I was asked how to make my hammock/bed thingy that is in my video. So its tutorial time. Just to be clear, I didn't come up with this design. I saw a picture of one on the internet and figured out how to make from that. So to whoever made the first one, thanks!
First off, here is a list of materials that we will need.
Permanent marker
Measuring tape
PVC cutting tool (hacksaw, ribbon saw or a hand tool like the one in the picture below)
10' (give or take a foot or two depending on the size you make) of PVC 1/2" 3/4" or 1" Diameter (according to your preference, I've used 3/4" in the pictures)
4 x PVC Caps
4 x PVC 90 degree Elbows
4 x PVC T Connectors
Hammock Material (fleece in the picture)
All in all, its pretty cheap. The PCV connectors and caps are generally 35 to 55 cents a piece (US Dollars) The length of PVC pipe is generally $1.75 to $2.50. The hand tool for cutting PVC was about $10. But if you have something that cuts PVC already then you are good there.
Ok, here are a few pictures of the materials just so you have some visual representations.
PVC Hand cutting tool, Permanent marker, Measuring tape:
PVC Caps:
PVC Elbows:
PVC T-Connectors:
The lengths of PVC, for this tutorial, I have cut them into 3 lengths, Long - 18" Medium - 6" Short - 3":
Here are the assembly instructions:
First take the 4 Elbow Connectors and 2 of the "Long" lengths of PVC and assemble them as pictured below, 1 Elbow Connectors on each end:
Now take all 4 of the "Medium" lengths of PVC and insert them into the other end of the Elbow Connectors, like this:
Now grab the other 2 "Long" lengths of PVC and the 4 T-Connectors and like the Elbow Connectors assemble them as such:
Now take the 4 caps and the "Short" lengths of PVC and put them together like this:
Now to put it all together, take the 2 Elbow lengths and combine them with the T-Connector Lengths as pictured below:
Now take the Cap lengths and insert them into the top parts of the T-Connectors, like this:
Here is the fleece, with cuts on the corners to tie it around the pegs on top of the PVC frame, you can connect this however you'd like, get creative and try out new things, might find something you like even better!
Now tie the hammock/bed fleece onto the frame and there you have it:
Well that's about all there is to it. If you have an questions let me know and I will try to expand on it.
Good Luck! (I'd love to see pictures if you make one!)
