rolo to use the ladders to get down safely, or I can sew fleece ramps covers over them to make it easy to get down. What do you guys think? Safe enough for a ferret? Enough climbing/perching space for a kitty?
I should add this will be pushed up against the wall so that he can't fall down the side in his exuberance. Also, it's about a metre high. I'm not sure if that is high enough for Junebug, but I'm thinking I can get a dresser or something that she can jump onto to perch.
Th other option would be something like this:
Which would better for Junebug because she can climb and jump around on it. But I'd be worried about Rolo climbing up so high - I'm thinking if maybe I put dryer duct around one of the poles he could climb through the tubing to get to each level safely? It would also be pushed against a wall in a corner. It also has a solid ramp to get up & down from the bottom part to the floor which I like.
Rolo is not the type to throw himself off heights willy nilly if he knows there is an easier way down. I know this from his FN, if he knows the bottom door is open he'll go down the ramps. If he goes down and sees that they are closed and only the top is open - THEN - he will attempt to throw himself out the cage from the top floor.
