I live in Kamloops, 4 hours away from the Vancouver area. Just busing there is $120. There and back is over $200. Plus hotel and meals and all that. Costs a lot.
As for making one I've drawin up what I want before but I can't do wood work to save my life. I had someone that said they could make it for me for a fee and I provide supplies but he never got in contact with me after that even when I'd try to contact him. oh wow lol, I just sort of assumed you were in the lower mainland! Yeah that is definitely too far to go for a cat tree.

Those types annoy me....I will help you...and disappear. If you're not going to follow through don't make the offer Annoying person. Do you have a highschool near by? If you do approach the wood working instructor/teacher and see if he's got a competent student to either build it or help you make it. It all goes toward either community service (high school students have to have 40 hrs of community service to get their gr 12) or for marks...either way you both win ciao

Actually I don't live that far from the high school I went too.
Our equivalent to the community service you mention is called Carrier Planning and Preparation. I did it is high school and loved it. I volunteered as a care home and have 140 when they said it was time to let me go so the next group of students had space. But here you have to volunteer at a business.
I'm likely to put the cat post on the back burner for a while. This summer I have to complete the outdoor play area. I have all the panels, I was lucky enough to find pre-made panels that should work perfectly for free. Just have to find pavers or bricks and some plywood for a good price. And time.
