Well so what if I just feed 2 or 3 solid homemade mix meals a week... And the comercial mixes the other days... The homemade mix has no bone in it. And ill just mix heart into my homemade mix, no other organs since the ostrich has liver... So homemade mix would be various meats and heat. And commercial would be meats, livers, and bone...

The issue is that the mentors above me who overlook the menus want to see exactly what is fed on each of "commercial mix" days. Each mix has a different ratio of bone/meat/organ, so to know *exactly* what is fed each day is needed.
Can you separate the mix into individual proteins? i.e. Monday: chicken, Tuesday: ostrich, etc?

So then Mon am&pm bravo ostrich, tues am stella&chewys dandy lamb freeze dried, pm bravo ostrich, wens am bravo ostrich, pm homemade mix, thurs am s&c lamb freeze dried, pm bravo ostrich, Fri am homemade mix, pm bravo ostrich, Sat am&pm bravo ostrich, sun am bravo ostrich, pm homemade.
Homemade mix 1/2 chicken 1/2 pork (following soup guidelines so 8oz meat total) and 2-3 oz heart...

Are you not feeding the bravo duck, venison, or chicken anymore?

Hi just wanted to pop in and say that things seem to be going well main reason we wanted the mixes specified was to help you balance that weeks meals a little better, since all but the chicken commercial is lacking. What you are going to supplement with that week will depend on which one you are feeding. If the duck is the main source, then you'd need some extra muscle meat along with heart or taurine and organs. Ostrich just means extra heart/taurine and venison needs everything pretty much. So to feed a balanced diet over the course of the week, it's important to know exactly what they are eating. The variety you had originally is great! We just need a bit more clarification sometimes to keep your fuzz from developing any deficiencies

I understand. I was just trying to simplify it since I can't have separate containers of ostrich, venison, duck, and home-mixed meat out at one time because it will all go bad before I use it. So that's why I mix the commercial all together and them can just have one container of commercial and one container of home-mixed out. I am supplementing with pumkin everyday, and usually salmon oil and taurine every other-everyday.
I thought my commercial mix was pretty good. It's 2lbs ostrich, 2lbs venison, and 1lb duck. So 3/5ths of the mix has bone, and 2/5ths has organ in it, 2/5ths of it is pure meat. Then I add in taurine, oil and pumkin.

Hey, sorry I havent updated in a while. Ive been so busy with the two new ones and trying to intergrate. And also been waiting to hear back about Flower graduating or not so I wasnt sure if I needed to up date or not. Any way, she is doing pretty good. Eating very consistantly! She is not amused by the kids but is not scared of them, more just wants them out of her space when they are all in the pen together and of course they want to harrass her lol . they still sleep in seperate cages, I am trying to figure out how to intergrate them into one cage or if I should wait a while and just let them play together every day but sleep in their own cages... Amalia and Davinger are pros at eating soupies not that they decided I can be trusted and am not poisoning them. I have started mixing flowers commercial raw into their soupies. They have not had kibble since monday! I would say that I put 4 TBS in and Davinger eats about 2 right away and Amalia eats maybe 1 right away, I am not sure who finishes it off later... Flowers been eating about 2-2.5 TBS each feeding. The kids also like to chew on the hard rubbery toys that flower didnt pay much attention to so no toys in their cage lol jus during supervised playtime. But Im hoping that means I can get them to chew bones and if they do that maybe they will teach Flower Oh and Flower now has a facebook lol Any way, thats my update. Hope everything is going ok with you. Im sorry to hear about the trouble your family is going through with the school systems. My mom is a teachers assistant in the special ed room so I know all about how unfair things can be and the lack of aid ratio for the kids that they have.

This is the response from Sherry "If I'm understanding this correctly, only about 10% of that two fifths is going to be liver/organ. So 3.2 oz(approximately) just for the 2lbs of ostrich. Meaning it's still really unbalanced organ wise since it's all combined together. She'd need another 4-5 oz organs ground up and mixed in, or feed a separate meal of it. For 5lbs of meat, she needs about 8 oz of organ. Correct me if I'm wrong, but her own mix has the 10% organ meats? If so, the rest of it would need to be balanced out as well. With the heart, I gather she has trouble locating it? As to why she's using taurine in this mix instead of adding heart itself to it. Is she adding enough? Again, memory seving here, that would be approximately one 500 mg capsule split between 4 ferrets is what Jennifer was giving, but that was on top of a completely commercial diet including heart. So I think I'd up that to the 500 mg cap between two ferrets, to play it a bit safer." So going by the combined commercial mix (with the venison, ostrich, etc), we're going to need some more organ. As for your own home mix, you should be adding eggshell or bone meal to it so that it also is a balanced meal (1/2 tsp per 8 oz) so that it is a balanced "complete" meal. And sorry for the lack of updates, things have been so busy and hectic. I appreciate the kind words I'm SO glad your newbies are doing so wonderful! AND EATING BONE! Like pros. Babies are SO easy to swicth The kids eating bones MIGHT encourage Flower to try them. They would be great for her dental health if she ate them.

Hey hope everythings been going well. Flower weights about 1 lb 7.3 oz but the scale is small so her movements might be throwing that off a bit lol. As to sherry's response, I usually add organ to the home-made mix but I thought you said that that was to much organ since the ostrich had organ in it... And I dont add bone or egg shell powder to the home-made mix because there is ground up bone in the commercial mix... Usually my home-made mix follows the soup guidelines, just with various proteins. And I usually do 1/2 cap every other day for Flowers taurine... They have occasionally been hacking a little bit so I am uping the pumkin because it sort of sounds like there might be something stuck in their throat sometimes so hopefully it is just fur from grooming( the girls groom ALOT) lol and if it doest get better they will have to go to the vet I guess. Their noses are not runny and there has been no sneezing and every one seems to be pooping. Flowers poop was a little green this weekend but she had tried a new food. The kids poops have been softish and on occasion seedy but I can tell that is fatty looking seeds so they are still getting used to raw fats. Amalia has become a bit belligerant with her commercial raw eating, but Im not sure if thats just because she doesnt feel well or the more likely reason is that shes a little brat lol She likes freeze dried though. Ive yet to clip the little imps nails, she is so hard to handle lol she does NOT like being restrained at all. Also the little ones are suicide jumpers lol If Im sitting in the pen with them they like to climb up onto my shoulders and try to jump over and out of the pen I think thats all thats new lol

Im sorry this got so complicated!! lol They way I have been feeding them is about: ~ 10-12 meals a week Bravo Frozen mix ( 1/2 Ostrich-meat, bone, organ. 1/4 Duck-meat, bone. 1/4 Venison-meat.) ~Then a few meals a week, (2-4 meals) my home-made mix ( 8oz Pork-meat. 8ox Chicken-meat. 4 Chicken-hearts. approx 4oz Beef-liver or kidney, which ever I have) The home-made mix is just roughly blended so that it gets all chopped and blended together, I dont add water to it so it is pretty chunky. ~They have also now been getting Chicken Wings 2-3 times a week ~Pumkin once a day in a meal ~Taurine usually everyday, except days that they get the home-made mix since that has heart in it. ~Salmon Oil every night. (Right now they are also getting some crumbled freeze-dried on top of their food because that is the trick to getting Amalia to eat it on her own with out having to force feed her just a pinch of that though) 3 ferrets eat alot of food lol

Okay, do the chicken wings make a whole meal? Or do they usually get commercial/soup in addition to the chicken wing?
Is Flower eating the wing at all?
