Yes, fish can be fed about once a week. Try to focus on the smaller fish due to mercury content

Ok, because bravo makes a boneless salmon frozen food that I thought might be a nice treat every now and then. Flower is doing pretty good. She will eat her food with just a splash a water which is ok because I've noticed that when the frozen thaws and is in the fridge it does get a bit dry as the blood juices all go to the bottom. So maybe that was why she was being picky... So adding a splash of warm water just freshens it up a bit.

Well her weekly update follows last weeks pretty much. I have been varying her meals between commercial frozen, freeze-dried, and home-made mix. So I'm thinking for her weekly menu something like: Mon: AM- Commercial Mix + Salmon Oil & Taurine PM- Comercial Mix + Pumkin Tues: AM- Rehydrated Freeze-dried PM- Commercial Mix + Home-made + Pumkin Wens: AM- Commercial Mix + Salmon Oil & Taurine PM- Commercial Mix + Pumkin Thurs: AM- Rehydrated Freeze-dried PM- Commercial Mix + Home-made + Pumkin Fri: AM- Commercial Mix + Salmon Oil & Taurine PM- Commercial Mix Sat: AM- Commercial Mix + Home-made + Pumkin PM- Commercial Mix Sun: AM- Commercial Mix PM- Commercial Mix + Home-made + Pumkin Commercial Mix either made of Bravo Ostrich, Duck, and Venison OR Chicken, Duck, and Venison. The mixes will be alternated as a run out... Freeze-dried is Stella and Chewy's Dandy Lamb Home-made Mix is a Mix of Chicken & Pork meats, and Beef organs & heart. Made along the guidelines of the soup but with out water added and only roughly blended/chopped. The meals that she only gets commercial mix are the meals that my mom feeds her because Im at my boyfriends over the weekend and I cant stop home for every meal lol what a good grandma she is I dont want to make it to difficult for her as she doesnt actually like to touch Flower. She just opens the door and throws the bowl in before Flower wakes up to quick and tries to get out of the cage lol ;D

Which of the Bravo blends are you using? I'm assuming all the fowl (ostrich, duck, chicken) are bone in, right? Venison is probably boneless... Do any of these contain organ meat? or heart?
Just from looking at it, it's possible there might be too much bone. Are you adding eggshell (1/2 tsp per 8 oz) to the homemade mix? Are Flower's stools dry?
What organs are in your homemade mix? Is it just liver? About what % of the mix is organ?
I'd also be tempted to reduce the amount of liver in your homemade mix, since she's getting liver in the commercial mixes as well as the freeze dried. She only needs approx. 2-3 oz a week total.

the ostrich has bone, meat and liver. the chicken has bones, meat, heart, gizzards, liver, and some veggies at the end the venison is just meat. and the duck has bone. The last home-made mix had kidney instead of liver, but i figured since the ostrich had liver that was ok. i only used a small chunk of the kidney like this size of 2 chicken hearts maybe. but i used lots of chicken breast and pork chops... and i got beef heart already chopped up and used 4-6 chunks of those... so maybe my home-made mixes should not contain organs or hearts if you think the commercial mixes have enough organ, and im already supping taurine... and her poop is not dry...

Alright, I've submitted your menu for review so I'll let you know if any changes need to be made. Just curious, have you ever tried giving Flower some whole chicken gizzards? They are great for building up jaw strength and for cleaning teeth

I could try, do they typically like gizzards not mixed with other stuff?

At my grocery stores, they sell packs of plain gizzards (like $1.20 a lb) and some with gizzards and a few chicken hearts.

Can you be more specific on what is fed on the commercial raw meals? Like
Mon - ostrich AM Mom - chicken PM
It's difficult to determine if they're getting enough of everything, because each commercial mix has different levels of everything.

They would be mixed together... So the mix of ostrich, duck, and venison would be fed all together...

Is it an even mix (so 1:1:1 ratio) or is it uneven (ostrich 1, chicken 2, venison 1)
Does that make sense?

I want to say the ostrich and venison are 2 pounders, the duck is 1 pound. And I can't remember if the chicken came in a 2, 5, or 10. Maybe I will just stick with the ostrich, venison and duck mix to make it simple?

Is it possible to feed each commercial mix separately? So ostrich for mon AM, venison for mon PM, etc.

Well a container lasts me about a week... So usually I thaw the food when I first get it, mix it together, and then put it in to smaller (that last me about a week) containers and pull them out as I need them. So then I would have to pull out two containers, one of each flavor, and the meat would go bad before I could use it all....
