What does she do if you simply leave them on regardless?

I've found not wearing any type of footgear seems to be the best way to deal with my guys. I won't swear for others, I'm sure that everyone has different experiences in this respect. Everyone that comes into my house is advised to remove all footwear and socks (socks just seem to raise the ante , there is something about socks that drives even my sanest furbrat ). My guys seem to associate shoes with newbs and makes everyone who's wearing shoes a canditate for having a ferret up their pant leg or good nip on the ankle. ciao

That's too funny ;D Mine are just the opposite- unless you are wearing rabbit fur lined moc's, like my neighbor did one day

I'm sorry, Sherry....but that's just asking for trouble and to become the center of attention for anyone's fuzz business ciao

I always make company remove their shoes but mostly because strangers don't have the ferret-shuffle down and barefoot they react a lot quicker if they start to step on someone's tail .

I'm sorry, Sherry....but that's just asking for trouble and to become the center of attention for anyone's fuzz business ciao When I realized even mild mannered Zeus was NOT leaving her moc's alone, I asked what they were lined with, as she'd already taken a couple of nips as they tried to pull them off. When she told me rabbit fur, fuzzums went up into the cage til company left ;D I finally let her know rabbit is one of their fav's ;D

They refuse to leave me alone unless I lock them in the ferret room or their cage. They hate shoes, I've got about 5 who go insane over socks. I'm almost always bare foot in my house. No one bothers my bare feet except Church...

Strange little creatures, aren't they? Mine will never bother shoes(well...unless they are lined with rabbit fur ;D ), but socks or bare feet? Forget it!

Boy if you go around here with bare feet you'd be in big trouble Same here, if my two newest ones are out. They ignore feet with shoes on, but are determined to make off with slippers, socks or bare feet. The rest, who were born here, totally ignore feet whether they are covered or bare.

Speaking of sheos...whenever we are at Shane's house his mother will occasionally come down to talk to us. She has these leather moccasin slippers and they have a little leather box on the top of each one. Koda LOVES them. When she is in the room, we have to hold him or contain him somehow because he will NOT leave those bows alone! ;D Thank goodness she is very tolerant of his mischief! As for getting her to stop biting, time and patience. I agree with the statement earlier that YOU should ALWAYS be the person to put her in and take her out of time out. Never give in and let daddy do it or she has just beat you at her game. It might take a million times, and she might spend 99% of her time in time-out for several months, but she will eventually get the idea. I hope. BTW I know you have commented on it before at ferret.com, but I love the irony of her name vs behavior. haha She is adorable even though she is a brat!

yeah... Church has the same look that Sophie Ann does... it's almost like they are sizing you up and plotting against you. Sophie Ann also does the weird exocist neck spin and will bite uncovered skin at every chance and climb pant legs with speed! I wish I could say at so many months it will get better, but in my case with Sophie Ann I haven't gotten through to her yet...she hasn't had that ah-ha moment where she realizes that we're not going to abuse her that all we want to do is lover her...one day...

Oh wow....I did it. I really did it. Fun-Go was playing fert in the tube, laying on his back and poking his head out of the tube and scritching his back on the rim.....I was standing over top of him talking to him (I know talking to a deaf fuzz : . I often reach over the other guys and scritch their backs and rub the top of their heads. Doing this to Fun-Go is...hmmmm....NOT done ;D. He let me pet the top of his head. He made no attempt to bite me, he didn't even open his mouth to hiss. I didn't do this once, twice, three times....on the forth time he slid back into the tube. Fun-Go didn't bite me . It will be 3 whole years that he's been living here in Aug. So persevere, it does work in the end. He will probably bite me tonight when I go to put him to bed but hey....one day...it's going to happen ciao

He has got to be one of the most interesting ferrets I have ever known. Vixen used to bite socks and still will once in awhile go after my boyfriends feet, she even goes after his dogs feet ;D But with my roomate and I she is told "No" anytime she gets too excited and comes near our feet. When she's calm she's allowed near our feet, she will leave them alone. When she's hungry she follows us everywhere and will sit on our feet if we stop in the kitchen. It is so adorable! I say go with Heather's advice. I lived with Fun-Go, and he was.... persistent. I had a baby, so there was no chance I could keep him. Anyhow, she has made such a huge change in him. I wish you luck, the fuzzies are totally worth the time and effort.
