1. Where did you first learn about natural diets for ferrets?
I first heard about natural diets on Forum.Ferret.Com and here when i was reading some posts and saw some pictures of ferrets eating raw chicken legs:)
2. Please describe the type of diet you would like assistance in switching your ferret(s) to. Be sure to include if you are interested in feeding whole prey (live or frozen-thawed) and if you are wanting to FULLY switch to a natural diet or PARTIALLY. If you are unsure what kind of diet you want to put your ferrets on, please express that and we can help you find the best type of natural diet for your ferret.
I want my ferrets PARTIALLY switched maybe one meal every day or two days that is raw meat. i am interested in feeding raw meats like chicken. what are some other common meats that i can buy for raw feeding? It cannot be very expensive but i want my ferrets to live longer as i heard that raw foods are better for them.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
I have heard about 14 year old healthy ferrets that were fed on Raw all of their lives ( i know my ferrets have not been on raw all their life) i want my ferrets to have longer, healthier lives
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment?
Yes i am willing to make the commitment. I however might not be able to get on as much on tuesdays and thursdays. I am willing to commit to this long process and if i were to be off for a while i would tell a staff member.
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? How long have you had each ferret for?
I have 4(now) ferrets in age order youngest to oldest. Tubesock-Female-1yr 6ms old-have had for 6 months 2 pounds. Stiv-Male-3yrs old have had for 3 years 3.2 pounds. Coda-Female-3yrs 6ms have had for 2 years 2pounds. Hagrid-Male-3 years 6ms-Have had for 6 months, weighs 3.4pounds.
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc)
I feed my ferrets 8 in1 Nutrient Rich-Ferret Diet, they get a weekly Ferret Vite treat. sometimes get ferretone.
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened?
If you mean raw meat, No, but i have tried raw egg, my 1 ferret liked it Hagrid.. the rest ignored it.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share?
Well, my ferrets get let out 2-3 hours a day, and DO like to try and attack the Rabbits if they can get into the rabbit room. They have a cage that is 3" wide and 1 1/2" on the side.
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer?
