That is excellent! Sounds like you might have a couple of "naturals" One important thing, though. Once we really get into this, when you introduce a protein, it's important to keep them on that protein alone for 2-3 days minimum. That's the way to find out if they have a sensitivity to it. What you will be watching for is actually vomiting(not gagging and retching- that's normal "drama queen" behaviour), blood tinged diarrhea, loose yellow seedy stool, or watery diarrhea. If that happens, stop that protein for that ferret.

Any meat that isn't treated in some way! IE- smoked, salted, etc.

You can also buy meat without bone, too. Just read the small print And just because it's bone in doesn't mean much . Check for the word "enhanced". That means it's been injected with a saline solution to plump it up and add flavour !

So i made the soup that you posted earlier, i got Hagrid and Tubesock to willingly eat it!!!! well that did not surprise me though... Coda will only eat it if scruff her, put some in her mouth, and after that she will only eat it off of my finger while i hold her. on the other end, Stiv will ABSOLUTELY NOT eat it, he will get really angry and shake and pull away as hard as he can. i started this yesterday because we ran out of kibbles.
i don't know what to do with stiv! we are completely out of kibble and he won't eat it! agh!

First, congratulations on the others! Even finger feeding is a major step. Now, for stivs. Do any of the other animals in your house eat kibbles? If so, break some up For him if they are too large. This is a temporary solution at best. That could be his back up food. You will have to persist with him with the raw soup. Does he like oil or ferretone, and do you have it on hand? If so- use that on top to entice him. The more he has to taste it, the more likely he'll accept it sooner than later. Let the two who will eat as my h as they want. Finger feed, then ultimately spoon feed Cody.

I am SO happy that i have not one but TWO naturals! For stiv, the only other kibble i have is rabbit food and that is NOT going to be good for him well... at all. we don't have dogs or cats... For stiv, i seriously tried ferretone! HIS FAVORITE!!! i am going to try ferret vite, that seemed to be starting to work.. but Tubesock freaked out and started making that happy scrunchy face as she pushed Stiv out of the way and lapped it up. (i am going to feed him seperatly next time ) I need to make more of that ferret smoothie ( the soup in a blender. kinda looks like a strawberry smoothie!) i have no hearts! i could still not find any but i have a whole bucket of livers yay!

Drat! Because he has GOT to eat to keep stable blood sugars. Just keep coaxing and trying to finger feed him. Use whatever you have to in order to get him eating it

I know! i don't want him to get low!! i found a handfull of kibble last night, but he eats so much, and it was gone within five minutes! i am going to make more soup, maybe i will split it off and mix in some ferret vite and tone in it, he might like it more! EDIT : here is last night, obviously Hagrid eating the raw soup

i am making mass amounts of it, and putting it in ice cube trays. i hope this is a good idea.. EDIT: so i made pretty much the whole chicken and put it in ice cubes, of course leaving some chicken to feed today, i am going to warm it up in the microwave, is that alright? i know they will eat it better if it is warm... still working on stiv.

Ice cube trays are fine if you are going to microwave it, do single cubes in 5 second bursts, no more. Otherwise it can develop hot spots. And make sure to stir well between. Once they get on bone, you won't be able to do that, because of the risk of Cooking the bone.

ok good:) SUCESSS!!!!!! i got Stiv to lick it off of my finger! i was worried about his blood sugar so after i had gotten him to eat a bit of raw soup i gave him ferret vite because i heard it has a good sugar content and should not be fed a lot. he hasn't eaten since yesterday night and even then, it was only a handful i found. i got the consistency a bit creamier also because i used a rolling pin instead of the blender to powder the egg, it is much better! Stiv, i have reason to believe, liked this soup better because it is creamier. S OVERALL i have stiv and coda finger feeding and tubesock and hagrid eat on their own i cannot wait till i get them all eating from the plate on their own so i can start making it more chunky! i am going to be so happy to see the day i give them a whole chicken leg and they happily devour it like real ferrets
